And it's accompanied by a photograph of the new bathroom down in Springfield that's off limits to anyone who isn't a State legislator of some sort. We're pretty sure the editors would have rather used our headline. In any case, the State reps have a spending program in place that would do the Pentagon proud, or any other large bureaucracy looking to spend money that isn't theirs. We note the following:
- A $38,000 clock. Four-hundred-dollar doorknobs. Redecorated bathrooms for state legislators and staff — more than $444,000.
Those are among the hidden costs of a multimillion-dollar makeover of the Illinois House and Senate with opulent showpieces re-creating the look of the chambers in the late 1800s.
Hell, in the late 1800's, we're pretty sure everyone still kept a chamber pot next to their beds, but we don't see legislators running around with any new pottery. But the best comment is this:
- “Certainly, the chamber has to be nice and to befit a state of our stature. It’s not like we’re Mississippi. We’re a rich state,” said Rep. Jack Franks (D-Woodstock). “But it doesn't mean we should waste taxpayers’ money. You see these types of expenditures, and you have to question whether we could have gotten the same effect for a lot less.”
"We're a rich state." Hmmm. But isn't everyone talking about pension shortfalls? Tax hikes? Didn't Blago just lose some tax hike by a 107-0 vote or something similar? Nice to know we're a "rich state" next time you bastards in Springfield start tossing more of our money into $1,000 toilets.

"How many people have four police officers assigned to drive them and their families around?" Burke said. "Very unfortunate. It's just like Kozubowski in terms of someone who did not appreciate the privilege that they were offered in that office. To think they would abuse their authority is very unfortunate."

Imagine what the cost to the taxpayers has been providing free chauffeurs, valets, coat holders, and supposed body guards to the Daley crime family.
They all have had these free services all these years at the tax payer's dime , of course.
Millions upon millions spent protecting little Dick from his imagined enemies.
Apparently they are all too stupid to operate an auto themselves and need drivers.
you heard it here first...buckingham fountain needs repairs..it's gona cost $34 million to fix and restore. $34 million to restore a fountian???? wonder who'll get the no-bid contract for that one ....

again and again daley and his crooked family take and take! How many cars do the tax payers pay for? 5-10-50-100? How much gas do they use? daley is a friend of algore and he is worried about bullshit global warming lie so why is he wasting fuel? His cars are always ideling and he gets new every 6 months but the same color to keep us from knowing as he thinks we are to stupid to realize his scheme! The king gets whatever he wants from the flock of contractor friends. Why was his condo so low priced but only to him? Why are his taxes lower than others in the same development? he can do it we cannot! OUR TIME TO RISE UP IS NOW!! NEVER VOTE DUMBOCRAT IN THIS CITY IT JUST MEANS MORE ILLEGALS, MORE WELFARE, MORE FREE SHIT FOR NON WORKERS, AND TO FUCK THE POLICE! DALEY EVEN DESPISES HIS OWN DETAIL SUCH AN ASSCLOWN!
As many posts as I read here pissing and moaning about the inequity and such, why haven't 1 10th or 1 /100th of you ever swore an oath and talked to some of the Feds just circling like sharks around the Chicago cesspool? Seems so many of you know where the corpses are hidden. Don't think I'm dogging you. I'm pleading with you to man up. If I had one provable fact I would have offered it. I would be proud to be kick the leg out from under the Daley/machine throne in this city. Argueably whoever does that will be much more famous, and a better public servant than the legions of 11th ward crap.
Waitaminnit!! Didn't they shut down Buckingham a few years ago for some extensive goddamn repairs?
