Another Payroll Screw-Up

You know, there are professional companies that do payroll:

Of course, then some connected moron would have to lose their job, and you can't have that.

When I retired, my last few checks were confusing. I got paid for duty availability and then they subsequently took it out of one of my other checks saying I shouldn’t have been paid for it because it was paying me in advance for a period I’d no longer be sworn. Yet, they taxed me on the duty availability- then when they took it out - they took out the full amount. So I paid tax on something I never received. On top of it, some checks were at HQ and they sent another to my unit. Nobody at payroll or the miserable civilians on 1st floor could tell me where one of my checks was. Before someone chimes in about direct deposit- it stops as soon as your last day, you can’t even go into green slips to see what you should have coming.

I’m sure the POS responsible for this debacle almost every month has no qualifications, except that he/she checks the right box.

And as always there’s no “accountability”, even though that’s such a buzzword these days. This city makes me sick.

Slightly off topic, and coming to Chicago soon.
Sex Abuse Settlements Bankrupt Democrat States
https://archive.ph/RK8Il#selection-757.1-757.47

"The dirty little secret of the accusations is how few of them can even be verified.
With over 7,000 claims and over $4 billion in payouts so far, it would seem reasonable that hundreds of sex abusers had also been named and are being arrested and prosecuted.

The actual number in Los Angeles is 2. Not 2,000 or 200. Only 2."

Los Angeles County is dealing with $2 billion in costs from the wildfires, after the city’s first black female mayor and first lesbian fire chief badly mishandled the blazes, but the $4 billion in sex abuse settlements are double the worst fires in the area’s history."

"Little more was needed than the word of an individual and perhaps ‘corroboration’ from one of their friends. While there were real abuses and real victims, the wave of thousands of complaints made them all but impossible to seriously investigate."

The opening up of credit via 'credit cards', aka betty and wilma's lengendary mantra, Chaaaaaarge It!!!!, was the generational beginning of the lazy ways of personal finance habits.

Our grandparents' generation had the Great Depression, during which our parents' generation were raised. Our generation had the benefits of our parents knowing what a penny saved is a penny earned truly means.

Our offspring, having been raised thoroughly in an economy of credit availibilties, offset only mildly by our attempts at economic guidance, transform the obvious value of frugality into an oblivious virtue worthy of mockeries.

That thoughful discipline of not spending money you do not have has been dismissed as caveman thinking.

The reliable and abundant feasting obstructs even the imaginings of famine. Our grandparents and parents know that famine is always hovering on the horizon, aka, reality.

Those of our generation who have paid attention, know this also.

Speaking of AMC messages the ivory tower sent out reminders of the smoking standards as well as the prescribed shoes as per the uniform standards. If you look at Uniform and Property U04-01 UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE STANDARDS you will look down to SECTION XXI SUBSECTION I LINE ITEM 12. (Members WILL NOT) wear iridescent, brightly colored, or nonconservative personal items (e.g., eyeglass/sunglass frames, pens, watches, etc.) while in uniform.

So why on the police department Facebook page at a ceremony for interns is Deputy Chief Senora Ben wearing the same YELLOW glasses that have been worn in D.C. and other functions. That seems to be a violation of that section of the order pertaining to non conservative colored eyeglasses. So sergeants are expected to check shoes, bump cards, and other uniform infractions while there is a deputy chief in violation daily? This little shit is part of the problems with discipline, outside of promoting those that shouldn’t be promoted. I may sound salty but I’m not enforcing rules that aren’t enforced on those telling us to enforce the rules. It isn’t right.
