This shooting has stunk from the beginning. The officer handled it like a rank amateur not like any 11th Dist warrior that I know. But worse, the supervisors that failed to do their jobs properly really middled this guy and, unfortunately, he'll be the only one to pay. The supervisors have reported so many conflicting stories about this incident that most people will believe that anything Weems says is a lie when he may have truly been in fear for his life - Neither Cline, Day, or any of the other investigators has that excuse. . .

If you get your news from the Reader and believe it you are truely a moron, cretin, and an intellectual idiot. They will print anything that is anti police. Their fact checking and research is limited to the use of spell check and dictionaries. The reader has the same journalistic quality as the Onion. The Onion is just plain funny.

Tonight, Thursday on Chan 2 they are doing a show on the results of an investigation they did and was on going before the Abattery case. The lead guy was just on WLS talking about it. Thay have film of beatings and alleged cover ups. They say they have OPS stats that show the worst cases are on the west side and the worst district is 011.

3 current, former Atlanta police officers indicted in elderly woman's death during drug raid

April 26, 2007
BY HARRY R. WEBER Associated Press
ATLANTA---- A grand jury indicted three current and former police officers in the shooting death of an elderly Atlanta woman during a drug raid, a judge said Thursday.

Officers with a no-knock warrant had raided the woman's home without warning last fall after an informant said he had bought drugs from a dealer there. Kathryn Johnston, 92, died in an exchange of gunfire after the three plainclothes officers burst in.

The specific charges in the indictment were not announced in open court Thursday, but arrest warrants were issued by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Manis.

Fulton County prosecutors said earlier this year that they intended to seek murder charges against officers Gregg Junnier, J.R. Smith and Arthur Tesler, who they said were involved Johnston's death.

Not totally related, but I have a thought that I haven't seen discussed here previously.

The night of the VT shootings, Sneed was being reported and repeated nationally as the original reporter of information that the wanted or deceased offender was a Chinese national who entered through San Francisco etc.

Turns out that the Feds in DC or one of the VA jurisdictions pulled this information and released it on a national teletype. So, of all the places in the U.S. where this was turned up, where does somebody go running screaming to the local gossip columnist? Why Chicago of course!

She had to change her story the next day when the information proved unfounded.

Nevertheless, do any of you who criticize the feds wonder why they wouldn't share information with a single person wearing a Chicago police uniform?

The leadership of the CPD is as incompetent and corrupt as ever. Next time the Feds are conducting a terror investigation and you find information out from the evening news, don't wonder why.

Seriously, why should we do any police work? Every tree hugger wants to scrutinize everything we do. So let’s let all the criminals be free. Let them rob the tree huggers. Let the tree hugger take it in the a$$. Just protect ourselves.
Why save someone from a burning building, they will just say we felt them up. Why save someone who got shot. Who cars! Pretty soon, we will have to have pink fluffy handcuffs. Why doesn't Dave Savini do a story on this? There is a great story here that one of the investigative reporters such as Carol Marin,Chuck Goudie,Pam Zekman could thoroughly investigate and get great ratings on:

The Chicago Reader article about the accidental shooting death at the 95th Red Line station by Officer Alvin Weems definitely casts us in a negative light, but does bring to light the immense disparity in punishment handed down on CR# investigations.

I encourage everyone to read it in its entirety and absorb what occurred. Weems was found guilty of ten rule violations including rule 14 and caused the death of someone yet he only gets a 30 suspension and then gets promoted twice????

What the hell is that? How many coppers have been fired for nothing comparatively speaking? How many take huge suspension time on baseless bullshit beefs? Where was the due process for Captain Buslik?

SCC, please do a post on the imposition and fairness of the disciplinary process on CPD. Let all coppers post the truth on the corrupt system and how they bury beefs if you are politically heavy. Those without clout get fired or take incredible suspension time. This is nothing new, Weems is one of literally hundreds of coppers with pull who have gotten away with a slap on the hand.

Where is the FOP on this issue? Fair is Fair, discipline should not be arbitrarily and capriciously handed out.

Why don't you go interview every cop who got fired in the last 20 years and see if they got clout?
Then go look up all the same things they got fired for and correlate that with officers who didn't get fired but got nada discipline!
CLOUT! WHO YA KNOW! WHO YA RELATED TO! WHAT POLITICAL ORGANIZATION YOUR IN!
WE COULD EASILY LIST A 100 OR MORE CASES OF OFFICERS OF ALL RANKS BEATING CASES BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE IN!!!

