"No Duh" Headline of the Day

No Bond for Six Inmates Charged in Escape.

Gee whiz, why not? They seem like honest boys. We're sure they wouldn't miss a court date. Well, not on purpose anyway. Maybe if they overslept or something, right?

Channel 5 and Channel 7 join in the "Masters of the Obvious" stupidity. Must have been a slow news night. Maybe they could have expounded on the WGN hit job on the 016th District Thursday night?

And ANOTHER security lapse at the jail. What are they doing over there? Besides nothing we mean.

Police officers protest at speech of ex-con
Dayton Daily News

DAYTON | It was a quiet protest, but an angry one.

Lt. Randy Beane said officers are livid that a man involved in the 1974 killing of a police officer and a civil rights leader would be asked to speak at the Southwest Priority Board's annual black history program.
Twenty-eight off-duty police officers picketed in front of the Dayton Cultural and RTA Transit Center on Tuesday night as about 100 people entered to hear Derek Farmer speak. The police carried signs saying, "Why glorify a cop killer."

Farmer was convicted on two counts of aggravated murder and served 18 years in prison. In 1999, he became the first convicted murderer in Ohio history to be sworn in as a lawyer.

"To have this man speak in our city as a motivational speaker is a blatant slap in the face of all men and women who wear the uniform," Beane said. "He shouldn't even be out of prison."

Though Farmer, who practices law in Columbus, has delivered motivational speeches around the country, he said this marked the first time he spoke in Dayton.

Farmer was invited to share a message and heal old wounds, said Georgia Wortham, chair of the priority board.

"He was a young man when this happened. We have jails full of kids. He has gotten the message and turned his life around," Wortham said. "We need to try and let our young folks turn around."

Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin said she was disappointed that a group of predominantly white police officers protested at a black history event.

"It lets me know that we have a lot of work ahead to move toward understanding and forgiveness," McLin said. "I charge us all to embrace our diversity."

Farmer had no complaints about the picketers outside.

"People have the right to protest. I am the lawyer who would protect their First Amendment rights," he said.

Shoot to hurt, pol urges cops
BY JOE MAHONEY
DAILY NEWS ALBANY BUREAU CHIEF
Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

ALBANY - Sen. David Paterson is pushing a bill that would require cops to shoot to wound, rather than using deadly force - drawing outrage from officers.
The bill also would create a new provision for second-degree manslaughter that would be reserved specifically for an officer who "uses more than the minimal amount necessary" to stop a crime suspect.

Paterson, who is on Eliot Spitzer's ticket as lieutenant governor, has reintroduced the bill twice since first sponsoring it in 2001, refusing to let it die.

In a memo urging its passage, Paterson wrote: "There is no justification for terminating another's life when a less extreme measure may accomplish the same objective."

Current law gives cops a wide berth to use deadly force when a suspect presents a danger to another person's life.

Paterson (D-Harlem) wrote that a police officer, under his legislation, "would have to try toshoot a suspect in the arm or the leg."

"This bill shows absolutely no understanding of just how difficult it is for a police officer when they get into situations requiring the use of deadly force," John Grebert, director of the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, told the Daily News.

His sentiment was echoed by Dan DeFedericis, president of the New York State Troopers PBA, who said: "We are definitely opposed to this bill ... and we strongly believe it could endanger the lives of police officers and innocent civilians."

While Spitzer already has the endorsement of the New York City Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, that group's Albany lobbyist, John Poklemba, said, "This bill is very ill conceived. I can't imagine any police agencies not being opposed to it."

Paterson told The News last night that his bill would safeguard the public. He explained that he wrote the bill in response to the acquittal of four NYPD officers charged in the 1999 shooting death of the unarmed Amadou Diallo in the Bronx.

"Many people were surprised the officers weren't guilty of something, criminally negligent homicide or something that involved some negligence," he said. "I thought I was writing the bill that really mirrored what the department rules are."

A Spitzer spokesman declined to comment.

A cursory check of comparable 2001 homicide rates in districts, precincts and divisions in Philadelphia, Detroit, Houston and Los Angeles appear to corroborate Fillmore's dubious distinction of being "THE BADDEST STATION IN THE NATION!"

Why do guys that have always worked beats in 016 draw the same paycheck as active 011 street coppers? It would be understandable if the 016 guy paid his dues in 011.

Same with guys on steady days versus night shift guys working prime time crime

WE work Fillmore so YOU don't have to!

It just isn't fair and even an idiot knows that.

There should be a hazard pay differential for street coppers based on shift and district.

