Social Security Bill
Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D) of Austin, Texas filed a discharge petition (H. Res. 987) to force an immediate vote on the "Social Security Fairness Act," H.R. 147. The petition is a device that would break the House leadership's blockade of H.R. 147 and bring the bill out of subcommittee and onto the House floor for a vote. In order for the discharge petition to be successful and force a vote on this vital legislation, it needs at least 218 signatures.
The "Social Security Fairness Act" has been bottled up in a subcommittee since it was introduced in January 2005, despite garnering the support of 323 co-sponsors. After 20 years of efforts, we finally have the opportunity to repeal two unjust offsets that drastically cut public safety officers' Social Security benefits.

Rostenkowski is a FUCKING RAT! May he die a long and painful death, spitting blood and cursing the mother that bore him! Ignorant, arrogant, crooked, fat bastard!
These are the kindest things I can say about the son of a bitch!
ya here's a specific: They could never afford it.
It sounds like a gag to me. Which of those rep's are up for re-election?
Is it bad that we aren't part of the Social Sec experiment? Ok, we don't get bene's as of now, but we are also not paying into to it.
As a Gen Xer, i say f-it! I'll NEVER see the end results after all you boomers suck it dry, so why should i pay even more taxes for nothing?
To: Is it bad that we aren't part of the Social Sec experiment?
Did you ever have a job in private industry before being a government employee? Did you ever have side job paying into Social Security? While then you are part of the great experiment.
All we are asking for is the BENEFITS WE HAVE PAID FOR!
As for contacting congressmen, it might be better to talk to their staff. If they are going to get a government pension, then they have as much to gain as we do and they can get at the congressman.
Rostenkowski I hope I live long enough to piss on his grave-A convicted felon getting his pension & on TV during elections (Channel 32 with Skippy Jacsobson) telling honest people how to vote I hope your happy Leo M you worked for him while on the job look at your SSN check- it wont pay for your gas- You where shitting in your pants when they where investigating him
As a retired CPD and at 62 I'm drawing SS and Thanks to that
fucken rat Rosty I get a total of $200 @ month from a system that I paid into my whole life and I get penalized for being the polce. I can't imagine where 10:49 found those kind words to express his feelings towards that fucken rat. But no truer words were ever spoken. I for one hope that Rosty ROTS in HELL !!!!!
the point is that some of us had/ have jobs whare we were taxed for soc. sec. and now will recieve greatly reduced beni's while drug tip joe who never paid a dime and got shot up or senorita illigal will get paid.
HOW IS THAT RIGHT !
may you rot in hell rosty.
Actually, I think that people hired after 1986 have been paying into social security in addition to the pension. Rosty's bill basically said that if you are a government employee, including municipal employees, that because you have a gov't pension that if and when you draw social security that you are only entitled to 1/2 of what you would get otherwise. That's the impact - whether you personally think SS is a farce now or later is not the issue.
Just got my 3 month bill for perscriptions. I was paying $15.00 for a 3 month supply. NOW I AM PAYING $60.00 FOR SAME.
Thanks F.O.P. for fighting hard for me. What would we do with out you? Yea.... Ill be voting for Daley...FUCKING NOT!
Fuck
Our
Police
As someone who paid into it from age 16 to 32, I would like to see some of my money back.
Here in Mass. we don't pay into it, many of us did for some time.
If you retire from Policing and then go to work in the private sector after, you will pay int it and have significantly impacted SS payments.
Hey, 02:19:58, I hope you collect what you paid for; all we want is what we paid for. Did you know that private pensions are not affected by Rosty's "windfall" law.
Which makes one think, how arrogant, Rosty was surrounded by government employees, cuts benefits they paid for, and thinks that no one will blow the whistle on his dirty little game with the Congressional Post Office.
When the vote is taken, SCC should post the names and the yeas and nays of our senators and congressmen.
The year before this criminal was idicted the Polish American Police Association named this fucking thief their "Man of the Year". I think it says a lot about the leadership of that organization. Obviously, the genius Copernicus must have been of German extraction....
We need someone with political know how to find out who is and who is not in favor of this bill in regard to our representation here in Illinois. I didnt pay enough in to have it be a big issue but there are plenty of people who came on the job later in life who paid in plenty and they should get their money. If pookie can get shot in the ass selling dope and then draw from the pot then taxpayers should also.
If you worked a job, paid into the system, and EARNED the benefits by doing so,How is that a windfall? no one should be penalized for having more than one retirement option just because one of those options is a government pension. What about people with private pensions? How is it less of a windfall for them? This was just a sneaky way to help aleviate the soc.security shortfall they knew was coming because they raided the fund time and time again both Democrat and Republican.(But mostly Dems.) I doubt that we'll ever see the proper amount of money we're owed.
Screwed is the perfect word.

