Ironic the City of Chicago would disband the OCD Gambling unit just when the State of Illinois is about to approve the use of outfit/mob own video poker machines in the taverns, train/bus stations and truck stops.

Who's over there now anyway? For years it was the same guys w/supv appointed from the First Ward. They gotta be gone by now. Back then the outfit needed inside guys to let them know when their saloons would be getting hit. I can't imagine that's changed, except that a lot of their ops are in spas aka massage parlors.

Yeah make them sign up. They already had in place the dump names and lied about it to everyone and won't admit they ordered the dumps. EB don't know what hes talking about and doesnt know what hes doing and wants the impossible and wont listen. He says be the police and do it anyway ,figure it out or else. EG is even stupider and thinks shes making points with EB... I guess she is. EB wants vice to work shootings and murders and he says the superintendent only cares about. EB got a problem with residence private strip parties and demands long paper arresting people without pc and take their shit on a only anov. Wonder why he has so much information of exact addresses? EG told gambling to use personal cars on investigations or take the bus. Pay back is a bitch EG. Wait til they know EG blew $10,000 OCD funds on one strip club. Big fat negative. It's refreshing to see that some things never change within the Dept. It's likely that some of the "changes" that have occurred in OCD/Vice have come to fruition because someone has discovered who the invisible people are in that unit, and opted to bring some fresh blood into the place. That happens anytime a change in leadership occurs. The "entitled ones," after hiding out in these units and generating very little justification for their existence there due to low or, in many cases non-existent activity, get pissed about returning to patrol, and rag out the boss here, especially if the new boss is a woman or, in the case of Brown, a black one. While I'm no fan of DTB, I respect the right of any boss to make the changes they see fit, even if I don't agree with them. Though it hasn't been discussed here at SCC, the new Cmdr of Narcotics has quietly dumped two Sgts. from that unit after he took over the helm; both were black. One was a Sgt. who had spent many years there as a Patrolman before being promoted, and returned there as a Sgt. The other was a Sgt. who has been there for many years. No one bitched about it here on SCC at all, or associated their reassignments as racially motivated. Obviously, some of the people moved out by Brown and acted upon by Gushes are white, which is why there is "so much dissention" that is now in discussion here. If the removals were ordered by Brown, you can't blame Gushes as his Lt./CO there for following the orders of her superior, thats what she's supposed to do. The same actions are being done throughout this Dept. by Peterson, Dugan and others at the request of higher ups
who obviously don't have a clue as to how to effectively manage the CPD. Face it people, we have become just another patronage dumping ground for the Machine, and we are going to see many more outrageous changes conducted by these "don't you know who sent me here" people who have been dropped into their positions from the Hall to run the show, regardless of their apparently poor qualifications to do so.

That's the CPD way. Every three years the exempts "shake things up" and exhume the same brain dead policies that were laid to rest three years previous. Centralize then decentralize. Old clout then new clout. Smoke up the ass and broken mirrors, nothing more than that. They play their game and I just try and make it though the work day in one piece.

What are Gushes qualifications to be a leader? She will do anything to get ahead. Never worked the street and will back stab anyone. Brown and Gushes, both the same. Gushes will try to blame anyone when questioned.
To 5:27 am: the bitching has nothing to do with the changes being made nor is it racial. For the record half the people dumped were black and half were white. There were workers in those changes, and EG and EB keep lying about why and how it happened.
This is about two balloon heads having the balls to stand in front of the unit and give an ignorant and insulting lecture on how to be the police. Policing to EB apparently means breaking the law, because that is exactly what the unit will be doing now because of his grandiose ideas. They contradicted each other throughout the whole meeting. The first five minutes they promised the world, cars, phones, radios, undercover resources to do the job better. By the end of the meeting they said you're not getting anything, but figure out a way to the job the way we want it. They cockily said if you can't handle it or its too much for you, just tell us and we'll send you to wherever you want. The meeting was arrogant and demeaning and ridiculous with Mr. Charm EB eye f-ing and hooting and hollering with the sisters. It was embarrassing to watch and know this is the chief of ocd.
EB won't listen to the fact that the unit is run by the DBA, like it or not. They have depicted the way vice works for years, and it includes tons of anovs for misdemeanor violations and city ordinances. This unit is controlled by the city because vice crimes generate tons of revenue. Other bosses who tried to fight city hall in the past have gotten launched, so we can only hope and pray the same thing happens here.
EB also said the unit is going to be investigating dog fights, link and wic card theft, interviewing arrestees of narcotics round ups (who knows for what purpose), home invading private residences who have strippers at their parties, going after homicide and aggravated battery offenders with warrants. There are other units in place that do those things and we have no business stepping on their toes.
Everyone in that unit was doing exactly what they have been told to do by EG. Then she dumps them for doing exactly what she demanded for 4 years. If EB didn't like what the unit was doing, then he should have dumped Eve. If you want to describe a person hiding for years and getting away with doing absolutely nothing and never coming to work, it was her. She is the one who should have been dumped.
EB and EG seriously do not know nor understand what the vice unit does. Because they think they are smarter than everybody and want to intimidate the unit, they will not ask the unit first what they can and cannot do.
Interesting enogh EB has a fixation with stripper parties and a motel feticious. A unit member at the meeting tried to logically and lawfully explain why the unit can't do what he wants them to do. EB told the unit to do it anyway, yes, violate a department order. EB said if you document it on paper, then you're covered. He repeated this over and over again in a condescending manner as if the whole unit was stupid.
Thanks genius. Documenting on paper that you knowingly violated a department order and violated a person's civil rights sends you to jail.
Ernie Brown is one stupid chief he will send you 1st class right to the pen. Peterson if you and the boys upstairs are keeping up with this shit, you had better do something to get Eve G. and Ernie out of control. whatever is left of the unit will be lost.

