Another Lawsuit to be Settled?

Channel 7 is reporting that the family involved in the Midway plane accident who didn't lose a family member is suing Southwest Airlines AND the city.
  • The suit contends that Southwest failed in its duty to operate, maintain and control the 737 so as not to cause injury to people. Southwest also breached the duty of care owed to Galindo by negligently and carelessly failing to properly assess landing conditions, the suit claims. The suit also alleges that Southwest was negligent and careless in its failure to abort the landing after the plane had bounced back into the air on touchdown.

The city is guilty of negligence, the suit alleges, for not closing down the airport on a night when conditions were unsafe, and for failing to provide a safe runway area.

Correct us if we're wrong, but isn't the FAA in charge of setting standards for whether of not a runway can be utilized? We're curious on this one - we really don't know the answer. The Dept. of Aviation is in charge of clearing the runways, but we always thought air traffic controllers and the FAA made final determinations on usage. Is this another "deep pockets" attempt to get money? We can see suing Southwest, but the city?

Yes, the land itself belongs to the city. But since the city has ignored the FAA's recommendations of stretching the runways, their probably going to be held accountable in some way or another.

Translation: We are SCREWED when it comes time for our next contract.

Yes we need to enlarge Midway not O'Hare. Just knock down those homes near the airport. The land is all in the city, so the fight would be easy.

BOYCOTT THAT ST.JUDES MARCH! No one comes there or cares anyway. Walk down the street after the parade. Lots of booze bottles everywhere. It looks like the march of the drunks. It would be funny to see the brass standing there with an empty street

^ABOVE^ Yet another entry by a non-police troll.
St. Jude honors all our deceased bretheren. Be there for that reason alone.
Troll, watch out for traffic when you're slinging them M&M's on the street corner and mind your own business.

Don't try to brainwash us with your brass bullshit. Based on your abject failure to come to the defense of our fallen heroes, John Gilhooly and Frank Rappaport, we don't need your sanctimonious hypocrisy and crocodile tears, you worthless, cowardly pieces of shit.

Shut the fuck up if you can't defend the honor of slain police officers! This will not go away, you spineless mothfuckers.

Eloquently stated, my brother. We hold the command staff of the the CPD in utter contempt. The cocksuckers are nothing more than treacherous Daley's puppets. They have lost all credibilty. Spit on them as the rats that they truly are.

And they have the nerve to condemn your honesty as the work of a troll. Political hack bosses must be shown that we will NOT be taken for granted. May these scumbags burn in Hell.

Rest in Peace:
Officer John Gilhooly
Officer Frank Rappaport
End of Watch: November 13, 1969

Perhaps the rank and file needs a "pep talk" from "Mr. Credibility" himself--Peter Karl, a seventeen dollar bill if there ever was one.

It is the deep pockets theory. Sue everyone!!!! Maybe someone will pay up. Maybe the city will settle, out of court, for a lesser amount, because to defend all the way to conclusion, it would cost the city much more than say $5,000 or $10,000 that they normally settle for.
Illinois - The land where we will take any frivolous lawsuit.
Remember, society is full of scumbags who profit for no reason at all. I will bet that the person who filed this lawsuit has "mental distress" and has not been able to hold a steady job since. My heart bleeds for you, liberal.

"No comment." The CPD "Minister of Propaganda" is conferring behind closed doors with the former "Minister of Defense" for the Black Panther Party.

It's all legit, ladies and gentlemen.

If they wear a gold star, they will sell their very souls to Satan and march in lockstep for their six-figure salary and the pension.

They could NOT care less about YOU or the ultimate sacrifices of John Gilhooly and Frank Rappaport.

This whole job is one huge dog and pony show.

ST JUDE

Where it matters for the bosses, is when you round that corner and salute, media thinks so also. Do not run off to breakfast so fast at the end of the march.

We know some feels St Jude is used by exempts. The more you have the better I look, so they stay away.

We know we march for our fallen. So they will come around that corner! Were carrying them around that corner that's why were there!

Hey guys, the new computer does not let us check pending jobs in 025. So I guess we will just have to do street stops for the last hour or so. Or get gas. Ehhhh.

I thought it was mentioned somewhere in the blogs, that option of checking pending jobs was taken out. You might get bonked on that comment.

Could you be lucid? What are you proposing?

The best tribute of all would be for individual officers to stop by their respective houses of worship and offer a prayer for the repose of the souls of our fallen comrades.

To do otherwise is only playing into the hands of Daley and his mealy-mouthed "exempts".

If Daley and the bosses come out and categorically condemn Rush's blasphemous proposal, we can reconsider our options.

Otherwise, fuck Daley and his whole crew of gold "Stepford" stars as the spineless cocksuckers that they truly are.

MAYBE IF THE CITY FOUGHT SOME OF THESE LAWSUITS, INSTEAD OF PAYING THEM ALL OUT, THAT WOULD SERVE AS A DETERRANT FOR PEOPLE FILING THESE HORSESHIT SUITS!

OUR CITY LAWYERS ARE THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF PUSSIES. GODFORBID YOU LOSE ONE CASE!!

What you need is media, do any of you have contacts. Make it clear at ST Jude. you are not there for the Mayor, or exempts but in spite of them.

Death March for the fallen. There is a salute right at the end to honor the GRANDSTAND, use it. What are they going to do nail every officer in the march, and for what? Salute the families on the side lines your supporters. Have flags in those area's. Every step of the way.

Just stay one step ahead of DA BOSS 11 and his required bidders of seat. Where is the union ideas?

Unless the City changes their stance on the Black Panther Party cop killers, just don't go. Say private prayers for our fallen comrades.

What can they do? Issue thousands of SPAR forms?

Spars No, now what they will do for you is a uniform inspection as a no show.

Your choice what you do, the officers going will be lifting the fallen during the march.

Actually it is the city (Airfield Operations part of the DOA) that decides the runway's condition based on braking tests. The air traffic controlers just pass the information. Usually there are specific guidelines for each airport (or airfield) that determines what is accepteable and what is not. Slush for instance cannot be on the runway at all. Of course the Airlines will take a hit but the city is liable as well.
