This Saturday I will be taking the LT's oral test for the second time in six months. Although I threw away all of my study materials just weeks before I realized there were testing problems, I now realize it was all MY fault.
I should have realized that there was always the possibility that approx. 50 exams would prove to have errors and we would all have the option to retake this portion again with the SAME EXACT QUESTIONS. As I write this after studying today, I feel like I'm in the movie Groundhog Day and that I will be studying for the same test the rest of my life for an exam in which I HAVE ALL OF THE ANSWERS!

I would just like some guidance to find out how long I should keep the materials I had to find all over again. Should I wait until all of the appeals from the Sgt's Assoc. have been thrown out of court or wait until the flood of new law suits are filed.
If this test actually produces new LT's, will everyone look at me odd because I was off THAT exam. Will I feel lower than those promoted by MERITORIOUS means because I retook a test in which I knew the answers. Everyone will have a good feeling who scored in the top 100 but we will never really know all of the MERITORIOUS selections and why. Will there be an asterick after my name on the A/A's because of this test?
Again, thank you for either hiring an incompetent testing firm or hiring your friends or both. How come when your branch of the gov't screws up or your friends get in trouble it is short lived but the CPD's problems linger forever, especially near contract time.

Don't count out Skahill. In my opinion, of all the female candidates, none is more qualified than Skahill and Kirby. Either one would be a sound choice. And don't bash on Kirby about the recent Behavioral Intervention Program mess that IAD is dishing out. It's all being dictated from the Personnel Division, who, in turn, is having it dictated to them via various City attorneys.

Off topic - Why does the FOP have so many Board members? The New York Police Dept. (NYCPBA) has 27 members (A department 3 times our size). The L.A. union Board has 9. The FOP Board has 28 members! The each $400 a month including the inside guys totaling $11,200 a month ($134,400)-a year). It is worse than the akdermen, who have 50 to represent 2.7 million people. The membership is paying over a million dollars a year for the Board.

AMEN! another great statement! this is most likely the most corrupt city in the country! with daley at the helm and all the alderman supporting the slave master by their silence, even though at times they speak out as a ploy so you think they are bucking the king they always fall in line! the dept is racked with scandalous behavior the majority are very connected and are also spineless who fall under and honor daley and company! the days of any independent thinking are GONE! we are under a dark cloud with daley! just do as little as possible back each other up and collect a nice pension as if you work you can look at daley running ops, and getting fired even more going to jail and losing everything you worked for it is not what you do in this insanne city it is what they say you did!

Not so fast asshat! I made Detective off the list, and scored in the mid 100's on the last Sergeant's exam and I am a minority. Not only that, I know at least 10 other minorities that scored from 25 to 180. Take that, and stop pre-judging FUCKO!
I've got it figured out. We have co-superintendents. Jesse Jacson and Father Pfleger. New general orders. To put an end to discrimination and racial prejudice, cops can only be assigned to handle jobs involving the same race as the caller. traffic stops will be conducted only if the person you are stopping is the same race as you. Strret stops the same way. In fact they also have to be the same gender and sexual preference. all police staions will be turned into churches on Sunday including 35th and Michigan. Cops will now have 2 way cameras on them 24 hours a day to recod everything you do and say, on-duty and off duty. The new weapons order will have every copper carrying flowers in their holster and a cross in their nightstick holder. We will have to do two marches against violence per tour holding hands and singing hymns. We will chage our patches to the Chicago social worker and reverend department. We will pray with any person we arrest and hug them before they go into lockup, telling them we understand it is not your fault, but your upbringing. You will not touch them. If an arrest is needed you will give ask them if they will handcuff themselves and if they refuse you will not force them to be handcuffed. You will not arrest anyone on Christmas, Thanksgiving or their birthday. The department will never be sued, Daley will never be embarassed and no more lawsuits. The King will be happy and the reverends will be happy. Problems solved.

Yes, for now it is a way of keeping the memory of their son alive, the only problem is they are being used and abused by people with an agenda. Eventually, they will have to sit down and realize that their son isn't coming back and deal with that- something that is extremely painful - so, I do sympathize with them, I do understand why they are doing it, but I also see some serious heartbreak for them down the road in the fairly near future... and it will only be worsened when they realize how they have been used by people who really don't care one whit about Blair Holt, his parents or ANYONE or ANYTHING except their own policical agenda... I know that right now they are thinking that this gives a meaning to their son's life, I only wish the whole circus didn't make them look like puppets... I feel their pain and they don't feel it yet.. it will be bad. Anyone who is a friend or family to them should be ready to help out when the realization comes to them... we shouldn't bash them.
Sneed's column posts that CW and HG are the front runners; I tend to agree with her. She seems to be in Hiram's corner. We'll see if any luck rubs off her and onto HG!!