You're in D-E-N-I-A-L.

Check the FACTS. FILLMORE is the most violent station in the nation. They may now be disposing of homicide victims in lots now vacant from the wrecker's ball.

The "clowns" in 011 are much more likely to handle violent crime and bloodshed than anywhere else.

Praytell, where is the "yuppie" part of 011, smartass?

What's your nomination for "the bloodiest station in the nation?"
Document your pick(s)!

Many of my brothers have got more time pissin' in the alleys of Fillmore than you got on da job, asshole.

I live in the 011th district and cops there don't do shit. I've called the police at least 100 times in the past year about drug dealers on my corner. I've even taken it upon myself to take pictures of the drug dealers, putting myself in harms way. And what do officers tell me? "Let us do the police work, sir."

Well, I'm waiting for you to.

In the mean time I have to protect my family and my property.

I bet if I took the law into my own hands you would "do some police work".

I live near Harrison/Western in the so-called "yuppie" part. There's nothing "yuppie" about drug dealers and gang members walking up and down your block!!!

Dear Brave pioneer yuppie scum,

Shame on you for moving into the ghetto with your family. The lure of making a quick buck more important than the safety of your loved ones?

If you don't like the animals than move out of the zoo dipshit. Tremendous sense of entitlement there, your problems are way more important than the rapes and homicides in the rest of the district.

You deserve whatever the fuck the natives can dish out. Maybe you'll second guess your decision when your wife's guts are falling out her asshole after being pile driven by the locals.

In the meantime, shut the fuck up about your police service or move back to Naperville asshole.

Thats why they send all the other districts to work there. When they retire it will be somewhat cleaned up and worth a ton of money. Come on federal government where are you?

Sounds to me like you HAVE to work in 011. You don't have the time to bid anywhere better, so you whine.

If you do have some time on and choose to stay in 011 then why do you think you deserve more $$$?
Bid out and count your perceived pay increase you get for not working in 011.

Also, if you want to judge a district, judge it by the number
of reports for battery to P.O.'s not battery, robbery, murder to Jon Q Public. With the latter we just clean up the mess.

Whine less, stay safe and back
each other up.

""You guys let bums drink there and dis you? Man, go grow some balls 011 bafoons!"(SIC) - 9:50 AM.

Perhaps you could come to 011 and teach us how it's done, you disrespectful and cowardly excuse for a real police officer.

We don't have the time to break up a harmless bottle gang when we're en route to a 10-1 after we just got a slowdown on "a man with a shotgun" run.

Personally, I like to make quality felony arrests and the rush of adrenaline from living on the edge. Am I wrong to thrive on action? I think not.

Admit it! You are jealous of DA REAL PO-LICE!

There's a whole lot of truth in the old axiom that you'll learn more about being a copper working a year or three in a shithole like 011 than some guys who've spent their entire careers working in slow districts that may (or may not) handle a ton of service calls.

The key is that if you leave a fast district for greener pastures, you act on what you have learned and NEVER let your guard down. If your heart doesn't skip a few beats when you get that in-progress call, you're either a fool or a liar.

A reasonable dose of fear keeps you alive. If that goes, you're a sitting duck.

Stay safe, guys!

I never worked in Fillmore (or Harrison as the yuppies call it), but I always wanted to. I really, really want to be a REAL POLICE like you guys, can I ride with you guys, turn on the blue lights, maybe "toot" the siren a little? I know where ther's a white kid that just bought a rock, let's go get him, guys! I wish I could hold the flashlight for you, or even just hang out by the Desk, like I work there. I like hot links, also, but I don't get them much, because I'm afraid to go in the colored neighborhoods that sell them. Maybe we can cut everyone's pay in half and double the pay of all those "Westside Police"(only 011 counts.)Maybe some day we can all work in 011!

I am able to check and there is nobody who lives in 011 (CPD, CFD etc) who has called the police 100 times.
So 3 facts a blatently obvious here #1) You are a not a CPD officer, 2) You are a Liar 3) You an Idiot for living there.

Ive been there/done that worked in Filth'mo when it was busy. Turn of the radio (pre-sabre) and got 5 jobs 3 in-progress.

So save you bull shit about "I work there so you dont have to"

011 will not be yuppified for at least the next 10 plus years.

For those of you who think that being a land-lord on the westside is foolish.... Putting 1 thru college, 2 new vehicles in the garage, and 2 trips to vegas a year, a zero debt except 1.75 million in mortgage debt. (Thanks to watching late nite infomercials while I was IOD).
