Another One Bites the Dust

  • A Calumet City man fleeing Chicago police was killed late Thursday during an exchange of gunfire with an officer on the city's Far South Side, police said.

Police determined this afternoon that the "officer was within department guidelines in use of force with [a] service weapon," according to Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond.
And everyone who is supposed to go home safe, went home safe.

an off topic question----why is it that the 008th dist is always in a backlog and 10sector cars are sent to the 30sector. but the 008th dist holds a car down 2 or 3 times aweek from 1800-2100hrs playing private security guard for the c.r.o.e. yes thats right 008th district taxpayers. 008 holds a car down watching the parking lot for the coalition for the rememberance of elijah muhammed at 71/campbell.

Unfortunately, their will be alot of off duty shit happening including off duty shootings in 004. No police presence and no police back-up or response to emergency's means we all have to act and take the law in our own hands because their are No police on the streets in 004. Fucking ridiculous if you ask me. A high concentration of good tax paying citizens including tons of city workers but NO police. Mayor Daley, Alderman Pope and the 004th district commander cares little about our safety and our concerns.

Don't blame the Cmdr. of 004 for the lack of Police over there. All of the Cmdrs. are well aware of the manpower restraints, and have been begging for bodies for since before LAST summer. The Academy can only send so many out, and then it takes 18 months before they can work with non-seasoned officers. Add to that the bodies bled off into the specialized units, and we all know the results.
And as it has been pointed out before, POOR SUPERVISION runs rampant on this dept. 1 hr+ paper jobs with no arrests, 2/3 hr. misdemeanor arrests, no one calls these people on the carpet for excessive time spent performing many daily, rountine assignments that just drag on and on...until this last issue is properly addressed by conscientious supervisors who work TOGETHER to clamp down on it, the word "backlog" will continue to be heard on various CPD radios with increasing frequency.

You must be a sgt. On days in older stations, if you work 99 and make an arrest, you have to get someone to watch your prisoner each time you have to leave the "holding" room while you go to the desk to make notifications, get the arrest approved, do an inventory, etc. It takes time and in addition the computers are slow.

Also, the ways things are now, I always make sure I do a thorough job, since assholes like you will throw me to the wolves the minute I make a mistake. Fortunately, there is only one like you that i know of in my district.

Like automated Arrest is a user friendly? Perhaps the WC can curtail his cruising the district 3 hours for the freebie lunchspot?

How about the Domestic & in-progress calls with 10minutes left in the tour when early cars are already out on the street?

Hey Super Sarge BITE ME ASSJAG!!
