Rumors! We've got ...well

nothing actually. the rumor mill has gone to sleep. maybe it's just quiet because of the most recent boss changes. or the captains being made. or the merit lieutenant letters being delayed until this monday. or the "hiring freeze" the mayor has put in place in the face of continuing federal pressure. has anyone heard anything about the dick's test? or a class of detectives before they announce the results of the latest test? we are hearing whispers of a class of 48-52 lieutenants shortly and some hints of sergeants following that, but nothing firm. anyone have anything? anyone? Bueller?

Heard the superintendent is angry at the Traffic Specialists at Major Accidents Investigative Section (MAIS)for filing a grievance to receive D2A pay. They now get D2.

Last week a new directive came out where area detectives must handle the investigation of any fatal accidents.

Is that why they canceled/delayed the final portion of the Traffic specialist exam? From what I've seen and heard, they almost never show up on the scenes of fatals and end up being called DAYS later trying to reconstuct scenes after victims die at the hospital. Traffic enforcement and accident investigation are sorry lacking in this department.

That's a good bet why it was cancelled. Some of these guys went to NW Traffic Institute and the like. Give 'em D2A.

The other day MAIS only had one guy working the 2nd watch for the entire city. A guy from 1st watch had to stay on to process a scene.

What a joke!!!! We're the second biggest department in the country but sometimes it is run like Andy of Mayberry.

Same thing with B and A too, I think. Heard they're short also.

There is not question that this unit is short on manpower. That doesn't excuse the POOR quality of their work. Before you scream at me, I will agree that their problems start with their supervision.
