How many times does this have to happen before Officers stop generating numbers to make the exempts look good, but end up in Federal court for years afterwards?
Officers on a Chicago Police Department tactical team are facing a new lawsuit this week over a traffic stop turned search that the driver claims was unlawful and racist.
For years, the ABC7 I-Team has been reporting on a controversial CPD tactic that critics call "pretextual traffic stops," or stops for minor traffic violations turning into drivers handcuffed and vehicles searched, moments after pulling them over.
It's a police practice that city leaders have vowed to overhaul.
At this point, the only people wanting to see Blue Cards via traffic stops are plaintiff attorneys, because they know the City will pay them tens of thousands for unsubstantiated allegations long before a single deposition is taken or in-car camera / body camera footage is viewed.
Just write the ticket, make sure it's a mail in citation, and move along. If you get notified for Traffic Court, take the deviation if it won't result in suspension time. Is Zoom still an option for Traffic Court? Just stop with the TSSSSSSS bullshit.

Zoom traffic court is the greatest. Don’t even have to get out of bed.
So twice demoted fat fuck Mike Barz retires comfortably, heads to the Cubs and leaves these poor bastards holding the bag of shit. All because he promised them bullshit promotions and a gateway to specialized units and they bought it hook, line and sinker. DUMMIES!
For the entire time Barz was in charge of 018, Barz’s own Tact officers were posting about what was coming down in Tact with his activity mandates aka “quotas” here in 018 for those regular readers. He got demoted by Eric Carter from that bullshit Community Safety Team for pushing quotas under the failed tenure of then Superintendent David Brown who threatened Commanders and Area Deputies (yes Snelling included) with following his TSSS driven Traffic Stop Program. Barz eventually sweet talked Waller into promoting him again where he landed in 018 and fucked with supervisors and officers daily if they weren’t meeting his numbers and were smart enough not to violate citizens civil rights. Glad this is coming out and hopefully he will finally get his. I’m hearing the feds are looking into it and he will be forced to be deposed and testily in federal court. Boy, I’d hate to be Barz waiting to see what happens! That’s a hell of a way to be retired by continuously being stressed Mike. Waiting to see if or more like when they hit you with that little old civil rights act of 1964 which incorporates 42USC1983.

When will guys get it. Nothing you do activity wise gets you promoted. It's all about who you know always has been always will be. That's also why they post those BS resumes and never talk about how many arrests or other activity they have , because that doesn't mean shit. If any of that is true the officers should have reported his behavior. Otherwise, its just a rumor.

The feds don't depose people for a 1983 action or in a criminal matter. Federal depositions are only allowed in federal civil cases. I call bs.

Oh it’s been reported. You’ll hear all about it in October when the trial starts. Scumbag Barz left thinking doing so would shield him from the shit storm a certain Lt. created with keeping great documentation. The emails - from what I’ve been told - are quite damning. There are still men on this job who will stand up and do the right thing. And the right thing usually takes a long time to put together in a nice little package. It’s coming, and it’s coming hard.
