All kinds of stupid - this bill is so poorly written:
HB-3320 would force gun manufacturers to pay fees to help cover the medical bills, rent, court costs, etc of violent criminals if they get shot by a lawful gun owner —while committing a crime!
That’s how Pritzker wants to ‘undo the effects of gun violence’ — by making gun manufacturers pay violent criminals if they get shot while committing a crime!
If a completely legal product sold in a completely legal manner is used legally....and said product functions properly and as designed, then there shouldn't be extraneous fees, fines or penalties attached to said product.
There's a petition to sign electronically to express your displeasure with said bill, but we all know Springfield routinely ignores these.
And if they don't ignore it, they merely do a "gut-and-replace" on some other piece of legislative bullshit like Fata$$ did with that other gun bill that was passed out of committee as an insurance bill after meeting all of the "open meeting" requirements, then had 100% of the language stricken and replaced with anti-gun legislation which was then passed in the dead of night.

So let me get this right...if the OFFENDER gets shot by a Citizen , (who legally owns a gun) in the act of committing a crime, then they would be able to sue gun manufacturers?? So, it's the guns fault an OFFENDER gets shot?? I guess Citizens don't have rights? Only Offenders? So again, Fatass and DemoRATS want to protect criminals. WTF is going on in this state? Fatass needs to go.
Is Porky going to include vehicles, knives, pens, rocks, etc. in that bill?!
This will never fly with the Interstate Commerce Clause. If it did, then they'd be able to tax auto manufactures the same way, as more people die by car than gun in this country.

Does this mean that the victim of a crime who does NOT have, own, possess or legally brandish a firearm in the course or commission of becoming a victim of an otherwise illegally armed individual might also be entitled to receive compensation from this newly created slush fund? Or will this fund only be available to alleged perpetrators who are stopped in the course of committing or attempting to commit a crime violent or attempted violence by an otherwise lawfully armed member of the community? That is if after the fully funded slush account is not substantially drained for some dummyRats pet project.
That "Illinois Firearms Association" is nothing but an empty suit, Aaron Dorr, with a PO Box in Peoria who has never been in Springfield, much less in Illinois. I don't think he understands this legislation, the so-called RIFL act. But he sure is good at putting together slick graphics that make it look like he knows what he is doing, unlike the two or three competing gun-rights groups in Illinois. People actually send this guy money.
We should be able to apply a law like that to Illinois politicians.
Heads Up! The outfit pushing the petition you’ve cited is run by Aaron Dorr. Run his name. It seems he also owns another state gun association in Indiana. It appears this IFA has done nothing to protect the 2nd amendment, but just solicits funds to “save it”. I wouldn’t add my name to his list. It sounds as if he’ll aggregate the names and sell the list. Be careful.
This law would run counter to several federal laws and would get booted in court. But these lamebrains don't mind spending millions in taxpayer funds on lawsuits that they ultimately lose because it's not their money.

This Bill will do more harm in limiting firearms and munitions by having manufacturers write off doing business in Illinois.
The Bill will of course be challenged, but in the meantime businesses will lose money and legit citizens will have their 2A Rights infringed because manufacturers have decided to leave the state.
So if I’m driving drunk and injure someone my vehicle manufacturer should now be responsible for medical bills and court costs for the injured party?

Here's an idea: How about the CRIMINAL who gets shot can cover his/her/it's own medical bills? You want to commit a crime and get shot for your efforts? Well, that's great Pook - ya'll got patched up at the hospital, ya'll can PAY YO DAMN BILLS.

This is in clear violation of the PLCAA (Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act). This will never pass constitutional scrutiny, but the GA could care less since they can crank out this garbage faster than SCOTUS can knock it down.
The end result will be every gun manufacturer in Illinois remaining will leave, and take those skilled jobs with them. Every state around us would be thrilled to have that tax base.
