Cynthia White Died?
If you're old, you remember her.
What we remember is that an entire Tact team in 002 either went to jail or got fired (or both) while she skated after wearing a wire and testifying in court against them all. It was claimed she was rooting out a corrupt team, but team members said she was in on all of the corruption - she just flipped first.
The trouble is not only did she skate, she managed to get promoted to sergeant, lieutenant, captain (we think) and Inspector. That isn't because she was some super smart test taker. We think she held back just enough info on someone heavily connected and parlayed it into advancement
A more controversial figure would be hard to find.

Not a very nice person, I’ll leave my comments at that.
She would stay late for free in order to interview arrestees in 005 to ask them if the arresting officers mistreated them and then pull cr numbers while off duty.
I remember bit's & pieces. Shortly thereafter, my partner started acting really funny and openly taking to her.. I told my sgt n then dropped paper to my cpt & watch secretary stating immediately remove me from the team, put me bk on the watch and do not tell why. Strange times back then

The mere fact that C. White made Captain shows the promotional process is majorly flawed. She was clueless and extremely discriminatory to people under her command. She would make everything more difficult than it had to be.

This turd got a CR on detectives on her first day in the 005th district. She interviewed prisoners asking them if they had any complaints. My partner and I had at least one CR she initiated by interviewing our drug addict prisoner in the lockup. She was a pos. I remember when one of the former tact officers she helped put in prison came into the 005th district station when he got out of prison. She went into hiding. We had to do visits at her West Pullman home to make sure she was ok. Oooookkkkkkaaasyyyyyyy….

If I recall the district commander got dumped to 011 and reverted to his civil service rank of captain. It boggles the mind that every team or group of coppers bent on stealing thinks they are smarter than the previous teams or groups of coppers who have gotten caught.

I remember her in 005 and a lot of coppers jumped ship when she was there. She was dirty as fuck back then and one of few police officers authorized to live outside the city for safety reasons. A copper she put in jail came into 005 one day looking for her after he got out. She cowered in the w/c’s office and ordered officers to throw him out. No tears shed here.

She worked BIA, then back in dist as a sgt and allowed to live in suburbs "for her safety" < which is bullshit. Leroy O'Sheild former commander of CHA Police, posed as a crooked commander on the take.

I graduated from the Academy with her. I believe she retired as a Captain. A handful of cops plead guilty before going to trial.
Superintendent Leroy Martin berated her for going to FBI. I THINK she spent most of her later career in IA assignments. I don't believe she was in on it from the beginning. She just wouldn't look away or transfer. She later married a cop.

An IAD video of a 2nd District tac officer chasing Cynthia White around one of their on-duty hangouts in nothing but his underwear has been something of a CPD legend for decades. What isn't a made-up story is the mutts they have been hiring for the past several years. We had a handle on police corruption for a long time. Now it's set to get much worse than anything from the 1980s-90s. If you're a dirty cop, pedo or drug addict on this job you are a damn fool and deserve everything you get.
She got caught with Mardren Johnson (Cmdr.), on covering for dope dealers and gambling joints in 002.. They both flipped on their own tac team. White had her apartment wired with audio and video. It got so bad, her husband ,who was a Sgt, found out and went nuts that it was wired without his knowing. Basically the G told her, "You're either working for us, or going to prison." And she was a miserable bitch when she was a P/O and got progressively worse as she ascended the ladder, as her reward. No tears shed for her. She did blow up to the size of the Goodyear blimp over the years.
Got to the 002 District in November 86 and one day there was crime scene tape around the tact office. I thought to myself “ what have I gotten myself into?”
Yes, she was handed a captain's star as well as being an inspector. She was even allowed to live outside of the city due to threats by the guys she lied about and sent to prison. One guy after getting released actually walked into the back door of 005 and walked into her office to let her know he was out.
I will be stopping by her burial site so I can pay my respects after I finish up a few beers.

Came on in 86 , sent to 002. There were two classes in front of us after no hiring for eight years. I was 22, fairly clean cut, new academy graduate. Sent to 002, no one was very friendly. Assigned to midnight, most conversation was polite. Not too much said. Finally as I was walking down the hallway another officer from a class ahead introduced himself as Dan . We briefly chatted and he stated I was the only guy that would talk to him. Everyone else was standoffish and unfriendly. I had the same experience and we thought it was strange. Like " The Body Snatchers" strange. Cynthia White was the district secretary and another officer, while on duty, was driven to the lakefront and had his shirt torn off to reveal the wire he was wearing. Then everyone knew the Feds were in the district. We were thought to be those Feds. After a few months of my silly shit adventures in the projects there seemed to be acceptance that I was too stupid to be a Fed so things loosened up. White had an entire tac team locked up, some bosses locked up , and the G washed the shit off of her even though she was as dirty as the all of them. The rest as they say is history. And every comment on this mornings posting is absolutely true.

If memory serves me correctly, White and Mardren Johnson got caught selling I-Bonds. The G flipped them and set her up in an apt in Lake Meadows. The dirty guys on the team would go there and drop off their envelopes all while being filmed and recorded. From time to time, I would get plucked off the watch to fill in whenever the day team was short a body for a detail. One day I'm in the mens locker room and in comes C White and stikes up a conversation with me. I'm thinking why the fuck is a woman in the mens locker room and why is she talking to me. Never spoke one word to her before.
I come home from work one day and my wife tells me she thinks our phone is being tapped. Every time shes on the phone she hears clicking sounds. I tell her shes crazy, it's probably interference on the line. A few months later the indictments comdown. I told her she was probably right. White and Johnson are gone and in come Jimmy Whigham from 011 as the new DC.

I was a supervisor in 002 in the mid 80's. Your claim about Comdr Johnson is bullshit. He was a standup guy and was regularly praised by the U.S. Attorney Anton Valukas for his assistance in prosecuting those mutts.
I was on a team in an undisclosed district in Area One and my teammates were so afraid of dealing with her that a couple of times they sent me down with the arrest report for her approval. Even if someone else was in Box 1 and 2! Fun times!!!

I was a sergeant of a tact team that was sent to 5 for one of those saturation type missions. Possibly called EDGE mission if I recall. She refused to sign a couple of arrest reports for my team so I went in to speak to her. She was indeed a inept person who could not provide a valid reason for not signing the arrest reports other than she did not like outside units coming into "her" district. I rounded up my team at that point and we left! Never heard any repercussions from that. What a goof she was.

He worked security at the Sears Roebuck employee store at Arthington and Homan where the ‘Ol Man took me and my five siblings to buy clothing. Charlie was jovial and pleasant and always happy to see my dad-who never took a dime. Charlie was also the bagman for the 011 Dist. Commander George Sims. Back then they took from the policy wheel and other gamblers and the unlicensed bars known as “beer flats”.
