The traffic enforcement unit is going to be disbanded. There is a plan afoot starting next month to train district personnel in radar and laser. Once that is done, traffic is over. The reasons:
1.) IAD and Federal confidential investigations into bribery.
2.) Feds investigating possible civil rights violations into false arrests of so called DUIs. Feds have been looking into this for about a year. They are preparing a case and supoenas are to be issued soon. Devine's office is also cooperating.
3.) A PO in the unit has been wearing a wire and has been assisting in the investigation. He comes from a prominent Gold Coast family and volunteered to cooperate. It is his public duty to do so.
4.) Several seniors, mostly Jewish, have complained to their aldermen, especially to Natarus, about being hit up for money on LSD.
5.) People have been getting stopped on the skyway on their way home from the casino and getting hit up for cash.
6.) Sexual harassment by certain officers when females are arrested for DUI. Accusations include grabbing breasts, taking them behind buildings to pee and watching and photographing them, trying to get BJs, and calling them at home to arrange dates. Many of them are Hispanic and married.
7.) A certain PO who is violating the Mayors executive order about immigration has been giving names of illegal immigrants to INS. His blog is also being monitored (Pointlesspoints).
8.) There have been accusations that a certain Black PO has been making racist and anti semetic comments to drivers and that he has advocated the actions of the Ku Klux Klan. He claims not to be Black, but Dominican.
All this has been brewing for about two years and is finally come to frution.

are you sure its traffic your talking about and not the guys from SOS?
Don't know about the traffic unit problems, but agree that there is no reason that district personnel should NOT be trained in radar or the LASER. Laser is much better and there is no doubt which car is violating. When was the last time a radar car was in the district for a "mission" or an interior car was up.... They don't have the bodies needed.... Commanders should be happy with it and the increased activity would justify the start up cost for more RADAR/LASER units

Hey guys, came anybody help me with this problem or to understand it better? Whats up with these range guys at A/5 on afternoons? I mean, I go in there to pop off a few boxes of ammo just to keep my skill level up to where it should be and these guys treat me like shit or as if I was a recruit! Now I would understand their attitude if I were a novice but I'm not. I was a sniper in the Corp and have attended many civilian shooting courses on my own dime and time and am well versed in weapons and the amount of practice required to reach an acceptable level of marksmanhip. But I go in there and I'm treated as if I never picked up a weapon in my life. Talk about condescending ......., WTF? Has anybody else experienced the same problems as I have?

When coppers become inmates are they put in protective custody? I can't imagine the prisons leaving them in general population. They're survival rate would have to be rather low.

Can someone tell me why CPD has never been on COPS the tv show?
HBT last might in 012...just wanted to know who the very young stupid sergeant is from A/4 "Gang Team" who waltzed right into the middle of the HBT with his taser drawn as the two 1206C po's were talking to the offender who was lying under a van with a gun in his mouth!!! The offender saw his feet from under the van and then pointed the gun at one of the female po's that had been talking to this guy for over 20 mins and freaked out saying tell him to get away or I'll shoot you! This nitwit showed up 30 mins into the incident and LITERALLY walked right up to the van without talking to anyone on the scene ans aimed a taser at the offender "UNDER THE VAN WITH A GUN IN HIS MOUTH!!! " I ask you...what would have happened if he was "successfully" tased?? He would have done himself...plain and simple because the taser makes you tense up...or....what if he would have shot the female copper because of this moron??I would like his explination....and who the fuck is he to just walk into a scene like that anyway??? and YES I was on the scene and he walked right past me and I saw the entire incident....fact.He was a young Sgt with black hair and wore his taser on the outside of his vest in a pocket....don't know his name but a real GOOF if I ever saw one!!! He's lucky this nitwit didn't kill the officer because of his stupid actions.
Do you all have a Mounted Unit out there in Chicago? I know Philly PD misses theirs...

Do us all a favor and quit then. The coppers under investigation are for possible wrongdoing NOT going out and being the police legit like the vast majority of the rank and file do everyday, my only hope is that if your family ever needs to call the police for something serious a "collect a check copper" doesn't get the job and take his sweet time hoping an offender is gone and just do the paper, that is if you can't find a way to code it. Pathetic.

