There are bad ideas, really bad ideas, and then there is whatever Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is proposing next. His latest desire is a head tax on job creation in the city.
America’s worst mayor is proposing a $21 a month tax on each employee of businesses that have more than a hundred employees. Chicago is facing a $1 billion budget shortfall for 2026, and the mayor’s office projects the tax would bring in about $100 million in new revenue. The mayor seems not to have heard of the truism that if you tax something you get less of it.

Mayor slave Conehead doesn't appear to have heard of companies like Citadel or Boeing. Citibank closed it's only corporate office on LaSalle Street a while back. United Airlines still maintained a suburban presence along with it's Sears Tower address, and they just downsized the downtown spot. McDonalds is is probably headed back to it's Elk Grove Village campus. And then there's a long time business called the Chicago Bears - based in Lake Forest, but about to abandon all ties with Chicago. The White Sox aren't far behind either.
Porkulous is nominally opposed to the head-tax....as long as companies relocate to the suburbs, he doesn't care what Mayor slave Conehead does. It's when companies like Caterpillar leave the entire state that Porky gets nervous and starts stress-eating again.

With another head tax, it looks like the remaining companies may elect to leave the big city. Rumor has it that the very profitable billion dollar corporation for Chicago Public School Education would go under with a balanced budget busting costly head tax worsening their tired, old annual stretched to the limits balance sheets. CPS bureaucrats would demand action with a clarion call for additional public funding and additional sources of funding.
Even the getting rich by getting paid Chicago Teacher's union is threatening to leave Chiraq with the double whammy of another city tax and an exhausted pool of performing at grade level CPS graduates to run their for profit enterprise. It seems as CTU and CPS revenues rise, city hall and the Springfield mafia keep taking more and more. And the CPS teachers have chimed in raising awareness to increasing tolllway authority tax tolls which would hike up the cost of traveling to and from the city for accomplished student educators justifying additional cost of living increases compensation demands.
Conehead would institute a city level income tax (like NYC) if he could, but he needs the state to legislatively approve it. Since he can’t, he will use this $252 a year head tax. He is not smart, what a fool.

My spouse's company left Chicago, then left Illinois and is now in a red state. It's much easier for the company without the taxes and woke rules that blue states force companies to enact.

The unspoken problem with this ridicules head tax idea is that the more large companies move from Chicago, the less tax monies generated for its cooperate fund. The less monies for the cooperate funds, the less monies for our pension.

IF Chicago taxes jobs, there will be fewer jobs. If Chicago increases Property Taxes, there will be less new construction combined with less maintenance of current houses.

...Unions could do the math. The annual premium for retirees over 50 on an ObamaCare plan can run upward of $15,000 for a single and $30,000 for a couple. Before Democrats sweetened the subsidies in 2021, government retirees with bigger pensions who were dropped onto ObamaCare would have had to pay their full premium cost. Heaven forefend, this might have pushed them to work longer.

What is not being fully told about this head tax is as follows. It is not being used to reduce the shortfall. It is going to be used to a newly invented program regarding violence. There is not enough money to fund the budget but this asshole is going to start a new, and I am sure redundant, program just to put more people on the payroll. This guy is just completely useless.
