Piling on Stroger
In Sunday's Sun Times, Mark Brown writes that:
- Have you had enough, yet? That's Tony Peraica's campaign slogan. He says he has been using it for a year and a half now. I probably didn't pay much attention for the first year because I never would have expected to be in his corner. But you know what?
I've decided I have had enough. I'm voting for Peraica.
It's not an easy fit. He's a conservative Republican. I consider myself a liberal Democrat.
We're on opposite sides of the hot-button social issues.
But we seem to have one important belief in common: the idea that Cook County government needs to be turned upside down and given a good shaking.
Monday, the Tribune's Dennis Byrne writes:
- It's the county version of Chicago's political spoils system. Progressives now face a choice for Cook County Board president. They can ill serve the poor by fundamentally continuing the system under the direction of Democrat Todd Stroger, the Chicago alderman who is himself a progeny of the system. Or they can better serve the most needy by supporting suburban Republican Tony Peraica.
Might we be on the verge of a quasi-revolution? Any change at all would be good change in Cook County government.

As long as were going to make changes at the county level, lets do it at the state this Nov.
Blago's as much of the problem as Stroger ever will be!
Judy B. doesnt seem to be that bad of a choice; all we can do is give her a chance.
That said; is there any thing to Blago taking an "Angel" arrest? If so, what dept, time & date? He's coming off as an holier than thou type, going after everyones guns for one thing. I didnt really hate this political whore until I saw him on the news early this year at a South side church saying:"I cant imagen what its like to be African-American and to be stopped by the Police" Am I the only one that saw that? Yea u whore we stop citizens of all races because other citizens call the Police and report crimes!
If he did take an Angel pinch, the public needs to know. Maybe it was in Cicero and the goverment knows about it while they were watching "Betty". I hope they let it out!!!!!!
I'm for the white guy and his "Soprano" attitude....
This is why I don't believe the polls that have Stroger far in the lead. Too many people who ordinairly would vote Democratic, like Mark Brown of the Sun Times, are coming out for Periaca. Things like that are significant and bode well for Peraica in November.
I am voting for Perica as little Erkel talks and looks goofy just like dad! Hmm My Dad is a moron and I am a moron also -erkel Todd Stroger!
How about G. Gordon Liddy?
Todd went from his fathers right arm to "I'm just an alderman and I don't know what was happening in my fathers administration"!
Todd, your part of the problem, not the solution.
Thats why the aldermen voted to let the inspector general investigate anything except aldermen.
We have to start treating elected officials (or appointed ones) like repeat offenders (and judges), one term and vote them out.
We would be better off to get rid of city and county government and let a private administrator run it.
Same goes for the school system and transit authority. Too many politicians sucking up our money and making their friends rich.
Jesus H. Christian!
Im a democrat and have never been a fan of local Chicago politics but I will vote against stroger just because the republican canadate will clean house and then be shown the door in four years
Besides, Croatian Tony P.,pro 2nd Amendment guy, would be a good thorn in the ass of that gun-grabbing Serb blago.
Hey Disgusted, you forgot to mention the homicide rate cover up.
Blago has been in Daley's pocket forever. I saw them waiting for G.W's first visit on the old military side of O'Hare. They were gabbing and laughing for 45 mins until Air Force 1 arrived. When Daley got on the microphone, he introduced the Governor as Rod, not the Governor. That really stuck with me. He'd have never introduced George Ryan that way.
Someone who knows a little about politics said:
You guys will never understand it.
Todd is going to win. It is a precinct captains race, and the boys with the strongest turn out in their precincts are going to get rewarded.
You guys don't seem to understand. The Kennedy's did it with Bobby, and Ted.
* Daley was installed only after he was able to pass the bar and become States Attorney, and moved into the 5th floor.
* Madigan did it with Lisa who had no experience compared to John Schmidt.
* Lipinski did it with his son Dan, who was a school professor, and you guys on the southside voted him in and sent him to Congress with no political experience.
* Mell did it with Gov. Blago. Putting him in as a State's Attorney, then a State Rep.
* Tom Hynes did it with his son Dan. Who only had 3 years of accounting experience and was only 31 years old when he took the executive office of Comptroller.
*** Oh, by the way the Bush family did it too. With Jeb
At least Todd has 6 years as a State Rep. and 3 years as Alderman. To his credit he has more experience than Periaca who only has 3 years as a Commissioner.
Like lemmings rushing to the sea, the voters of Crook County will vote for Stroger and it will be business as usual. The only differance is maybe if the Feds step in and find some shit, they'll pin it on the old man.
Nothing changes....nothing is real.
Boy that's a shocker, a newsman that admits to being a liberal democrat. Whats next will Dean Andrews come out of the closet.
Yea, okay 9/26/06 10:22pm,10:46pm, I understand now thats its business as usual, I'll survive under Stroger Jr. Get the word to Blago to lay off the gun stuff, and I'll lay off his "angel" pinch and all his affairs since he entered "mells" life.......
A multiple choice question:
The last 7 or 8 indicted and jailed police officers came from:
A. The land of Oz.
B. Disneyland
C. Cook County Sheriff's Police
D. Chicago Police Department
This doesn't even include your king: Magenowski (I know, the spelling is wrong, sorry!)
You speak of Chinamen? I suppose there is no chinese involved the SOS unit? Oh yeah, right, sons of supervisors...
Didn't pass a POWER test? I passed. The other five in my class passed. Heck, we all had clear CQH's and gun cards. How about the guy that was hired about 10 years ago for CPD. He told the investigators that he was pinched for a felony. CPD hired him anyway. Got to the academy, the range guys told him to go buy a gun. He said: I can't. I don't have an FOID card. Your academy checked, and show nuff, his felony conviction precluded him from getting a card! A city employee make P.O.'s salary as an elevator operator? Never happened in CCSPD!
And, how many stripped coppers do you have in callback? We have 3 defrocked coppers now out of 550.
I will concede, we have a real queen of a Lieutenant involved in a hot-tub scandal out in Lockport. Even we (CCSPD) thinks it's pretty funny. Heck, I had her once, in a car after an FOP meeting!
Operationally, your backup is in the next beat over, a 2 man car. Our backup is miles away. We handle it. Just like John Wayne time.
Like I said, your still an asshole.

Look at your GOON that harrassed the folks recently, real professional.
Whom are you speaking about? Not familiar.
DEM VICTORY: The Dems have total control of the paracite vote who vote how they are told. What a shame that those who contribute the least to society always benefit the most.
OOOPS: Make that parasite, not being a democrat,I didn't know how to spell it.
They are going to change the name for Felony Review to FELONY REFUSE.
Truth in advertising!
