The Sun Times today quotes the information that has been appearing on this site for a couple of days that the black panthers were much more than "all talk" regarding "off the pigs." Some of our readers came up with the Rappaport and Gilhooly killings long before the Times decided to quote the Officer Down Memorial Page. Such is the ability of blogs and alternative media to fact check the main stream media's ass into oblivion. You all deserve a hearty congratulations for beating the media to the punch.
Let's not stop there.
Paul Huebl (aka Crimefile), who has been taking quite a bit of abuse in the comment sections lately, has come up with an excellent idea that we heartily endorse. If the panthers were all talk and figures of speech, perhaps it's time we "offed" a certain aldercreature. By no means are we endorsing violence against aldercreature Haithcock - that would be crude. And illegal. The tagline for this blog is "Sarcasm and Silliness" after all. We're just all talk.
If only we had a few bosses step up and make a little talk. Rappaport and Gilhooly can't. All of us owe them that much.

Give me a break SCC. There are a few good bosses out there who would love to raise hell over this bitch. If they were going to say something it should come from their unions or very carefully from a coalition of them. Your not going to see that happening. Just as disappointing as the lack of leadership on this department is the lack of leadership in the black community. I am suprised that aldermen Carothers and Ed Smith are not out trying represent the black community in a better light. There will a backlash for this and it won't come just from white people. The Hispanics won't tolerate this B.S.. It is the part of the reason that the Republicans control everything in Washington today and in the forseeable future at the federal level. No way will Hispanics ally themselves to the blacks with this BS.
Unfortunatley this whole episode can only work in Daleys favor. Joyce and Degnan know what there doing and they have built Mayor goofballs empire on shit like this. This is what Daley is all about. Keep black and whites at each others throat so he, the lowest common denominator, can run things and steal as much as his friend can run off with. These Blacks play right into his hands because as they're leadership see it they are on their way out of the city anyway.
Daley now wants to tax your water usage. That should be the real topic of discussion on this blog. This piece of shit has everyone talking about the fucking Black Panthers when he's about to impose (really increase since you've always paid for water in the city) a metered water system. That is what should be on everyones mind right now. If your not a yuppie or dual income no kids couple you are so fucked by this ass wipe it isn't even funny. While they're being forced out to the suburbs (the shitty suburbs) they're leadership is trying to get streets named afer the Black Panthers.

I'll give you O.W. criticism. That guy invented the modern 9-11 system as a way to keep police officers busy responding to squeaky wheels. On the one hand, it made them mostly unavailable for burglarizing appliance stores in the Summerdale district on mids.
But the 9-11 system was an unmitigated disaster for professional policing in this country. The city tried to backtrack and have it both ways by implementing "CAPS", but CAPS dispatching is instantly a policy on paper only.
4000 or 5000 POs assigned to districts, perhaps 3000 or 4000 actually responding to 9-11 calls in any given week. So they tell the citizens "call us for anything, really we mean it", they work the patrol division ragged oiling squeaky wheels, they hide 5000 to 8000 POs doing who knows what, and who gets to take care of the CAPS stuff? You know, getting back to the days when police actually knew their communities? Why its the same officers in the patrol division that they are running ragged the other 160 to 176 hours per month.
Don't get me wrong. O.W. was an honest man, and he was considered a genius in his time. He was smart. His idea of accountability vis a vis the 911 system wasn't even all that bad. The problem was once the politicians got ahold of it. Next thing you know there's a "call us for anything"... and its all top priority.
I'd still take him over anyone since. He would never have let the mistakes continue more than a year or two, let alone for the next 40 that they have. And he cared about results and relations as much as Bratton. But there's as much of a swipe as I can take at O.W.
Has anyone asked the residents of "Chairman Fred Hampton Way" what they think of the proposal? I can't believe all the publicity and extra parking enforcement it brings to the block would endear them to the idea.
So Haithcock claims that the Panthers cry of "OFF THE PIGS! was nothing more than merely harmless rhetoric.

Your right! My neighbor next door (a copper) has a meter and several times a year they get an $600 - $900 water bill. They then call the water Dept. who come out after 10-15 calls and they run some tests and tell them, "one of your toilets must be running".
Pay the bill because your a city worker and the ramifications are far more serious.

