No Remote Learning?

Schools were closed Friday because the teachers wanted another paid holiday.

No mentions of "remote learning" so kids didn't fall behind.

About that....

How many millions were spent just a couple years ago for computers and software so that teachers could have almost two-years of off-site work, teaching remotely while test scores plummeted and social skills were destroyed? And what ever happened to all those computers?

It gets a little chilly and all that "global plandemic prep work"  isn't up to handle a single day of sub-zero temps?

Makes us wonder.

You know CPS and every school has built in snow and weather days right??? I have ctu and CPS but my kids in catholic schools had a few weeks of elearning too during covid. Friday school was cancelled. No elearning just a good ole fashion snow day. Kids had a great time being off.

All the schools that have under 1/3 capacity registered students need to be closed down.

How about the County Clerks not working cause it is too cold, so they had to cancel court. This is starting to go to far. It is winter, it is going to be cold. My mail man was still working but it is to cold for clerks to walk into a sit in a heated building.

Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates:

"There's a lot of talk in America right now about Nazis. What it means for Nazis to be in charge. And I think to myself, what history teacher didn't tell the unadulterated truth. Nazis were trained by Americans. By southern Americans wholly invested in Jim Crow. Jim Crow is what gave you the Nuremberg laws? Not the other way around."

CPS teachers do not get paid for snow/cold days. If CPS makes up the day at the end of the year they get paid for the make-up day. If CPS decides not to make up the day (which happens) then they do not recoup the lost day.

Not only at CPS but thousands of computers were given out at Chicago City Colleges to students and have never been returned nor does CCC attempt to track the now stolen laptops.

Funny how non-CCC persons call/come into CCC IT departments looking to have their newly acquired laptops from pawn shops and eBay to be re-activated/unlocked so they can use them.

Lots of waste at CCC because the City uses it as an extension from CPS. 35-40% of CCC students reading /math skills are still at grammar school level.

Not to mention the GED students who have been enrolled for 10 years and still can't get their GED.

Yet Danny Davis, Bobby Rush have earmarked millions of dollars to Chicago and speak about the system keeping people down and in their 30-40 year reigns speak of systemic failures, but have done nothing to address those problems except to throw money at organizations but never come up with a fundamental solution. Again they are politicians and just love to talk.

Will the teachers get another cheese and "whine" party Monday. Morning wind chills will be 30 below. They might also be a little tired after their trip to Floydeapolis.

Just another excise to stay home and get paid to do nothing...at least the NY Commie Mayor had the balls to say either kids are going to school in a snowstorm or it will be remote learning..either way NO day off for the kiddies. Thats the way our asshole illiterate Mayor should have said to our school system and kids as well...REMOTE learn, esp since our kids are failing badly. After all, its about the kids!!!

Hey Conehead and the CTU...STATE LAW section 10-19 of the School Code says that students are required to have a minimum of 176 days of in person attendance..are they going to add on another day at the end of the school yr? My guess is no. The public school system is a complete JOKE and a FAILURE, not to mention a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Boo Hoo, Its cold. Shit, when I was young i had to walk through bitter cold, snowstorms and wait for busses in sub-zero cold. Its weather in Chicago, it happens! Bunch of liberal, woke pansies. The mail carriers were even out..no wonder the weak always work for CPS, they get paid to do nothing.

The best part of the 2 year teacher holiday. CTU squealed like the pigs they are when CPS asked them to perform 3 hours of live stream teaching a day during the shut down. Oh lordy I’ll miss my stories.

Why doesn't CPS post the daily rate of absent students?
Probably because they don't want taxpayers knowing 25%+ students opt out of class?
A little transparency would be nice.