The problem is that most of the coppers can't shoot worth a shit, either don't remember or don't care about range safety and gun control, especially the old timers, so they probably get that way for that reason, pull them aside and let them know your background and they will leave you alone.
The best I ever witnessed was an old timer that, instead of raising his hand when his gun didn't fire like he was instructed to do, just pretended to shoot at every facing of the target then went up and tried to put pen holes in the target when done, got busted and it turned out that his revolver was so dirty he couldn't even get the cylinder open or see the bullets in the wheel because of all the shit in it. It was unreal.

The T.V. show Cops does not film in Chicago because it is a 30 minute show and it would take at least 45 minutes for the CPD to show up.

-They are in the beginning in Cook County if they let them know their background, but once they get to their final prison it is up to them normally. Some decline because it gives them more freedom:ie: working out, playing cards, etc. In protective custody they basically end up sitting in a cell for days with no interaction with others. Coppers don't have to tell anyone who they are/were, but if it was a high profile case more than likely some shithead will recognize them. And some correctional officers don't have any common sense...if they find out an inmate was the police, could easily ruin it by bringing it up in front of other inmates. Some prefer to be put with the general population and just not advertise their background because they have so much more freedom and things to do to make the time go by faster. It is a hard decision to make...hopefully none of you ever have to do that.

Everybody wants to be the hero. I'm picturing this guy underneath a car with the gun in his mouth and these two P/O's right next to him, trying to talk him out of it. Am I right? The intentions are good but the actions are horrible and the end result could be horrendous. Reminds me of the film I saw when I came on in which the guy is in his backyard with a shotgun threatening to kill himself. Some noble, well intentioned copper is about 10 feet away, leaning on the guys fence talking to him trying to get him to put the gun down. All of a sudden, in about a tenth of a second, the guy lowers the shotgun from his head and shoots the copper. It sounds like this is what could have happened in 012. I know I wasn't there but I say the two coppers were mistaken in getting that close. Taser the M/F and lets move on.

Here are the lieutenants that were transferred last on the last order.
All are White or White Hispanic which is suspect in itself and all have some seniority. The transfers the came out of Deputy Superintendents Charles Williams’ office to be visiting watch commanders in districts so the department does not have to pay overtime rates to lieutenants. Williams likes to push his weight around, especially with white cops.
With the exception of Ed DANK, none of them, nor their District Commanders had any clue that these transfers were coming.
William MULLANE, went from 019 to 002. He lives on the far northwest corner of the city and will have a very long commute. It is embarrassing to the brain trust Bureaucrats in the Bureau of Patrol Headquarters couldn’t have found someone closer. He was the Watch Commander when the Matthews mob stormed into 019. It would be even more suspicious if this transfer came after that fiasco. He is a good, stand-up boss who probably would have done exactly the same thing. But it is classic, what are you gonna do, ship me to the duce, guess what!!!
Art PARA went from 012 to 007 and lives on the Near Westside. He is heavily into the Latin American Police Association. A decent guy, he is formerly a Captain, but lost the rank due to education requirements. Probably has a good lawsuit for the department not honoring his previous seniority as a lieutenant.
Deidre HERATY, went from 013 to 006. She lives on the North Side and been involved in women’s issues on the department and has some seniority. She is knowledgeable, but some say she has rubbed some people the wrong way, but never believe everything you hear, especially about a woman on this job. Odd thing is, because of problems in 012 staffing, they may have to pay overtime to replace her in 012 which defeats the reason for the transfer in the first place.
Edward DANK was previously detail in from 011 to 013 as the new Tact Lieutenant. No problem with this transfer.
Sam COZZO went from 010 to 025, lives in 025 has a lot of seniority. Now this might have been good transfer, except it was an unwelcome surprise since he was literally counting the days until retirement. Decent guy, definitely old school and well liked. He watch threw him a nice party on the last night he worked, and it is said that this will be the last night he works PERIOD. Of all the other surprise transfers, he is the only one known to have very loud run ins with Charlie Williams about officer safety and terrorism issues. Since he will not be filling the spot in 025 and is leaving a spot open in 010, the department may have to pay overtime twice over.
Sounds like somebody in Patrol Headquarters should have done some checking since they missed all those less senior lieutenants, especially all those Administrative Assistants. Rumor has it that these transfers are to be short term until the department promotes new lieutenants, but would you trust Williams. It may take a year for new lieutenants and most may go south, except for the most clout worthy.