The Panthers also ran a "free people's clinic" named after the cop-killer Winters at 3850 W. 16th St. in 010.
As a rookie, I was assigned to the old 20th District when it extended from Montrose all the way north to Juneway Terrace.
There was definitely a panther clinic on the Wilson, possibly in a 2-story walk-up between CFD Engine 83 and Magnolia. I'm 100% certain that the name SPURGEON something was on an outside sign and it was not on a corner and was in either the 1100 or 1200 block of Wilson on the north side of the street.
Talk about ironic go to 2337 w. monroe, amongst the urban pioneers that bought up all buildings on block one can notice 2337 w. monroe clearly.....It the 3 flat project building!!!!! mules included. What a surprise huh? Look for yourself

Perhaps local TV, print and radio media would be decent and even-handed enough to pursue this question. I wouldn't count on it. Many of their reporters were not yet born on November 13, 1969. Even among those that were alive, most were not even in the Chicago area during those turbulent times.

Someone said the Sup's on vacation. He ought to come out on this issue strong. His biggest goal in life is to build the police memorial, which is great. But, allowing a street to be named for a cop killer, even though he didn't pull the trigger he is an accomplice, flies in the face of everything he is trying to do with this memorial. It insults every police officer in our city, and every other city where the Panthers murdered officers. It insults every officer working now and every officer who wore the badge. The superintendent needs to step up. What impact would it have if the Sup. told the Mayor and the press he would resign if this street thing goes through? It is hard to get behind him on this memorial if he doesn't get behind us and the families of those affected by the Panthers on this street renaming.

Forgotten Facts
Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that a fellow black named Alex Rackley needed to die. Rackley was a fellow Panther suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied to a chair. Once safely immobilized his'friends'tortured him for hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him. When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member Warren Kimbo took Mr. Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Conn.
Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers. In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard. He later became an assistant dean at Eastern Connecticut State College. Isn't that something? As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into someone's head,and a few years later, in the same state, you can become an assistant college dean! Only in America!
Erica Huggins was the lady who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California School Board. How in the world do you think these killers got off so easy? Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial. One of these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a California School Board. He is now head of the U.S. Justice Department's Civil Rights Division.
O.K., so who was the other Panther defender?
Is this other notable Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean? No, Neither! The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at the time. She is now known as The "smartest woman in the world." She is none other than the unofficial Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate from the State of New York ---- our lovely First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Part 3: McCarthyism Redux
The facts of the case, so far as they can be confirmed, are not the main point of contention here. At issue, rather, is how the facts are represented and commented upon in such a way as to make them seem damning. Examining the evidence objectively, readers may find reason to disagree with Ms. Clinton's college-age politics and even question her judgment in certain matters, but they will find nothing to support the inference that her actions at the time went beyond legal or moral bounds.

