Nice Shot Citizen
A licensed concealed carry holder shot and killed a man who broke into his home and charged at him early Monday, a shooting that occurred inside a home directly across the street from a Chicago Police Department district station.
The 33-year-old concealed carry license holder called 911 at 1:24 a.m. and told dispatchers he had shot an intruder inside his home in the 2200 block of East 103rd Street and had already begun performing CPR on the man, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. His home is across the street from the South Chicago (4th) District station.
Officers arrived and took over lifesaving measures, but the intruder, who remained a “John Doe” as of Monday evening, was pronounced dead at 1:43 a.m.
The homeowner isn't required to attempt life saving measures?
Who would have thought?!?

Just secure the scene and wait for the CFD to arrive guys. In todays world the family and the ambulance chasing lawyers of firms that have gotten rich targeting everything you do might come back at you claiming you hastened the scumbags death by not performing life saving measures properly.

In my CCL class we were told to NOT give aid.
It undermines the idea that this man was such a threat you had to shoot him if you get down on the floor with him and give aid.
We were told the prosecutor would use you giving aid as proof that the intruder wasn't actually that dangerous and you didn't need to shoot them.
I'm not going to recommend anything stupid like "anchoring shots" but it really is in your best interest if that coffin lid is slammed down tight.
The shooter should get a Crimestoppers award.

We were told providing aid will be spun by the prosecutor to mean the person really wasn't that dangerous and you really didn't need to shoot them.

I am probably a fool, but I’m a retired cop who moved out of state. Although I know the chances of me having to shoot someone are pretty small, I am prepared in the case I have to pop some road rage idiot or in the very low probability that some asshole decides to invade my house. So, here is what’s going to happen if I do utilize deadly force. The guy is going to be dead because I’ve been trained to shoot until the danger is neutralized. I am going to call the cops. I will give 911 a very minimum account of the circumstances, tell them my gun is on the floor, unloaded at the front door that is wide open. I’m not a physician, but l’ll give some first aid, and wait for the cops. When the cops show up I will repeat what I told 911. I will then say attorney. That will maybe piss off some dimwit cop, who will arrest me and I will maybe get booked. If it’s worth killing a guy, then it’s worth risking going to jail. Probably won’t get charged (because I’m really, really old) but I will be sued.
Any reimbursement available for crime scene cleanup? Scrape congealed CSF, eyeballs, and bone fragments off ceiling, scrub and repaint walls...
