Wrapping Up 2024
Ten days into the New Year, it's probably mostly safe to say these are pretty solid homicide numbers for last year (numbers courtesy of HeyJackass.com, the only real source of crime numbers):
- 2024: 611 killed, 2,444 wounded
2023: 650 killed, 2,500 wounded
2022: 739 killed, 2,937 wounded
2021: 856 killed, 3,745 wounded
2020: 798 killed, 3,451 wounded
2019: 521 killed, 2,291 wounded
2018: 592 killed, 2,465 wounded
2017: 685 killed, 2,935 wounded
2016: 808 killed, 3,658 wounded
2015: 513 killed, 2,546 wounded
2014: 465 killed, 2,239 wounded
Avg: 663 killed, 2,877 wounded
So a definite downward trend....at least downward toward the late twenty-teens....before the St George of Fentanyl riots and the COVID shutdown / #blm crime waves.
If any changes are made over the coming months, well....we'll discover it somewhere.

It is slightly down but the leadership didn’t do anything to get it there. Overall crime is way to high. This is a huge problem.

How come all these gods gifts to the dept can’t seem to deter crime ? All these bosses and pretty boys in their fancy bs and take homes can’t find a solution. The numbers are only accurate if you believe them. I've no doubt a lot of "reclassifying" was involved. Like catalytic converter theft being reclassified as misplaced property. I'm sure numerous homicides were classified as accidental or operator error.
They have a recall petition to recall Mayor Conehead. State Rep LaShawn Ford says he has filed the mayor recall bill every year since 2015, and that he has filed a new one Let’s get rid of the entire administration for once and for all. They should’ve added the governor on there.

I have a beard. I refuse to shave it off. My sergeant told me about the new policy. I told him "ok, I have a medical condition" and he just took a deep breath and walked away.
Just like the covid vaccine, if officers resist and refuse to comply then the new policy will be reversed. Out of all the problems our police department faces, facial hair is not even on the top 50.

2024 went +2 homicides since New Years with a late passing from an early Dec shooting and the ME ruled a child abuse case a homicide. It will most likely tick a few more higher throughout the year as more of that happens.
We're going to start flipping the metrics over to 2025 this weekend now that we have enough data points to make our stupid charts.

Recently retired. Never had a bum card, never needed or wanted one. I was told to shave plenty of times. I kept my facial hair neat and trimmed and most people thought I had a bum card.
The only number that matters is the amount of lead that flies through the air. Killed, wounded, and missed is mostly a random number once the lead flies. It's odd to me why the punishment for killing, wounding, and missing is vastly different, even though the action of firing a gun towards people is the same.
They handcuffed the LA Fire Dept with no water just like how we are not allowed to use our tools to fight crime. But both instances were caught on film or digital storage or what ever. My point is dems run it, into the ground and the hole is getting deeper.
You’ll get the picture when u get spar’d. Then you’ll get a CR after u still don’t comply and start taking days fast. Dealt with officers like u before that felt the rules don’t apply to them. You’ll find out fast when you start getting chunks of your paycheck taken out. But, hey, you’ll still have that cool beard.
Shave your beard or get the bump card like you're supposed to. Do the rules apply to everyone but you? Your Sergeant is too nice. CPD is like a circus with super long nails, tons of jewelry, long hair, tight pants, long beards and mustaches.

I do not know if anyone has noticed. But all of the links to "Apply for Police Officer Job Opportunities" on the City's website are dead links. The City also has no civilian police jobs posted. Does this mean the "hiring freeze" now applies to the CPD? Also, the lateral and rehire links take you in circles.

Should teachers wear body cameras? I know. “What in the actual #$@$?”
Well, my first inclination about body cameras would be to say,” That is the absolute most ludicrous idea I have ever heard in my whole entire life.”
What about the privacy of teachers who know the administration will be combing through hours and hours of footage to catch us at approximately 25 minutes and 10 seconds in when we briefly glance at our phones to read a text from a parent? Or, if we decide to show a movie?
Year end body count just went DOWN to 610...and it's not even Easter.

If it's good enough for cops it is good enough for teachers.
At least with cameras they would have to wait till after hours to sexually abuse students.