You stupid f*cks, if you paid in prior to joing this "elite" department, you are probably eligible for some SS payment...........
Everybody should visit lodge 7 website and click on CONTRACT WISH LIST. Fill out the required lines and have at it. GET INVOLVED. It can't hurt voice'n your opinion and concerns.
I've paid well into SS before I came on this job and have earned my 40 credits....it's a shame that I cannot benefit from what I have contributed because of the fat cats in WASH who jilt the American worker. They are so concerned about the illegals in this country they can't see beyond the average US citizen who are trying to make ends meet or try to make their golden years better. Why can't I get what I fully deserve...I put enough into SS and I paid towards my pension. What I will bring home in retirement is a paltry sum compared to our legislatures who are only concerned about themselves, those with $$, or those who have nothing, don't contribute to the economy and continue to take advantage of every handout there is.
All the boomers that are gonna "suck it dry" payed into it for many years and are entitled to receive the full amount owed. Us boomers started out on this job at less per year than we now make in 1 and a half months. We worked part time and payed into the system.
Poor X'er, born to late......is that the same as being a day late and a dollar short......I think so
Here's the link for those of you who live in the 5th Congressional district (Rahm Emanuel). It only takes a few minutes to email him. Don't waste your time composing some opus trying to sway them. Staff only read for things like, "You will lose my vote if ..."
http://www.house.gov/emanuel/contact.shtml
SORRY! I messed up. This link is better. Takes you right to the email page:

Now for those of us who care and may need that extra 2000 a month to supplement our puny city pensions, This Bill Is Our salvation, get the vote out!!!!
You don't lose 50% you lose 60% of your SS money.

To the PO that say POs r now paying into ssn dont know whats happening ====there paying into medicare not SSN I worked 2 jobs The PD and a civialian job I paid in to it and Im lucky 2 get $200.00 a month While the convicted felon gets his Goverment pension from tax money He set the bill up to take effect for those born after 1939 Guess what year he was born Correction Hatched from his mothers ass) I hope he rots while on the face of this earth .

If you don't know who your U.S. rep is paste this in your search engine. The site lets you type in your address and then tells you who your elected officials are for your area. BTW-J.Schakowsky's web site asks that you send feedback on congressional matters via U.S. Postal or phone. She can bite me.

