Officers Cleared

And it only took SIXTEEN MONTHS!

  • Chicago’s police accountability agency has cleared two Chicago police officers who shot and killed a man in Hammond, Indiana, last year.

In its final report, released Thursday, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability found that Joseph Navarro charged toward the officers after crashing his car and tried to shoot them. But his firearm apparently jammed, “likely saving one or both officers’ lives,” according to COPA.

CWB has video and this picture up:

Just for shits and giggles, we looked at this photo with one eye opened and one eye closed and you know what happened?

  • we determined in about sixteen SECONDS that the shooting was justified

The video is extensive and while no one performs exactly at 100% under the massive stress of a shooting, the Officers were able to eliminate the threat and go home intact. The dispatcher wasn't the best, but help got where it needed to be.

All in all, a good shoot, despite COPA's efforts to "make the process into the punishment" that they couldn't apply otherwise.
