Foie Gras "Silliness"
- On the day that Chicago's ban on foie gras went into effect, some restaurants sold it in a protest, a trade association sued, and Mayor Daley called it "the silliest law" ever adopted in the city.
- Mayor Daley urged the City Council Tuesday to come to its senses and repeal a foie gras ban that has made Chicago an international laughingstock in restaurant circles.

WAY TO GO ALDERMAN ED BURKE, THANKS FOR MAKING CHICAGO ONCE AGAIN THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE USA. TIME FOR YOU TO RETIRE, ASSHAT ! GREAT TO BE PAYING THE SALARIES OF YOU AND YOUR CONSTITUANTS ALL THESE DECADES. LOOK WHAT WE GOT FOR ALL THE TAXPAYERS HARD EARNED MONEY. THE INMATES ARE TRULY RUNNING THE ASYLUM !!!
VOTE REPUBLICAN, FOIE GRAS FOR ALL !!!!!!!
I just called my Chinaman and he assured me that I, me, the guy with clout, will be the fois gras enforcemnt officer. I will get to work CD. I will get a budget to dine out in fine restaurants and try to order, or bribe them to give me that goose or duck liver. When they deliver, BAM! ANOV city baby. You think I will be as popular with the news as those 017 gals?
I may have to have some "dinner" in Chicago. You can find me at a fine dining establishment that serves fava beans and a nice chianti and possibly dine on some, oh, excuse me, WITH some politicians. Maybe Eddie Burke?
If anyone has realitives who ever worked at the the old stockyards and packing houses on the south side has heard stories about how meat is processed. It ain't pretty. So what's next? Outlaw porterhouse steaks? pork chops? chicken? farm raised fish? ENOUGH ALREADY!! Why dosen't the council take on some meaningful legislation for a change and leave the bistros and hard working gourmet chefs alone. We're paying them almost 100 G's for this?
Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe the City Council did the right thing? Can you open your mind for one second to allow for the possibility that maybe it is not morally correct to repeatedly stick a metal pipe down an animal's throat to force feed it? God may have put animals on earth to serve mankind, but he certainly did not give us these animals for us to abuse.
Does death fall in the category of abuse, dumbass? These animals have no gag reflex nor do they seem to mind as they line up for the feeding. In addition, they have a cartilage-lined esophagus. Translation: It doesn't hurt them. At least not as much as ending their life does. HOW IDIOTIC!!!
Call me stupid but I have never even heard of "Foie Gras".
Burke was not the one who instituted the Foie Gras ordinance. He is responsible for the trans fats ordinance. The Foie Gras ordinance was instituted by 49th Ward Aldercreature Joe Moore. The same idiot that gave us the "big box" ordinance.

Wow..... you really missed the boat on this one. Do you honestly believe in your tree-hugging little heart that this budget-draining, worthless ordinance will save a few worthless livestock???
No. It won't. Because I can just go to Naperville or Northbrook to get my Foie Gras. And probably have a much better dining experience.
See, this is the problem with this dumbass ordinance: The city will never see enough revenue from "foie gras enforcement", to offset the amount of money spent by City Council to research and propose this ordinance in the first place (and trust me they spent a ton). And, I, the taxpayer ,will take my business to the suburbs when I wish to dine on some delicious duck livers. More revenue that the city will not see.
You see now, fuckwad???
Makes you want to run out and forcefeed an alderscum into making an educated decision, doesn't it?

THANK YOU!
It doesn't matter if the new law is enforceable, raises money, costs money,or is enforced. What is important is that the City has made a statement that we do not condone animal abuse or torture. And thats what stuffing a tube down a birds throat and force feeding it is- animal abuse and/or torture. You can call it whatever you want, change the name so it's more palatable to you but it remains what it is-a product that required that an animal be tortured. And civilized people DO NOT condone animal abuse or torture. Savages tolerate it, not a well educated, prosperous, thinking society.
Why can't we stick a metal tube down the neck and force feed some of these politicians that are corrupt or make things hell for us?
Bet they would stop the BS real quick.
So should they ban fishing next?
How can we take baby chicks away from these mother hens. The anxiety, mental, and emotional anguish this practice causes is pure brutality. You are a savage if you condone the preparing and eating of eggs!
Did you know that both spotted owl and bald eagle tast alot like chicken?
I love veal. I know what it takes to get it. Nothing like milk fed, kept in a small cage, calf to get such a tender cut of meat that you can, if properly prepared, fork cut into to bite sized portions. Yummy! Blame it on Italy, when I went there years ago, that is all they fed us. I am drooling all over myself reflecting upon those memories.....

They have been trying to for years. This is just more nonsense from Alderman Joe Moore and the Rogers Park pseudo intellectual vegan set who hate everything. They even want to ban sex, as it is cruel to women, stuffing a tube...
I am a fervent animal rights activist. I beleive that animals and their various parts have the absolute right and responsibility to grace my plate, cooked to perfection and well seasoned.

Again....you are completely missing the bigger issue here.
Your convictions are admirable but have nothing to do with city politics. Since when is it the job of our aldermen to take a stand on animal rights? That's not what we pay them for. If they want to take up a cause on their own time, paid for with thier own dollars, then so be it. Good for them. I, however, do not want my elected officials using our tax dollars to further their own agendas. It's bullshit.
By the way, who exactly are you calling a savage?
I think anyone who wastes as many brain cells as you do should be considered a savage and a waste of skin!
WOW THATS FUNNY..I THOUGHT "FOIE GRAS" WAS WHAT I HEAR EVERY TIME I ARREST SOMEBODY----
"I SWEAR FOIE GRAS I DIDN'T DO IT OFFICE"