Yawn .Big Channel 2 surprises. Not.
What did they report on? An
old story, with the old M.O.'s/complaints-poor investigations and cover-ups Interviews with the same old police hating , city suing ambulance chasers, notably
Craig Futterman of the University of Chicago, who spearheaded the lawsuit against the CPD Public Housing Unit which resulted in a big settlement...how unbiased is he? And he co chaired an anti police workshop this past weekend.
Jon Loevy, the leading police brutality litigator. never met an CPD brutality lawsuit he did'nt like. Got 5 mil off a shooting case in Feb, and loses a big one last year in regards to a false imprisonment trial ( remember that one, L'il jon?)
It was boring, deceptive, and business as usual-they even drug out the old Abbate video.must be sweeps week. No wonder Zekman did'nt touch this with a ten foot pole. Savini, you suck-as a reporter, you'd make an excellent Wal Mart greeter.
It's time to establish an independent investigative, non governmental affiliated watchdog organization that monitors the illegal and unethical actions of lawyers, media, the clergy, and other miscreants hiding behind their offices. Sort of an IAD for the anti police crowd. I can tell you some stories ( and have reports and other files )about Paul Hall, Rev's Caldecott , Pfledger , Meeks and Clements that would shut them up for the rest of their lives. Stones and glass houses, you know. In fact, when I retire, which is soon, I'm gonna give my files to an out of town media outlet-sort of my going away gift to the city.
Nice try Channel Number 2. You suck, although not as bad as WLS Radio, who built this story up. By the way, WLS hosts Jerry Agar and Nate Clay are two of the most relentlessly ill informed police bashers on the radio networks today. I don't buy ANYTHING from ANY of their corporate sponsors. I bet they have the lowest ratings on that station. I'm also boycotting JC Penney, Mercedes Benz ( yes, I have one-big deal-and can afford another one) and TJ Maxx, and any other company that sponsored this biased, poorly researched, ill documented sensationalistic puff piece of shit.

To the bonesmoker that said why do police work? It's called doing what you get paid to do dogass. Let me guess, you are afraid of getting CR#'s or sued right. Work where you live, thats why. Make money, all the while keeping the shitbags out of your neighborhood. Everybody comes on this blog and complains about the beat cars that are working where they live. Well leave the ghetto/desk jobs and police where you live. This is directed to the ramcream that was talking shit about 10 sector cars in 008. Try this, look up the stats from last year at this time and the stats now. Let me know the results. Yes, sell your house and leave thats a great way to keep a neighborhood a nice place to live(coward). Even better yet, when you get done making knuckle children in your basement take a look outside and see who the police are stopping. In closing, why is that after it was mentioned on this blog about tact in 008 not working the westend-next thing you know tact was here. Key words WAS HERE. Discipline handed out to CPD? ONly if you're on video tape or targeted by those media donkeys

The funny thing is, if Sandra Day had actually done the right thing and hung this copper out to dry, you'd all be M-Fing her for THAT! Instead, she does what you all cry about bosses never doing ( standing up for a blueshirt ) and now you are crying about that too. Fuck it, may as well just assume the "guilty until proven innocent" stance that you all complain about anyway.

You’re right in that we are always asking that bosses stick up for us and take our side or at least listen to what we have to say. But in this case you are wrong. A supervisor sets an example and in this case Sandra Day set the tone for the investigation and its results. She fabricated information and made up lies. Who in their right mind was going to go against the street deputy on the scene. She was the highest ranking official on the scene and ran the round table 7 hours after the shooting.

Day should have a CR# issued for this and investigated. She has lied on a official police report and has brought discredit to the police department. She aloud the investigation to take the course it did and now a P.O. will pay the price. She should have questioned his account of the story after having viewed the tape.

An accident shooting is understandable under pressure when confronted with the situation Weem was under, but to have concocted lies upon lies is not understandable.

Investigate the street deputy Sandra Day!!!!

Tell on Weems, tell on your partner, why not tell on yourself. Fucking stool pigeon. A policeman is involved in traumatic shooting and all you can do is tell the news to re-open the case. You need a one way ride. You're so lucky that nobody is on here, putting your dirty laundry on the web for the world to read. Weems, whoever he is, should find you and take you for that ride. You can cause a fellow officer a lot of grief because you're upset you're not promoted, cause you're so deserving. Fuck you...Find some dirty cops that steal money to rat on. Not cops that are involved in life or death situations that go bad for everyone involved. Maybe then you'll get that promotion you want so bad. Shit will never be fair fool...learn to live with it. You don't have to fuck over Weems to drive that point home. I'm just a P.O. that has no clout with over 25 years and sad to know that you now have a forum to spread your gossipy bullshit. Why not take Rosie's place on the view.

Learn some facts first before you say P.O. S. Daniels should not have been fired.
The shooting was ruled justified and is not what got her fired.

Although officers were told to stop their 1999 pursuit of a car after a routine traffic violation, the officers continued on an 80-block chase that ended when Officer Serena Daniels fatally shot LaTonya Haggerty, a 26-year-old computer programmer.

Haggerty was a passenger in her friend Raymond Smith's car when Daniels and her partner pulled Smith over on the South Side. He sped away, and the officers followed. Daniels shot Haggerty when the woman reached for her cell phone, which Daniels thought was a weapon.

The officers did not notify police dispatchers that they were chasing Smith until 33 blocks into the car chase, and they waited almost two hours to report that an officer had fired shots. The officers did not stop chasing Smith when their commanding officer ordered them to.

In 2001, the City of Chicago agreed to pay the Haggerty family $18 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit. Daniels was fired from the police force.

I agree, discipline irregularities, firings, etc., are haphazard and are not consistant on this job to say the least.

The same with hirings. Some people should have never been hired on this job (poor employment history, arrests, traffic, domestics, substance abuse, etc) but because of alderclout phone calls, boss clout phone calls, etc., they miraculously get hired while the regular joe who wants the job won't get it cause he/she doesn't have the juice. Believe it. These clout babies come back to haunt the CPD later when their bad behavior escalates on the job.
Talk to anyone in recruit processing, they will tell you.
Hello Shakman???

T.H. who happened to be Fat Eddie King's nephew. Same shit different day. Truth, justice, fair and impartial does not apply unless you got clout then Fatty Phil and the rest of his useless band of exempts will literally let you get away with murder.
