An Actual Recall Law?

Proposed by LaShawn Ford?

  • Among the top 15 cities in the U.S., Chicago is one of only four that does not allow voters to recall the mayor.

But state Rep. La Shawn Ford, D-Chicago, recently filed a bill in Springfield (House Bill 1084) that would allow Chicago voters to initiate a mayoral recall election.

There's an actual form to fill out at the top link. What the Hell....click it, fill it in. Make sure you tell friends and relatives.

Might as well add in anyone currently residing in the cemetery....they already vote, why not contact their representatives and let the representatives know they aren't happy with Conehead either.

1. What do they mean by "top 15 cities"?
2. No way the democrats in this state will let this law pass, unless the requirements are unachievable.

He files this every year. And like most of the stuff he files, it isn't likely to make it into law.

OT: you know is most troubling to me is the amount of really good PO’s, Sgt and Lts that have given up on this job. They don’t even take promotional exams anymore and have zero drive to move up in this department. This is so telling of the state of this department. Our best leaders know better and are trying NOT to be in a position of leadership because of how shitty this place is. I know fantastic Lts that would make amazing commanders and captains, but they’ve given up. They don’t even put in to try. Same with Sgt’s. They are just trying to ride out wherever they’re at and make it to the end. That’s not the sign of a good company/department. We are not getting the best of the best as leaders and are stuck with a bunch of hacks because our best don’t want the job. Something has to change.

The Los Angeles inferno scenario playing out right now is a harbinger of Conehead and Preckwinkles current fiscal spending plans and CTU negotiation.
What match will spark the Chicago inferno?
You can bet an elected Democrat will be holding it? Maybe Stacey?

Gubbenor recall law would certainly receive majority of downstate votes. Or better yet, divide the state into five zones east to west, north to south. ANY candidate that requires a STATE-WIDE BALLOT to be elected would be required to receive majority votes in three of the five zones, along the lines of the electoral college.

It’s true that some good leaders don’t advance on this job but on the other hand it’s always been about who you know or who you blow. And race plays a huge factor too so…….

The really sad part about this is that as a voting population we are so stupid that we elect these fools and then a year and a half later we are looking to get rid of them. Do your homework on the candidates before you vote. Don't vote based on race, ethnicity, political affiliation or how you may have a connection to the candidate. If the population would wise up before voting there would be no need for recalls.

They pay us a tremendous amount of money to do less and less we have zero supervision anyway we dress like we want we do what we want no accountability. What more could you want? How many coppers have left the job and are begging to come back because with the departments they went to they found out they are accountable. They even have to wear the same uniforms.

The recall effort will fail to reach the ballot. The powers will use an obscure law to limit ballot initiatives and keep it off the ballot. This was tried back in Harold Washington's day.

There is a cultural cancer that has effected this department long ago before my time. The body now is in rigamortis. Those with a brain smell it and recognize it. Like a guy with 20 plus on told me "This isn't a serious department". When they want to treat it as such hire as such and support it as such the majority of us will point laugh drive on for 20 and out.

He was a detective in Area 2 on 2nd watch, he committed suicide yesterday. Received the email from the sup later that day. I was expecting to come into work today(Saturday)and see EAP, peer support or even the clinician assigned to area 2. I thought maybe our commander would be there, maybe she would buy food for us or something but nope! There was no one there, it was just like any other day as if nothing happened. Then the wonder why we are killing our selves 70% higher rate than any other law enforcement agency in the nation. Moral is in the toilet, no one cares about us, it’s sad what these politicians, Hollywood and the citizens have done to this profession! Shame on our exempt members for not sticking up for us more, they are tone deaf. But yet they showed the videos at the compstat meeting this week of the officers being chased in their squad car around the district and of the red corvette doing donuts in front of the marked squad before slamming into the front end of the squad and taking off and the officers not taking any action. The sup and chief of patrol criticized the officers and not one boss spoke up and explain why the officers didn’t take action, we are demoralized and defeated. God forbid if they took action, they surely would take a suspension, be fired or charged.

Under the realm of King Richard I, the CFD promoted its share of clouted imbeciles but always maintained a group of Chief officers who knew their business. That idea faded quickly in the years after his death.
I was lucky enough to get invited into a great study group that "hit the books " hard! Our group's motivation was that for every 4 openings, we had a shot at 2 (1. for clout, 1 for quota [insert your euphemism here], and 2 for the regulars); this was before "merit promotions".
With merit I would estimate chances are now 1 out of 4 openings for regular FFs.
Since the 80's the city has given promotional exams actually designed for idiots to attain a passing grade (that schema changes to "balance numbers" each time). Most times it takes at least ONE YEAR for results but it has taken as long as over FOUR YEARS to issue results.. Lots of other hijinx have occurred, too numerous to list here!!
Ret. almost 20 yrs. so I can't speak for current status but guessing the same or worse!
