A Raise?

For what is essentially a part time job that already pays over $98,000 a year. While the City bleeds red ink, sells anything not nailed down, fires 1,000 teachers, is short around 1,000 coppers, gives away countless millions in fixed contracts and phony land deals, can't collect parking ticket revenue from it's own Department of Revenue bosses, etc. etc. etc.

This list goes on. We think it's time to give serious thought to eliminating 10 aldermanic positions - minimum. What do we need for that? State Law or just an Ordinance?

The alderclowns would file a federal lawsuit saying eliminating spots would be racism. The new wards would take forever to draw up. No matter what you do the city would pay for lawyer after lawyer. I'd still love to see it happen

Ward 13- Get rid of him and others. He doesn't do anything for our neighborhood. I don't see what he si doing for us here.No calls, emails, returned.

They should make it a full-time job but cut it down the number of Aldermen significantly.

My question is this: On Ald. Haithcock's website, it also lists her various staff, including another Haithcock. Does the city pay their salaries? If so, how much?

In fact, does the city release an annual accounting report of sorts to see a breakdown of where all monies are alloted? Where could anyone get a copy?

to: 11:54....well, then, jump in the beat car with the rest of us, work nights, holidays, weekends, fight to get a day off, expect to miss family functions, weddings, graduations, school functions, fight with the people who you try and arrest, work in the heat and the cold.....its peachy; or better yet, sit on your ass in the council chambers or in your office and watch as folks line up to kiss your ass (when you're not kissing the butt of the guy on the fifth floor)

LOL... if you think you would even have one white alderman if you cut them, think again. The white areas are shrinking like mad. Scatter Section 8 throughout city and all the new development areas of the city includes low cost housing in 500,000 dollar home/condo areas.

Its the biggest joke out there. Give the shithead a home in a 1/2 million dollar neighborhood and expect to behave like human beings. Think not.

The city council should mirror the police districts. This would accomplish a few things: 1. It would reduce the bloated council and the subsequent spending by councilcreatures and their staffs. 2. It would reign in some of the bullshit politics the police brass have to deal with when their districts encompass multiple wards. Politics is a reality in our world, but at least command staff would only have to listen to one asshat instead of many. 3. It would reduce some of the political bullshit as only twenty five asshats would have to be placated instead of fifty.

No chance it will ever happen though, at least not until the Cubs win the World Series, because hell would surely have frozen over.

The 8th district is controlled by the Malloy Irish Gang. All Malloy boys. Poor guy will probably never collect a pension check. Overweight and out of shape and on the job way longer than he needed to be. But can't give up the Irish Pinky Ring and all the pinky rink kisses that goes with it. Some men just need a gold badge to be a man. As a non-irish guy here, I'll be bidding out of 8 soon. Because they won't let you in the click unless your green clover wearer.

I saw Malloy get out of his squad. The guy was out of breath just getting out of the car. He needs to drop some pounds and start a walking regiment. No matter if you like a person on this job or not, you don't want anyone not to get what they deserve from their pension. Daley stole enough from all of us.

I can a dozen exempt right off the back that are winded when they walk into headquarters. Some because of their health and weight. Others because they are Alcoholics and are sweating the previous night's sauce out of them. My bet, probably at least 4 maybe 5 will pass away before the year is up. If you ever saw the food that is delivered at headquarters before, during and after meetings and at lunch, it's a surprise 1/2 these exempt haven't have heart attacks yet. You would think with the big bucks they make they would try to eat healthy and maybe hit the free gym. But nope, fat fast food, lots of booze and bad habits. It's a joke to see so many of these guys actually get dropped off at the door of headquarters because the walk from their parking spot would probably either kill them or render them in a breathing frenzy.

The problem with alderman is that we are too nice to them. We treat them with as if they are dukes and duchesses and have any real power. The city is supposed to be a weak mayor strong city counsel government and we know that that is not true.

