For someone who whines about millionaires and billionaires not paying their "fair share," how about just paying what you're supposed to?
As president of both the Chicago Teachers Union and Illinois Federation of Teachers, Stacy Davis Gates wants government to take more from Chicagoans and businesses.
But despite making $273,105 as a union boss, she apparently doesn’t believe government should take from her.
Davis Gates has let $1,544 in Chicago water, sewer and trash bills pile up, according to the city’s Freedom of Information Act response from Dec. 16. She also owes the city $1,843 for parking tickets and speed violations.
We never made close to $273K, but you can bet on the few occasions we got a speeding ticket or a red light camera ticket, we paid it as soon as it arrived, because (A) we were likely ion the wrong and (B) there were job-related penalties if we ended up on that delinquent list.
Between the fines she and Conehead owe, Chicago might have had a balanced budget.

You know the school are the reason for the last major property tax hike in certain zip codes. And this CTU president thinks she above paying her fair share. Maybe she cannot afford to pay her water and ticket after the last property tax increase making communities unaffordable. Maybe she wait for amnesty or forgiveness for her bills. In the meantime, I got a few extra crumbs on my SSI Disability only to have my building take on school tax hikes. Democrats give and taketh away. And they is compassionate putting me on a property tax payment plan with interest. Chicago and Cook County elected peoples preach affordability but their taxing mandates force residents into the state of inequitable economic unaffordability.
Just speculation here… but maybe she isn’t paying her bills because they are going to her listed Chicago address but she doesn’t get them because she doesn’t really live there. Either that or she’s just an arrogant bitch.

Doesnt the city still hire law firms that specialize in collecting fines? Get a judgement and garnish her wages like they do to everybody else!

However, since returning to work in November, Pulaski has been restored to her previous administrative position and no disciplinary action has been taken against her, Joliet Patch learned through a recent Freedom of Information Act request to district officials.
As the current school year began, Patch reported that Pulaski pleaded guilty last summer to multiple crimes of retail shoplifting from the Target store in Shorewood along Route 59. The Shorewood Police Department conducted the investigation and made the arrest of Pulaski, now 47, back on March 16, 2024.

Gates is now head of a state teacher's organization from which she will be paid around 200 grand in addition to what the union pays her. Gates is also campaigning hard for a change in the state constitution so they can tax retirees. According to the state education office and our beloved governor, the schools are only 78% funded ( although Illinois spends more per pupil than other states). Every research study out there indicates that more money is not the answer to poor student performance. But, not to a liberal democrat.
City can't garnishee employee paychecks?? Yes, it takes a court order, but the Corporation Counsel should be adequate for such simple legal work.

The City put a brick on my friends Supervising Ele. license on a unpaid parking ticket from 1988. Had to pay the fines before they would let him renew. He doesn't remember being in the city then and couldn't prove it anyway. They can do that, but can't or won't chase Davis.
Correct and while on loan she accrues pension credit and adds to her years of CPS experience for her CPS teacher pension. This means she added 14 years while on loan from CPS to the CTU for her CPS teacher pension.

What's insane is SDG will use the best 4 out of her last 10 years' salary years to calculate her pension and that'll be 70% of the CTU salaries not CPS salaries. So, 70% of $273,00 = $191,000 with COLA increases every year. All paid for by Chicago taxpayers.
