Wah wah wah!
We've been getting quite a few comments in the hopper lately about how we've killed the spontaneity of the board by instituting full moderation. We've also gotten an offer from a certain named "three lettered individual" proposing a peace treaty.
Sorry about the loss of the give and take, but that is almost entirely the fault of two or three people, those being the "reposter", the DELETE fool and the three-letter-named ass. Even if you delivered to us the typing fingers of all three individuals, we probably still wouldn't open up the unmoderated comments. It's become that much more enjoyable not having to wade through their insane bullshit that we can't see going back. If that's unpalatable to some people, they are always welcome to start their own bathroom wall and see what we've been going through.
We also have received a few comments from certain individuals intent on waging their own private war against the FOP leadership. No one responded to their attacks and comments when we had an open message board and they started their own blogs that got zero traffic even when we let them advertise here. Tell you guys what - you send us something that makes sense and won't subject us to expulsion hearings like you just went through, we'll let it go in the comment sections. But fictional letters from a fictional board just aren't cutting it. We aren't on the Board, no matter how much you wish it to be so and we aren't running for anything. As to the by-law proposals, read the thread below this one.
That's all. We won't be addressing the whiners anymore. You don't like it, deprive us of what we need to survive - visitors and eyeballs on the site. Otherwise, hunt down the three people we named at the top of this post and bring us their heads as tribute.

I agree with most of what you said, except for the part about bashing the so called union. FOP has sold us out. They deserve every and any negative thing we, the membership could say about them.
Many of us beleive that it is time to get rid of FOP and find a real labor organization to represent us. FOP is a fraternal group, no matter what they say.
Look at the past few weeks. Where have they been. The Cabrini shooting, the crap in 015, the convicted felon Hampton raging...
Where is FOP? On summer vacation?
The three individuals should start their own blog. If they can assemble a superior product, then they will attract readers/blogers away from SCC.
Keep it up SCC, maybe you can get a few trusted friends to moderate this blog to make it faster.
How about some surveys, like who to vote for mayor, or Superintendent of Police.
You cannot be subject to expulsion hearings as long asyou, yourself do not post anything that can be considered anti fraternal.
The comments section does not subject you to anything. FOP has done more to hurt the working police officer than any Mayor or boss on this job. I should know. I came on this job before we haqd the "management contract."
The only real FOP union that I know of is in Philly. They take care of the police. No other police department with FOP comes anywhere near. Chicago Lodge #7 deserves every single bad thing said about them.
BTW, if you are sooooo anonymous as you claim to be, what the hell do you care. They can never, ever prove anything legally.

Your are right on... FOP is what it is and let the members attend meetings and get er done! But... keep it off this blog. Too many other topics to cover. And about the other jags you mentioned, NEVER under any circumstances let them back or a lot of people will be gone. Thanks for the great job you are doing.
This site will become like Crimefiles, with no comments. People will go to the blog to see what you have to say but not respond because you have to wait 24 hours to see any response.
I'm not waving a "I love FOP" flag or anything but if you look at some of the pay and benefits of other large municipalities including Philadelphia, we are better compensated than most departments with the exception of the west coast. Anti-labor is the battlecry of the 21st century. It's tough all over. Virtually every job that has collective bargaining has caught hell. Unfortunately, I personally doubt that there is any other union out here that can get us more than FOP. Management has us by the balls. (figuratively) Can FOP do better? Probably. But a union is only as strong as the will of it's memebers. I here a lot of complaining but no answers on how to change things.
Moderation versus real time.
A blog is an information and opinion vehicle that allows people to comment- provide more information or opinions. It is not a discussion board for real time chats. If you want real time go to or form a chat room.
SCC has the right idea. It is long overdue. The comments are better and it appears that the teenagers on this job have left for greener bathroom walls.

Most responsible blogs have moderated comments. Their are two reasons for this. One is to keep blog spam off and the other is to keep comments that the bloggers or their audience may find offensive.

I am still pissed at Dan ,the felon ,Rostenkowski AKA "stamps"
for stealing my earned social security benefits.
I worked hard before I was the police and I paid my share into the SS deductions like everyone else at the time.
Now, I am the police and I see that The "Rosty" feels that I make too much money and my pension guarantees it. So, he took over half of MY MONEY earned prior to any pension. And he keeps his.
This is the single largest travesty of arrogance directed at the lower middle class I've ever witnessed.
Where is my earned payback? What legislation is the FOP currently involved in regarding this theft?
To whom can I write? Aren't there others in the same boat who would be willing to pursue a challenge?
We lost civil service, then we lost our social security, they are currently planning to eliminate our pensions and health benefits...

You CANNOT or WILL NOT have a "real labor organization" when it is related to emergency response personnel. State and Federal laws forbid this. The laws have been challenged in the past and they went nowhere!
I have to agree with 8:33 on several of his points and have to add that the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. CCSP officers have changed their union several times over the last few years and got nothing but headaches and missing funds.
If you want a change of unions be a frickin' plumber.

How many new patronage jobs you think were created for the bullshit "Wellness Program?" That was money that could have paid for actual service. This program is a whole network set up to acknowledge what you already know: That you have, say, cancer and what your treatment options are. Then someone else re-informs you and lets you know of specialists/treatments that you could have had except they pissed all the money away on the "Wellness Program." It is blatant public relations horseshit in lieu of real medical help. If there were any real journalists left in this city they would sniff out the connection between the contractors who set this up/coordinate it and various city administration higher ups. Sure as shit someone's getting rich off this. I have a dependent that suffers from a serious, chronic condition and can tell you from experience that this "service" is a joke. Big money being taken away from our coverage to be given information of the calibre normally found on a fucking pamphlet rack at their doctor's office! If I ever catch an abortion clinic bomber I may have a few questions for him before I cap his ass.