Memo to 9/21/2006 02:19:58 AM in particular and all the rest who are of similar mind:
You too will grow old. You should prepare yourself as I did. I worked numerous side jobs and am entitled to full Social Security benefits. Grow up and realize that life is indeed short and you must plan for the future.
9/21 2:24 GREAT POST!
Since 1899, WE have educated all to many of them in science, technology, and use of modern media at OUR universities and they now use their oil money to purchase OUR technology, scientific advancemnts, and communications devices to use as weapons against US. WE have allowed Millions of them to migrate (legally and illegally) into the communities of the free world, where they have refused to assimilate into local society or culture, and now they cluster and fester, as separate enclaves, having NO loyalties to the Free and Democratic Nations, or local communities in which they reside.
I believe that they ARE "The Enemy Within".
Don't worry about the Moslem Militias of Southern Lebanon; they can't touch us.
Worry about the Moslem Militias of Oak Lawn, Albany Park, or Rogers Park & Skokie! They ARE already here!
As with the State of California, there is an "Earthquake" coming that will destroy many of US. We just don't know when.
All we are asking for is the BENEFITS WE HAVE PAID FOR!
unless u are 5 years away from retiring and very near the magical 65:
YOU WILL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT!
Still don't believe Social Security is on the ballot this November?
In an interview published today in The Wall Street Journal (sub.req.), President Bush told editorial page editor Paul Gigot that next year he plans on partially phasing out Social Security and replacing it with private accounts, and that he thinks he can do it as long as the Republicans retain control of Congress, which he thinks they will.
Boomers Fleece Generation X with Social Security
Generation Xers and Gen-Yers like me have a hard time showing interest in what goes on in Washington. But we had better end our apathy -- and soon -- or we'll spend the rest of our lives paying for it. Members of the generation that came before us -- the Baby Boomers -- are trying to pull a scam under the guise of "protecting" Social Security. If they succeed, we -- and our children -- will be the poorer for it.
.......
But things will change in the next decade, when the Boomers will retire and start collecting benefits. By 2016, so many people will be drawing Social Security that the money needed to cover benefits will be more than what we Gen-X/Y workers will be paying in taxes. Fortunately, the program will be able to cash in the bonds that it's now buying, and will use the repaid principle and interest to keep up the benefits.
..........
However, that can only support Social Security for a few more decades. The bonds will all be cashed in by 2038, just as we Gen-Xers (whose Social Security tax money will purchase many of those bonds and whose federal tax money will pay them off) approach retirement age. So, just as we're about to collect Social Security, there will be nothing left in the Social Security storehouse for us to collect.
Ever since we Gen-X/Yers began working, we've paid 12.4 percent of our earnings to Social Security -- half taken through the "FICA" tax on our paycheck and half through the payroll tax. In the coming years, Congress likely will increase that rate to more than 17 percent to delay the 2038 catastrophe. What is more, the Medicare tax (which is now a mere 2.9 percent) will increase because that program faces an even worse crisis than Social Security.
In contrast, the Boomers will get a bargain. When they entered the workforce in the late 1960s, they paid only 6.5 percent of their earnings to Social Security and nothing to Medicare. For about half of their working years, the Boomers paid 10 percent or less to Social Security and less than 1.25 percent to Medicare. Only from 1990 on, when the Boomers had earned paychecks for a quarter-century, did they start paying 12.4 percent to Social Security and 2.9 percent to Medicare -- the same percentage we Gen-X/Yers have paid our whole lives.
That's the Boomers' bargain: They've paid less of their earnings into Social Security than we Gen-X/Yers, yet they'll receive more in benefits than we will and we'll pick up the tab. And when we retire, there will be no money saved in Social Security to pay for our retirement, unless we pull the same scam on our children that the Boomers are pulling on us.
Hey, Gen Xer, alot of police officers before tara and the new time and half job have worked social security paying jobs for years and years, paying into social security. they no longer can collect that money. the vietnam vet officers since the 70's have had 2nd and 3rd jobs to better support their families and have lost 20 30 years of social security benefits that would bring them some extra income while retired. gee you xer aren't very bright.
I believe those hired after 1986 are only paying into medicare, which is great for them. One thing they should have put in force for everyone they didn't.
to: if you retire and get a social security paying job".......wouldn't it be nice to retire, collect your pension, collect the full social security benefit you earned by working part time for years and buy a home on the lake, or in the mountains, take up a hobby, pay for your daughter's wedding, do whatever you want without having to retire and get another job. life's too short people. let's live it. take advantage of your time here when you retire.
E-MAIL YOUR CONGRESSMAN TODAY....I JUST DID...TELL EVERY COP AND FIREFIGHTER TO WRITE
As Long as I have a Gun and there are convenience stores I will always have money despite the Government
8:10:31,I came on in "86" and have been paying into Medicare. I don't believe that has anything to do with collecting social security benefits. On another thought, when Clinton was President, Rosty was getting out of the slam and Clinton was Quoted as saying"I would like to play a round of golf with Rosty." In my book they are both scumbags.
To 1:28:48, You've got it all wrong. The boomers aren't pulling a scam on you X & Y folks,The GOVERNMENT is pulling a scam on ALL of us. FDR designed Soc Security where it would be fiscally healthy and solvent for generations to come. After WWII, The executive and legislative branches of government began pilfering funds from soc.security leaving IOU's. THIS is why we have the deficit we have now. It's also the reason politicians like Bush want to eliminate it. They don't want to pay back the money they owe the American worker.
Clinton in his last days in the White House "pardoned" Rosty.
God may "forgive" Rosty, if he prays, shows contrition and pays off the right bishop.
But we will not forgive or pardon him until he goes and publicly undoes the damage he did to our Social Security benefits.
In the meantime...
Daley will not be indicted under a Democratic President.
If convicted (Please-Please-Please Dear God), he will be pardoned by the first Democrat as one of the last thing he/she does as President.
There are those that want to give illegals Social Security benefits.
Thanks for the infor. As a CPS employee with only 14 years I too am affected by all this. I wrote to Durbin and Jackson last year and got a rote response. Now wrote Obama. Thanks for the address. I want to retire, but a 14 year pension is nothing. If I could get my full SS it would be great.
I like your site. Very interesting and informative.
Hay lets keep the pressure on the SSN bill
Drop a note to that fucking Rosty and let him know how much we hate him
I hope I can pis on his grave