In fact they have surrendered all real power to da mayor, and it is King Richard who controls all. He annoints, who will be alderman, controls the jobs, controls the city works projects and controls campaign contributions.

So why treat them with respect, we should treat them like the spineless (insert your own expletive) they are. Except when they are doing our bidding. They should be made to FEAR the voting power of city employees.

Imagine that the crowd that will almost shut down the city on Monday, May 1st were city employees. Richie would be kissing our asses. If you encounter an alderman, tell him/her what we want and any excuse they have doesn’t cut it.

Make the politicians FEAR US.

If you looked around the country, you'd see that only New York has more alderman (or whatever they choose to call them in that particular town) than Chicago. New York has 51. Most cities do the job with between 9 and 15 elected officials, including L.A. There is no reason to have that many people getting well paid to sit and wait to rubber stamp whatever Lil' Dick wants. They argue over whether we can get foie gras in restaurants for crissake. But you would need the State Assembly to vote on it, and these whores would do anything to hold onto their little fiefdoms. Cutting the size of Chicago's bloated system is the key to eliminating a lot of this political nonsense.

New York is also three times bigger than Chicago. SO per capita they actually have less aldercreatures.

Aldercreatures get 80% after 20 years! Think about it. What do we get? State Troopers get 80% after 26 years and 8 months. How does that make you feel? Bitch or changes things, your call!!! You don't have to take it in the ass if you don't want to, but it will take A LOT of effort on ALL of us. Willing to do some heavy lifting and working together for a common goal?

Too many alderperps. Yet do you really expect them to minimize their lot? They are all lords of their feudal estates or "wards". No lord wants to relinquish their power to the serfs (mere citizens). History repeats itself.

The city council would not be able to vote on their reduction. It would have to be approved by State Legislature. It would be a monumental task to gather the support, but well worth it. I would also love to have an intelligent discourse on this blog without the moronic ramblings of the retard above me.

We already see how the AlderPerps are kicking, screaming and sweatin over Shakeman possibly applying in their ward kingdoms. I say kick um when their down! The city is overbloated and the large number of appointees by the Da King demonstrate this large number is a burden to Tax Payers and is no longer COST EFFECTIVE.

Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn was a major advocate to have the the State House of Reps. reduced by a third. Maybe Quinn should be contacted to advocate reduction of Alderman. Lets see how Blago and Quinn respond to this idea.

As the city knows Budget Reductions in their own office, would refelect well with the tax payer and citizens. What better show of representation? Maybe the budget oversite/watchdog org. would embrace the idea as well.

Whenever I hear the words alderman and/or mayor and pay raise I remember a Sun-Times article some years ago when someone wrote in and asked Richie something.

“How can the mayor get a 35% pay increase and the aldermen get a 30% increase while you are offering the firemen and policemen only a 2 ½% increase?”

Richie’s response was, “ I am the mayor of a great city and the aldermen are the legislators of a great city. I am proud of the salary I make. If this man is not happy with what we are offering, he can quit. We had 40,000 sign up for the last firefighter’s exam and he can easily be replaced.”

That’s the mentality of who we are dealing with. Aldermen may get an 80% pension after only 20 years, but what I want to know is what is their medical benefits.

Much can be saved if the city finally does what Booz-Allen recomended (and the city paid for) years ago: eliminate many unneeded and redundant exempt positions.
Start with 12 District Commander spots. The department would not miss a beat by getting rid of 12 commander-for-a=couple-of-years spots and save millions in salary, benefits etc. to say nothing of how our pension fund would improve by not giving out exempt gold braid pensions to political suckholes who do little or nothing except to be to screw up otherwise well running districts.
I have seen many districts which run perfectly get broken by blockhead commanders who break it and then spend their commander careers trying to put it back together again. Hell, we could eliminate then all and give the duties to the day WC with maybe out of grade pay for signing a few extra pieces of paper and missing the daytime TV shows.
