I believe you are referring to Joanne Chesimard, alias Assata Shakur, the "Mother of the Black Liberation Army" who "masterminded" the murders of NYPD Officers Joseph Piagentini, Waverly Jones, Rocco Laurie and Gregory Foster in separate double murders.
She was also convicted of killing a NJ State Trooper, execution style. As you noted, she escaped from prison and fled to Cuba for "asylum" under Castro. At last reports, the State of New Jersey has offered a one million dollar reward for Chesimard's arrest.
Being somewhat knowledgeable in the areas of serial and police murders, I would easily state that Chesimard is the most notorious known female cop-killer in the annals of modern U.S. crime.

ST. AUGUSTINE -- A man showing off his OnStar system in his Cadillac Escalade found out the system worked too well.
Ralph A. Gomez, 38, was being held in the St. Johns County Jail Wednesday on $15,000 bond on charges of possession of an illegal narcotic within 1,000 feet of a church and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Gomez was showing off his OnStar system to his girlfriend, but the volume was set so low that he couldn't hear the OnStar operator. OnStar comes on many new General Motors vehicles and allows a customer to contact an OnStar representative in an emergency or to get directions.
If there is no response, OnStar contacts police.
That's what happened with Gomez on Friday night, Tom Clements, a spokesman for the St. Augustine Police Department, said Wednesday.
When police located Gomez' car, they determined there was no problem. But Clements said cocaine was clearly visible on the car's center console.
In addition to seizing $1,900 in the case, the Cadillac equipped with the OnStar system was also seized, Clements said.
There was no information available from Clements or the jail on whether Gomez has a lawyer.

I think that the FOP should file a class action law suit against the City, County, & State stating that they are a public nuisance. This lawsuit would state that Chicago Police Officers should no longer have to live in a City, County, or State that has persistently shown a prevalence of corruption. We all would have standing in this lawsuit in that our tax money has funded the corruption of Daley, Stroger, and Ryan. And it is against our constitutional right to have to continue to fund this corruption. We therefore should be allowed to reside in whichever City, County, of State we choose.

How do you find out how a vote went in committee. The reason I ask is that the Transportation Committee of alderman gave this proposal approval. If it was not for this approval, this proposal would never have made it out of committee. I want to know if my alderman in a large police voting area, (Rugai), who is on this committee, voted for or against this proposal. If she voted for this, she needs to go!!!!

For those of you who are unaware - Aaron Patterson's father was a 30-plus year policeman, retired as a Lt. in the past few years. Left for awhile in late 80's, came back in 91-92.
We have met the enemy and he is us. Someday we should catalog all of those of us who have family members who have ended up in the penitentiary or who have murdered others. Look at beyond Ray Patterson's son, to Sgt. Frank Skroch's son, to Sgt. Gene Hunt's son, to Edward Leak, to Sgt. Stanley Patterson, to Sgt. Bill Patterson, to Cmdr Joe Mayo's nephew, P.O Arron Mayo, and the list goes on. Neither black or white officers are immune. We have spawned killers, rapists, thieves, and drug abusers. Is it any wonder that a large segment of the community feels uneasy when dealing with the police. Think about it before you condemn the BPP out of hand and without knowing the facts.

Here we are, 37 years after he was brutally assassinated along with fellow Panther Mark Clark, and the Chicago branch of the Fraternal Order of Police continues to be angered by his bitter denunciations.
Did we expect them not to be pleased with an ordinance calling for a Chairman Fred Hampton Way street to be named in his honor? Absolutely. But what is egregious – no, downright distasteful – is the inability for the Fraternal Order of Police to not accept why Hampton was so angry at officers that he would call for their murder.

There was rampant and frequent abuse against African Americans by police departments nationwide, and Mayor Richard J. Daley’s city was no different. Law enforcement officers were supposed to be sworn to protect and serve. But when it came to African Americans, they used their badges and guns to terrorize, brutally beat, and in many instances, kill Black men and women.
This is the real story of Chicago and America; the one no one wants to discuss and keep hidden from the kiddos.
We are raised to respect law enforcement, but why in the hell didn’t they reciprocate? We are supposed to care about those police officers and their families, but they showed no regard for our lives and our families.
A bogeyman didn’t create the anger that welled in the spirit of Fred Hampton and countless other Black Panthers and Black men who had no voice or platform to speak from. It was that oppressive spirit known as the Chicago Police Department.
And for the Fraternal Order of Police to register their righteous indignation is beyond belief.
Hampton’s denunciations were the effect. The cause? Sanctioned police terrorism against defenseless Black folks. But when the Panthers decided that the Second Amendment applied to them, then the police department grew angry, calling them a terrorist organization. They must have come to the conclusion that only one terrorism group should have the right to carry weapons – them.
Since Mark Donahue, Sidney Davis and other officials in the Fraternal Order of Police are so angry at the suggestion of naming a street after Hampton, where is their official resolution calling for the U.S. Congress to remove the name of J. Edgar Hoover from the headquarters in Washington, D.C. Here is a man who broke the law and subverted the U.S. Constitution, yet our government recognizes him on what is supposed to be the epitome of law enforcement – the FBI?
We would have far more respect for the Fraternal Order of Police if their disposition against naming a street after Hampton would extend to Hoover. We would be willing to listen to their grievances if they offered the African American residents of Chicago an apology for their brutal and sadistic actions during the days Fred Hampton walked the streets of this city. Otherwise, they are doing nothing more than trying to sully the reputation of a freedom fighter.

Jury Convicts Man in 1970 Cop Killing

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A jury on Wednesday convicted a man in the shooting death of a police officer nearly 36 years ago, and the judge sentenced him to life in prison.
After 10 hours of deliberations, the jury found Ronald Reed, 55, of Chicago, guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Prosecutors alleged that Reed and co-defendant Larry Clark, who are black, wanted to impress the national leadership of the Black Panther movement by killing a white police officer. The men were involved with a local group of young militants and wanted to establish a chapter of the Black Panthers here, authorities said.
Prosecutor Susan Hudson told jurors Reed set up the "cold-blooded assassination" of Officer James T. Sackett, who was shot while responding to a fake call about a pregnant woman in labor on May 22, 1970.
Judge Gregg Johnson sentenced Reed to life in prison. Because the sentencing laws that were in place in 1970 apply, he could be eligible for parole in 17 1/2 years.
Reed called the verdict an "unjust conviction," but added, "if it brings consolation and closure to the Sackett family and officer Sackett's legacy, I accept the consequences gladly and without malice to anyone."
Clark, 54, is scheduled to face trial on the same charges in April.
Sackett was a 27-year-old married father of four who had been on the force for 18 months.
Police Chief John Harrington sat near Sackett's family as the verdict was announced. City Council member Dan Bostrom, a former police officer who was working the night Sackett was killed, broke down in tears, and Mayor Chris Coleman put his arm around him.
"We're happy this chapter is closed," Coleman said.

Alderman Rugai has to go. I believe that she missed that meeting on purpose knowing what was on the table for two reasons.
