It's Happening

Conehead will probably go down in history as the mayor who let the Bears get away:

  • In an offseason surprise, some Chicago Bears fans got an email this week asking their opinions on seating options and pricing for a new stadium.

Is this a sneak peek at the new seats, and does it signal plans are moving forward for a move to Arlington Heights?

Some of the fans who received the email have long histories with the team, and there are a lot of concerns. But at least one expert asked for a quick time out on the speculations, though he does think this signals the team is moving forward with their plan to move to the northwest suburbs.

If the McCaskey's were any sorts of business people, they would have moved out years ago, built a new stadium out-of-pocket (instead of swindling taxpayers), and have a franchise comparable in value to the Cowboys.

Conehead was willing to sign away all the taxpayer money he could scrounge up, but Springfield was actually smarter in this case since they'll get their cut no matter where the Bears play in Illinois and taxpayers are more than a little fed up with billionaires getting hundreds of millions in "subsidies" for private enterprises.

But this is going to blow another giant monetary hole in the Chicago budget.

If they were any sorts of business people? They’re worth 1.6 billion dollars. I think they’ve done just fine. But I’m sure the retired city worker you are woulda made way more.

They were never ever going to stay in Chicago. Just played both sides to get the best deal. Just business. The lakefront has nothing to offer. It’s a shit show trying to go to a game there. It’s like going to a dead end or a culdesec. Same for concerts. Arlington Heights is a dream. Bears will own stadium, bars and hotels. It’s a no brainer. It will be way easier for me to go to Arlington heights than the lakefront by a long shot.

"Blow another giant monetary hole in the Chicago budget?" Nobody makes money on the Bears and Soldier Field except the Levy Bros, Danny Wirtz and all the Park District employees stuffing cash in their pockets. The taxpayer has only ever lost on Soldier Field.

Glad to see the Bears are leaving. Much better place for them and the fans to be in Arlington Heights. The White Sox are next and will move to Nashville.

I have a buddy at Arlington Heights PD. They are in the process of hiring 100+ officers/laterals for the Bears relocation. Sounds like a done deal.

Chicago has been in a death spiral starting in Daley’s beginning of his last term. It will be interesting what 20 years will bring.

It started with Groot and ends with the mentally unstable Conehead. How did Chicago slip into such an abyss?

i read something about players paying a jock tax to the city. is that why they want municipalities to burden some of the cost for a stadiun

Brandon Johnson’s Chicago is sneaking shadow lobbyists into Springfield without telling the public.

A bombshell report just revealed that Johnson’s inner circle worked with THREE outside lobbyists who never registered to represent the city during this year’s legislative session. Why? Because their contracts were still “pending.”

Pending? Since when is "pending" a free pass to break the rules?

This is the kind of backroom corruption that has made Illinois a national punch line.

Democrat insiders are cutting secret deals, blurring lines between public service and political favors.

One of Johnson’s unregistered lobbyists is tied to the Chicago Teachers Union, which just so happens to be one of his biggest campaign donors. Another is a Springfield alderwoman buying up Capitol real estate for political events. They didn’t register until reporters started asking questions.

This isn’t just a paperwork error. It’s a pattern of deception that started with Mike Madigan.

Bears have taken the cheap rode for decades. Use taxpayer money and park district property.