COPS has asked numerous times to film in Chicago. Each time the city has denied them.
Previous superintendents did not allow COPS as a ride-along. They wanted to be here but were refused. That comes from a P/O I know who met one of the producers in California about three years ago. Not sure if Cline is the same.
There will be no ballot for FOP bylaw vote. Voice vote will be at 19Sept. open meeting. A constitutional ammendment change that will not be done by mail ballot? Sound fishy? FOP regime will push thru it's change and vote against keeping Sgts. and above to serve on board of directors. Yeah, I want management protecting me from management. C'mon! Mangagement who operate under a completely different union and contract-The Police Benevolent Association! WTF?! We better mobilize and get enough guys at this meeting to vote FOR this ammendment change (keep supervisors out of FOP power positions) because sure as hell the current regime will have plenty there to vote their way! This is scary shit!
No "cops" with CPD because King Richard will not allow the people of this country to see the south and west sides....would kill tourism.....

Sounds like the ex-017th District ranger (haha)who made Sgt, was dropped into 011, then landed in the midnight area 4 gang team. A lil guy, with big hair, and an even bigger ego.

I was at the HBT incident in 012 and NEVER saw the sergeant in question draw his taser. I did see him talk briefly to one of the P.O.s talking to the guy and then leave.
I never worked for that guy but I hear he is a decent boss. As far as his hair goes it is very nice...HaHa!

The Chicago Police Sergeant's Association was looking to be "FOP Lodge 7A." When it came time to choose a union, the FOP offered them nothing as far as rights, board representation. The city was certainly in favor of this as this is in keeping with their divide and conquer strategy. So we remain divided and must envy the fire department's union for being united up to the rank of Battalion Chief.
Speaking of union benefits, a neighbor of mine retired last year, in his mid 50’s, with an 80% pension from the Laborer’s Union. He started in that union working for Streets and Sanitation, became a truck driver and ended as a executive in the Department of Revenue. He and others in that department were offered a four year buyout. What is the possibility of those types of benefits for the police? Probably nil, after all it cost us $23 million for Richie to make a phone call to get us the 75% pension.
Art Parra "lost the rank (of captain) due to education requirements"? He told the city to go fuck itself. He knew the education requirements and had plenty of time to get his degree to comply with them. Instead, he thought he was above the requirements and, therefore, was rightfully demoted. Heavily into LAPA? Yeah, he thought the city couldn't fuck with him because of his LAPA bullshit. Guess again.

She used to do lunch with us at Grand Central. After 3 hours of "Lunch", we would get he so drunk she did check-off at the bar (often a few hours too soon....)

Only because you call the "Youth Division" (there hasn't been a "Youth Division" for about 5 years) as soon as you get junior into custody. It usually takes YOU hours to figure out how to do the paperwork and actually get junior into the lockup to be printed.
SVU can see where junior is in the booking process. So when you call on the scene of the arrest and tell SVU that junior is printed, photographed, and momma is on the scene, they know you are lying.
If they showed up as soon as you called THEY would be standing around waiting for you to finish because junior wouldn't be printed and the paper wouldn't be done.
Why don't you just admit that these hours you claim to be waiting includes the two+ hours you stood around with your thumb in your bum trying to finish your paperwork and get the kid printed?

Has anyone had the pleasure of meeting Sgt Matthew Kennedy?? If so, what was/is your impression of him. He now works in the 016th district. At one time he was detailed/assigned to the academy.
Last time I was At A/5 Range. I was treated with respect. Remember they have to keep the range safe. If they tell you what to do and you refuse to follow their request you deserve to be tossed out.
The reason why the tv show COPS doesn't film here is simple.
The entire world would see the Chicago Police tolerating every act of bullshit on the streets.
The CPD is under the microscope so bad, I could of sworn I saw a cop pop the trunk, roll out the red carpet for someone who tried to kill him, and offer the same person grey poupon.

Working Sgt from 017? Are you kidding me? I don't know too much about the incident from 012, but if the "working" Sgt. Granias did fuck things up there and put the officers in danger, that is no surprise. He is, and continue to be a real idiot. Street coppers should be well aware of his actions for they could really harm someone someday.
