Oil Prices Fall
We're sure it's part of some vast Karl Rove engineered Right Wing conspiracy.
Or it could just be supply and demand at work.
In any case, gas prices are falling along with the price per barrel (regularly dipping below $60 a barrel lately) and the Saudi's are said to want it to stabilize around $50 a barrel, which us fine by us. It's still expensive enough to keep alternative energy sources under a steady stream of feasibility studies and experiments, yet low enough that the consumers will actually start to realize that the economy has been booming for three or fours years now and shows no signs of slowing down.
November isn't looking as bleak as it did earlier this year.

You're being sarcastic SCC but I think it's a partially valid assumption. The GOP,the President, and All of Capitol Hill are catching hell for rising gas prices. The GOP more so than the Dems since they're in charge of everything. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vice President called in a few favors to keep gas prices low until after the 08 elections. It's not like the oil companies can't afford it,they've been fleecing us for quite a while now raking in record profits."One hand washes the other."
I'll be happy if the prices keep dropping, especially for gas. I'm still paying $2.45/gal here in the Philly area, and I'm hoping to see it dip below $2 very soon.
Hugo Chavez said President Bush is the devil, an ex-alcoholic and not the brightest president we have had. And his point is? He just named thousands of politicians. So, what kind of Einstein does that make him?
To left is best,
Spoken like a true supply sider as espoused by very conservative economist Milton Friedman. You absolutely have no idea what side of the political argument to make to help the democratic party which is obviously the case for the rest of the party as well. Thankyou for reassuring us that the consevative economic principles are what is best for our country.

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy......
Dah! Comrade Lefty is right! The ultra rich manically conservative republicans all conspired to make OPEC keep oil prices at all time high levels while then cutting production just before summer. Carl Rove was even seen doing the dance of the seven veils at their last meeting just to make them do that! Bush is also keeping the military in Iraq because they are the biggest consumers of petrolium products in our country! The more bloody oil our troops consume the more the price for oil goes up! It's a Rovian conspiracy of herculean proportions!
Remember this glut is only temporary! I heard through my tinfoil antennae helmet that Iranian Prime Minister Amedinejhad is going to marry Condoleeza Rice to get him to stop his nuclear program! When thats done then Codoleezza will be in control of the Iranian oil fields. She'll keep the oil prices high just to keep these satanist republicans in office forever!
"Finally, The ultra-rich will not allow alternative energy for transportation to get off the ground."
Lefty explain why does the federal government give tax credits for buying hybrid vehicles? Give me a real answer other then a giant government conspiracy please.
Get hybrid cars....start running your cars on recycled vegetable oil ( so what if it smells like a french fry)...f*ck these oil companies and the middle eastern a$$holes...once technology catches up and we don't need their f*ckin gas they will all be middle class jamokes like us. Hope I live long enough to see this happen.
While blind alligance to any party is as evil as following Islam. I think Lefty has a valid point, the gas prices are down before the election becuase as we all know the american public has a very short memory, they will forget the huge profits bush's oil buddies made over the past few years. Yes OPEC controls the price and as we all have seen every time they get pissed at the US the price goes up. But i really have to point out that when they get 70$ a barrel so do the oilmen in Texas and at no additional costs. I am willing to put money on the price rising again ohh say around mid November. That of course is only becuase the winter heating oil demand that occurs every year and for some reason the can"t figure out how to plan for by oh say maybe taking some of the current glut and stockpiling? nahhh that might cut their profits. argue all you want but time will tell their his buddies and they are screwing us
Just a small quibble. The economy is hardly "booming". Real wages have stagnated or dropped for most Americans across the board, however, profits for corporate titans and major investors have skyrocketed.
So in a sense the economy has been booming--for the top 10% of earners in the country. Everyone else is running in place while their paycheck pays for less and less, or are in total free-fall.
At first glace, the numbers look great until you see how narrowly distributed the wealth is in the US.
Warren & Billy Software are no doubt pumped about the "boom". Lets all give them a round of applause.
I have heard that you can run any late model fuel injected car on
E-85 fuel. But, you have to gradually wean your car onto it over a several tank-fulls so your computer controls can adjust to it.
E-85 does not have the all of the acceleration of the 10% ethanol fuel we are now using.
If the fuel cost per mile is 20-40% less bring it on!
