Don't know if anyone caught this little gem over the long weekend:
A 2-year-old boy was shot at a south suburban liquor store early Friday morning.
The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. at Greenwood Liquors and Food, 825 E. Sibley Blvd., in Dolton.
The toddler was injured by his biological father's gun during an exchange of gunfire with other men at the store, according to a release from Dolton police.
We don't know about all of our readers, but the first thing we think of bringing to the liquor store at 1:30 in the morning is our two-year-old boy. Can't have the son-and-heir missing out on this memory-making experience. The second thing we never forget is our gun. You never know what might pop off in the streets of Dolton and we'll be damned if we're going to get caught unarmed.
Son in one hand, gun in the other; who's going to carry the liquor? Thank god this didn't happen in Chicago. Who knows how Phleger and his ilk might have managed to blame the "polices" again for a two-year-old being on the streets at 1:30 in the morning in the middle of a running gun battle. The Olympic Committee would have been appalled.

I know I shouldn't be surprised by this story, but it still bothers me. The only place a 2-yo should be at 1:30 a.m. is in his/her crib sound asleep.
Parents like that shouldn't be allowed to breed and should be forced to have instant sterlization.
Go to any liquor or link accepting store in Englewood, and you'll see kids and babies out with their ever so caring parents at 2am. Its a must to get their Kites, shit tasting beer, or what ever else.

What's even more ridiculous about this story is the response of the "community." The first thing they did the next day was stage an anti-gun, anti-violence rally outside the liquor store. But wait a minute, they weren’t protesting the gun or the violence they were blaming the liquor store. WTF. Blame Kenwood liquors not the participants in the gun battle. Blame the guns not the assholes holding them. This story reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Raising Arizona; when Nick Cage brings his wife and son to an armed robbery to get pampers.

This again was an incident that occured on the southside, involving a certain demographic.
Essentially, dozens of people are partying and BBQing along the lake front. Not one responsible adult notices the 5 year old has wandered off.
Sadly, he was playing on the wall and fell into the lake and drowned. He was rescued after nearly 50 minutes in the water. He couldn't be revived.
I don't know what is more sad, the incident itself or the fact that there was no adult male role model there to dive in after him.(in many communities they are in short supply due to incarceration)
Now of course, the family of the young victim are calling for the city to install fences along the lakefront. As if a fence is a substitute for supervising your child!

There should be someone there to inform said gentleman that it is not proper to bring your child to the liquor store at 1:30 in the morning. Victims are getting younger and younger all the time. The government should provide bullet proof diapers to struggling families who have to go shopping after hours for discount prices.

You all miss the point entirely from a cultural point of view. This is nothing more the specialized training for a future NFL draft pick. The two year old gets some valuable bonding time with Dad, and gets to hold the 40 oz., building up muscle mass for a future in the NFL. When the shooting occurs you are to teach him mind you NOT to drop the 40 (Good hands under stress)ALSO(More training as a Wide Receiver in the NFL). During the shooting the child gets to practice running away...building up speed..quickness..hitting the hole..(Or later the ho).. you cannot replace training like that at Pop Warner...

community activist wants store closed. like they said...blame everyone and everything except the person behind the trigger.

Keep allowing them to reap the benefits provided by the gainfully employed citizens everytime they reproduce. Continue to provide free health care, housing, food programs and educational opportunities that are hardly ever taken advantage of. Keep rising to their defense everytime a toddler or other "innocent" black youth is gunned down over a basketball game, bag of weed, set of rims, etc., etc., etc. Keep refusing to acknowledge the fact that the majority of crime in this city is perpetuated by the "usual suspects". If anyone watched the ABC news coverage I had to laugh. They showed the seen of the shooting during the daytime and mentioned that it was right next door to a Day Care Center (and actually showed a shot of the Daycare center). If you knew nothing else about the incident, it sounded as if the Father just picked up his child from Daycare and got caught in the middle of the shooting. It made no mention of the time the shooting happened or that the father was actually at the liquor store with his child. The Chicago Media never ceases to amaze me.
Thanks for telling us at what time the shooting took place. All the local news reports only said "early morning", like maybe they were there to pick up some orange juice for breakfast. I hate the liberal media! Why can't they ever give us the WHOLE story?!
Only Paul Harvey gives the "whole" story but he is a conservative and not to be believed.

I agree, very tragic situation, even more so because the parents of the dead 5 year old were at home, having allowed him to go with a family friend (the father of the deceased's playmate). What was to be a family BBQ and a chance to see the fireworks turned into every parent's worst nightmare. In this situation, the biological parents weren't even there, so you can't blame them. If you read the police reports and the detective's notes, you will see this was a really tragic horrible nightmare, regardless of socio-economic status or race. The poor guy who asked to take the boy with him was inconsolable. As an officer having seen people in these awful situations, my prayers go up for all involved, including the bike officer who tried to help find the child and all the other people who had to stand by helplessly as they watched this tragedy unfold. Now the facts before you judge.....

I heard from an extremely reliable source that J-fed wants us in navy blue shirts to match our pants. Also the reason for the low number of cars on the street, is that our cars will be dark as well with a white stripe down the side. I hear he saw that TRU armored truck and liked the look. Also said cost is not an issue

Then they will have to go further to get their liquor and more of the folks at another liquor store will mean increased profits for the competition. It probably was a setup by the competition! Of course!

Upper middle class until you factor in the 2000 per month it costs to keep you kids out of public schools with the blacks and Hispanincs, the same people that are out at 0200 hrs shooting it up at the liquor store or holding down the spot in just about any district in the city.
If we expect these people to change we must begin to demand it and create a disincentive to remain in the city if they want to continue being a criminal. We need you; Daley, Obama, Phleger, Jackson, etc to stand up and demand that your people begin to act appropriately, raise their children, put the guns away and stop blaming white people for their problems. Because when they hear it from us they just cry racism.
Until you do this you will remain a joke to the real people in the city who will continue to treat you accordingly until the day that you drive the last one of us out.

Dark blue uniform shirts and trousers have the standard of the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) for years. That is part of the reason the NYPD went back to dark blue shirts when they consolidated the 3 NY police agencies about 10 years ago.
The NIJ wants all police agencies nationwide to wear the same type/color of uniform, just like in the European countries. An officer in England & Scotland wears the same uniform, whether he is in London, Leeds or a 300 person village. Same in Germany, France, Spain.
If JFed wants us in dark blue--the city coughs up the first issue. That is in the contract 16,000 shirts at $45 a pop=720K that is a lotta money.

I heard Arne Duncan say that he was unapoligetic for offering incentives to kids for going to school.
My incentive was one or two new pieces of clothing,(yes, I attended a CPS) shoes, socks etc., new pencils amd a pen that would last all year, notebook paper, notebook, pencil case and a good swift kick in the ass if I even thought of not going to school.

I used to work in Dolton, and its an armpit. CFD medics told me it is worse than Chitown. I hope the father feels really good about his decision to take a child otside @ a dangerous time. Bless the child!
