- (from a reader) - On 24 December 2024, Biden signed 50 bills into law. Guess what bill wasn’t signed? Yup, HR 82 Social Security Fairness Act. Did it slip his mind or are staffers keeping the bill from him? The possibility of a pocket veto for HR 82, is definitely on the rise.
We did a quick search and found the Drooling Vegetable signed fifty bills into Law just before Christmas....and HR 82 wasn't among the fifty.
As the Biden Crime Family graft and corruption opportunities are drying up, and Mrs Vegetable used to be a teacher of some sort, you'd think that someone would point out that this might increase her compensation in case Hunter stops kicking 10% up to the "big guy."
But they're running up against some deadlines here.

WRONG. It wasn't signed because it has not been presented to the president. This morning the President Pro Temp of the Senate took the action required to send the bill to sleepy.
A bill becomes law if signed by the President or if not signed within 10 days and Congress is in session.
If Congress adjourns before the 10 days and the President has not signed the bill then it does not become law ("Pocket Veto.")
This bill would benefit teachers as well and he doesn’t hate teachers. I think it applies to a lot of guvment employees, Don’t know why it’s not signed but if it’s because of cop hatred it’s burning a lot of his constituency.

This certainly sounds correct. The Senate voted for the bill without amendments to the bill does not go to committee but straight to the White House. This happened on 21 December. If Biden does not sign the bill by 31 December it is called a pocket veto. The New Congress is seated 3 january and the bill would have to go through the new Congress from the start.

Article 1, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution states:
If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a Law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a Law.
This could end up being a “pocket veto” which then becomes law automatically I believe. But more than likely Schumer and the other sponsors of the bill want a big signing ceremony. It has been worked on for years and has overwhelming support from both parties. They will want police fire and teachers present for the signing. They need to wait until after the holidays to assemble the photo op Democrats have to mend their relationships

The House Pres Pro Temp had to sign it. Then the Senate Pres Pro Temp need to sign it. This has occurred, the Senate Pres Pro Temp signed it today. Now it has to go to the President for his signature.
It is official. HR 82 has been enrolled and presented to the President on Friday, 27 December 2024. Now the 10 day clocks begins excluding Sundays. If and very unlikely, the President does sign the bill, a pocket veto would apply as the 118th session of Congress ended on 3 January 2025.

The National Fraternal Order of Police is reporting, apparently based on invitations received to attend, that a signing ceremony will occur at the White House on January 6, 2025.