As to the misrepresentation of the facts, here are the main objections:
Was Hillary Clinton a "defender" of the Black Panther murderers?
Not in the sense implied. Remember, these were accused murderers at the time she and other campus activists took up their cause (unless presumption of innocence somehow doesn't apply here). Secondly, there was a widespread suspicion among leftists that the Panther leaders had been framed by police and in any case were unlikely to get a fair trial in New Haven. Lastly, it's evident from the role for which Clinton volunteered during the actual trial – that of observer for the American Civil Liberties Union – that her interest lay precisely in its fairness and legality.
Did Clinton help the accused murderers "get off easy?"
No. How could she have? She played no direct role in the trial or sentencing.
Did Clinton organize demonstrations that "shut down" Yale University?
She was involved in such demonstrations, but how major a leadership role she played is under dispute. Eyewitness accounts place her at planning meetings but also characterize her as contributing a "moderate voice" to those proceedings. For the record, the demonstrations did not "shut down" the university. Similar protests went on at schools across the country.
Does Clinton's participation in the demonstrations and trial 30 years ago reflect negatively on Clinton in the present?
Only if you assume that student activism is bad and that having once been involved in it taints one for life. Taking into account the turmoil of the times and the widespread spirit of dissent on college campuses everywhere during the Nixon/Vietnam era, Clinton's documented activities were relatively tame and rational. One can certainly disagree with her politic beliefs, but the evidence shows Clinton was neither anti-American nor a gun-toting revolutionary, however much certain parties in the present would love you to think so.
The Smear Campaign Continues
David Mikkelson's thoughtful dissection of the email rumor also supplies some of the missing context required to objectively judge Clinton's allegiances and activities at the time. It also betrays the motives of those so adamantly perpetuating the smear, and thus has aroused their ire. Mikkelson's piece was derided on one conservative message board as a "a thinly-veiled whitewash." The angry reader wrote: "The learned liberals with their college libraries and research powers appear to first find an answer they like and then use their intellect and university education to obfuscate the truth that might hurt their views or their hallowed leaders."
In other words, we're to assume Mikkelson must have a left-wing agenda and his critique was biased. Unsurprisingly, no one on the message board took issue with Mikkelson's exoneration of G.W. Bush in the racial covenant affair, a case in which the smear tactics originated from the left. The fact is, Mikkelson and his wife, Barbara, have established an unblemished track record of political impartiality over the years.
Another nexus of conservatism on the Net, "Insight Magazine," regurgitated the anti-Clinton allegations in 2001 in an article entitled "Hillary Hides Her Panther Fling." It offers testimony verifying that both Clinton and Bill Lann Lee "indeed were student leaders during the Panther protests" and concludes from that rather bland fact that each can therefore be held accountable for the accused murderers "getting off easy." But it's not entirely a muddleheaded rehash. The article goes on to enumerate in some detail Clinton's contacts with various communists during the time period in question.
You heard right. Insight reveals that Hillary Clinton associated with communists in her youth.
Is it true? Yes. Among the lawyers trying the Panther case were some communists and former communists. Clinton knew them and worked with them.
Was Clinton herself a communist? No. Did she advocate a communist takeover of the United States? No.
Then what is the point of "naming names" of these people Clinton knew and worked with as a student activist 30 years ago? To find her guilty by association, we must conclude.
Some reading this may be too young to recall, but in the 1950s this particular tactic came to be known as "McCarthyism," and has been roundly condemned in the ensuing decades. But, as I said at the outset, the age-old dirty tricks are still very much in vogue and I would be hard-pressed to scrounge up a more perfect contemporary example.

Rackley was first tied to a chair. Safely immobilized his "friends" tortured him for hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him.
When they got tired of torturing Rackley Black Panther member Warren Kimbro took Mr. Rackley's outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Conn.
Maybe at this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers. Well, in 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard. He later became an assistant dean at Eastern Connecticut State College.
Isn't that something? As a 60's radical you can pump a bullet into someone's head, and years later, in the same State, you can be an assistant college dean! Only in America!
Ericka Huggins was the lady who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California school board.
How in the world do you think that these killers got off so easy? Well, maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial. One of those people was none other than Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a California school board. He is the head of the U.S. Justice Departments Civil Rights Division. Lee is serving in that capacity, illegally, by the way, but that's another story — another part of the Clinton saga of ignoring the rule of law.
O.K., so who was the other Panther defender? Is this other notable Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean?
Nope, neither. The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at that time. She is now known as The Smartest Woman in the World. She is none other than the unofficial Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate from the State of New York — our lovely First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Call or e-mail the Concerns of Police Survivors, let them know! I just sent them a lengthy e-mail letting them know how disgusting it is that Chicago wants to do this. When the silent majority of black Americans decide that they have had enough of the PC bullshit, then it will stop. We don't see the majority of black America, because they are too busy being normal....raising their families, working at their jobs, living their lives.

Ald. Madeline Haithcock has publicly stated that the Panthers incessant cries of "OFF THE PIGS!" was nothing more than rhetoric or "trash talking".
Panther Spurgeon "Jake" Winters only claim to "fame", actually infamy, was the fact that he murdered two police officers at 58th & Calumet on November 13, 1969.
Add to that, the fact that the BPP subsequenty "memorialized" Winters by naming two of their "clinics" on 16th St. and on Wilson Ave. after the 19-year-old cop killer.
Consequently, it would be impossible for Rush, Haithcock or anyone else to deny that the Panthers openly advocated the wanton slaughter of police officers.
Haithcock also indicated that if her resolution caused devisiveness in the PD and the City, she would withdraw her incendiary proposal.
Using the documented notoriety of the BPP and Haithcock's vow to recant, you would think that the media and politicians would hold Haithcock's feet to the fire. We could end this insanity forthwith.
Should she persist in the street sign outrage, it becomes obvious to all that she's merely playing the race card for political expediency.
