- An arrest made in a string of robberies of pizza delivery men. Didn't Lt. Farrell kill some fool who was doing this years ago? Why didn't they just put him on the case?
- Mega Millions is up to $256 million. Just so everyone knows, if we win - we are SO out of here. We'll turn over the blog to one of our compatriots and vacate the premises. You won't see us for the dust we leave behind.

The best poop I ever had the pleasure of expelling was in the Det. Ed Gorman Memorial lavatories in the 005th Dist./Area 2 building. Many of these "filled to the max" speedo wearing male swimmers are hot!

Hate to say it guys, but this is likely to lead to an increase in the minimum age where pension funds are available to retirees.
Pension plans are dying in private industry (down to 29K from a high of something like 150K). Retirement ages under 63? They will be gone.
And all above are right about the gold-braid bs, but its not that high of a percentage. They are just scamming the cream off the top.
This sucks, as it is and was one of the best reasons to go into civil service...
But with the increase in life expectancy, the money that has to go somewhere has to come from somewhere. Its like a giant pyramid scheme, and the base of the pyramid just hasn't grown quickly enough.

All of your gripes are legitimate, but solving them will still not solve the long term problem. You can't have an average worker working for 24 years while contributing X/year and then drawing out of the system for 30 while drawing out 2X/year or 3X/year. Not unless the the numer of new workers doubles every 15 or 20 years.
Which ain't happening in Chicago. The population of Chicago and Cook County are declining. Taxes are the highest for any metro area in the country. Now the pensions are underfunded.
The only way to avoid becoming Detroit is for a mayor to tell the federal government that Chicago can't afford poor people anymore, so please take them away.

Imagine cartridges that deteriorate after such a short time. And five years is nothing for the shelf life of a cartridge. How would they be marked?
