What's with This Scandal?
Stupidity abounds suddenly - gun running and now this:
- 005th district officer caught switching labels at Walmart while off duty... security calls on him, confronts him. Fight breaks out and he's got a gun on him, call comes out as person with a gun. he's chased by 005 officers who get him in custody. Security says he does it often and want to sign complaints. Once they find out he's police they change their minds.
Unfortunately for him, by the time security decided to decline to sign the complaints, we're told the Lieutenant and a Captain showed up on scene.
Wonder how much farther they'll be lowering hiring standards in light of the manpower shortages.

Off topic … I just read an article and watched the video on CWB Chicago ,of a “peace keeper” taking a swing at an on duty uniformed Chicago Police Officer. I was extremely impressed and proud of the coppers on scene. This is what being the police is about. The only critique I would have is when the “ peace keeper “ approached the coppers they should have doused him with OC spray. A shot of OC would have ended all of that bull shit instantly. Other than that it was a great job in my humble opinion.
Report on time. Put two locks on your locker. Take your calls. Checkoff. Collect a check for your time. Treat everyone with respect and have absolutely zero connections to the job or your coworkers. CPD isn't what it used to be and at this rate of weekly scandals there won't be a CPD image to tarnish. The officers who took us old timers under their wing many moons ago, are spinning in their grave.
They allegedly have prior store video of this officer changing price tags. Well why did they let him walk away on those thefts? Most stores scan the BAR code for the price of the item.
I ask since the other day at Home Depot I watched a women buying items that were priced really low. Home Depot checkout refused to sell her the items. Then they performed a department check and found out that the prices were correctly adjusted in their computer to get the items sold and out of inventory?
I stood at store exit watching this confusion and waiting for local police to arrive. No police were called for any criminal acts?
Seems like the business are lowering pricing on items to clear shelves.

I blame this on the previous presidential administration for the higher costs of goods. Inflation makes the cost of everything so expensive and unattainable. The Biden + Harris (D) et. al. clueless administration blames inherited transitory inflation from the other previous administration. Costs rise to the little people's demise.

This time she hits the lock up, they find all sorts of stolen shit in the trunk of her car, that was never searched by the previous cops. Candidates that were dismissed would miraculously reappear in the system and investigators were told to " work them up ", code used by the bosses to get a certain racial group into the qualified stack. I had a candidate whos boyfriend was involved in a shootout with 007 and was told you can disqualify her just because who her family was also she should have been disqualified due to credit score but guess what?? They didnt lower the standards in the 90's. Back then if you ever smoked reefer, you couldnt get on. If you had a domestic history, you couldnt get on. If you had too many parking tickets you couldnt get on. Even a misdemeanor conviction was enough to move you to the unqualified list. Sometime during the late 90's when they shut down the CHA police, they lowered the standards to let some of them on. Cook County sherrifs were never qualified to work as CPD at one time. Today, it is anybody's guess.

Hendricks was a detective and after being a do nothing in A4 bc she was doing the RBT Lt, got detailed to some unit. She got caught shoplifting in 2013 at Whole Foods. Nothing happened until 2017 when she got caught doing it again in Louisiana in 2017. She eventually resigned. I’m sure there were plenty of times in between she never got caught.

People like this are what we hesitantly avoid calling mentally unstable. They get in trouble and fall through the systems cracks and their journey of further mental decline begins. They begin the mental gymnastics to justify their actions deep inside their own head. They exhibit a strange set of personality behaviors and when placed in a unit they are usually ostracized by their peers.
We had a couple of these officers in a unit I was assigned to. When they did talk about their issues it was very strange. They never assumed responsibility for their acts and had a long word salad ready when questioned about it. NO display of contrition or regret...They become medical abusers if they continue to work. The watch begins to resent them for not being a team player even more. And there is not a boss hole on this job who will put them on emergency medical leave and recommend a mental health evaluation. Which in all seriousness is exactly what they need.
CPD had a perfect opportunity (including video evidence) to get rid of a bad seed, and talked Walmart out of signing complaints. This is an officer who should have been call back bound and eventually separated from the department for the better good of the department. But no one cares about that. Morale falls a few more points, the officers stays on the job and becomes an anchor.
The cycle continues...
Our everyday prices are already pretty low. Maybe some CPD officers are just cheap.

Is this standard procedure for the watch Sgt to inquire about the mental health and life stress of every thief and go advocate on the thief's behalf to the store to drop the complaint if the shoplifter go who "Promises to seek help?" LOL.