Officers get written up for this shit. You are not supposed to use personal cars for investigations. What if they get into an accicent in their own cars, but on duty? Who's liable, the city or your insurance company? Take the bus? Crazy. What happens when you make an arrest...cuff 'em and throw em on the CTA bus? I don't believe such idiocy. To 5:27am....If you are bringing up race in Unit 189, why are you falling to mention the new commander(who is pretty great btw..) dumped a WHITE sgt. also, and the white sgt. was one of the first ones dumped..forget that huh??
Also EB has gotten rid of plenty of WHITE officers from 189 and basically brought in all black ones.. Many who haven't had a lot of street experience(a good handful barely have the required 5yr on the job minimum). One of the last F/1's he brought over has been a secretary at the airport for the last 7 yrs. WTF is that all about?? Sorry facts are facts, check the previous transfer orders. Since you wanted to bring the whole race thing up and all...

Many officers have what we all call sources. Not all sources want to sign up, but that doesnt' mean they aren't good for solid information. It sounds like you're f-cked and being set up for failure.

in my unit #177 fourth and fifth floor dollies are all going convalescent duty so they dont have to go out in the summer and do police work that they originally signed up for after taking the police test.

EG is a former kindergarten teacher. She treats every offcier the same. Never worked the street but amazingly is a acting commander of a unit. If mealer and Doty are exempts, why not EG? After all folks, she is a doctor and qualified. Just ask her. What could be worse? Ernie brown?
Nobody has department cell phones in vice. Chief told the unit to give the ci your personal cell phone number. He said he did it all the time because he's the police. Every training class on ci's say the number one rule is never trust a ci. But the chief thinks its a good idea for officers to give a ci that we're not supposed to trust our personal cell phone number? The other one says how about we get one department phone for each team to share for all their ci's? It just keeps getting better and better...

Get the facts straight before writing. Linda has less than 20 years and is not afraid of the street and has been in licensing for less than 6 years. You must be referring to the F/1, with 20 years on and all taken care of and most likely called for an FTO since she has never been in a district. A bit surprised that she even knows what an FTO is. So facts straight!!!! Maybe if the unit is lucky Lt EG will be a field lt on the south side soon. We can only hope!!!

Listen up second floor supercop, nobody is whining or bitching about working. Since you can't read or comprehend the other comments, I'll try splaining it to you in english.
City hall dictates what the vice unit does because its the one CPD unit in the city that can generate money without trying. Always has, always will. Its the nature of the crime. Vice charges are all misdemeanors or ordinance violations. You aint got nothing to hold over an arrestees head to get him (or her) to flip when it aint a felony and they know Br 43 don't prosecute nobody.
DBA assigns cases to License team for investigation including who to cite or not cite. Licensing generates revenue from city businesses. Sam and human trafficking are federal grants and aint going away when its free money and more revenue. Gambling generates money for the county. City hall tells the supt who tells the commander who tells the unit what to do. Period. No boss has been able to change it since forever.
Go play your violin elsewhere and keep buying your bag of dope and we'll keep writing anovs and asking for bjs and generating revenue for the city, which just might get you a better contract.
