- Aunt B Cuello showed up at the Academy the other nite in civies and no id card.
F/1 at the desk refused her entry.
F/1 now dumped.
Hey B is you make a rule, try to follow it yourself! - CPD policy states that every officer in plain cloths WILL wear their department I.D. when in a police facility, unless your aunt B the deputy superintendent.
Aunt B comes over the the academy late Wednesday afternoon and is instructed by the female security officer she needs to wear her department I.D. as the signs states when you first walk into the building. Aunt B has no I.D. on her person. Well the security officer is doing her job by the book and the two start to exchange a few words. (the female doesn't know who B is) Aunt B is escorted into the building by a sergeant anyway.
On the way out Aunt B reams the female officer with Maria Maher type screaming and by Friday the female officer is dumped to 004.
Some reward for doing your job by enforcing our policy.
It's the little crap like this that completely undermines anything that comes out of your mouth. Oh, who are we kidding, it's the big stuff, too. And the idiots you surround yourself with.

Does the Chicago Police Department have any leaders? Weis certainly isn't. After reading this incident, Cuello finally, beyond any reasonable doubt, is finally recognized, not as a leader, but as a bully.
It has to be a pain in the ass for a competent Assistant Deputy Superintendent to improve a police department with incompetents such as Cuello. Is this why McCotter and McNulty retired?
Dwight Eisenhower described leadership as: "The art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it."
In this incident, the officer was required to check IDs and got the job done because she wants to do it right. This is a perfect example of an officer demonstrating self-motivation. It's also a perfect example demonstrating Cuello is out of her league as an exempt; Cuello has no clue of the definition of leadership.
Looks like an open and shut case. After the 3rd district police impersonation case, this officer took it upon herself to do the job right. Now the department screwed the copper.
In the future, good luck getting any production out of this officer.
That sucks. How can the officer be dumped to 004? Usually the officers working the desk there on afternoons is a district officer (012). They dumped her out of her district? That's low down. She was doing her job.
This is one of the main problems facing this departmnet. Certain rules apply to some and not to others. Jody you are a joke. And the main reason is because you actually expect us to believe that you are trying to legitamize this department. When in fact you have made it more clout friendly under your regime than the previous ones. At least they never claimed that things would be fair and aplied across the board. Everyone knew that clout was king before but at least the bosses didnt deny it. You on the other hand claim true merit promotions and rules that aply to everyone. A statement which could not be further from the truth.

If this is a true story B-Cuello is a real POS. She is going to dump a po to 004 just because she did her job. What is wrong with this department. That officer is a good person and will be making sgt probably in the next class. Why couldn't B-Cuello speak like a normal person and explain her situation then maybe make a phone call to 012 District W/C to get clearance since she did not have her Id on her. Next question did she have her weapon with her? That is also a reason to get a CR on the B. She did not have any ID but she did have a weapon. While working the Puerto Rican Fest, there was a gangbanger who was gettting locked up and he put up a fight ( took 5 officers to get him down) anyhow . Aunt B was in the area very nearby as I and a few others approached to help our fellow brothers in blue , we saw her role her eyes and do an about face as though she was disgusted with what she had just seen. What, did they do something wrong? She didn't even bother to check to see if those officers were ok or to even acknowledge they had done a good job. What an ambarassment !!! From top Brass. No not always, I was returning from Iraq and I was placed on the desk there for a month or so. The fact that you are on the desk there you are not clout heavy. I remember a guy from 012 that worked it and he was a fucking nut job. He attacked a fellow cop who was a K-9 PO. At first I thought it was a joke. I am walking by, here is this desk PO taking a poke at my class mate. I really thought they were kidding until he told me later did u see what that crack pot did. So clout is not the only factor.

This sounds too far fetched to be true. We have a contract that prevents these asshat bosses from being able to just dump you anywhere they desire. This kind of thing happened at O'hare airport and all the people that were launched sued and won. They got the opportunity to return to the airport or their choice of dist. I believe and got some type of monetary reward as well. It was a breech of contract. So if this did happen I hope she has the sense to do the same. These bosses actually think we pay attention to who they are and their rank of the day. There's so many of these chosen ones and with J-Fed playing musical chairs with them on a weekly basis how can you possibly keep up. And who cares. Most of them are know nothing political hacks. I wouldn't know who she was if she walked in to a room dressed in uniform let alone civilian dress and would have done the same thing as the P.O. behind the desk. If they really want us to know who they are they should put their picture and rank on the daily bulletin so we can try to keep up. So, if I understand you correctly, rules do not apply to exempts? Yet exempts established the rules and will punish officers for not following protocol. So, be punished for not doing your job and be punished for not knowing who are all of 110 exempts???? Exempts visit the academy every day and all have ID's. Why is she different? because she is female?

I wonder who really dumped this officer? Was it Cuello or the female commander who dumped the officer? Did the ADS or commander try to defend the officer who was following the specific instructions established by them? I have seen numerous exempts sign in at the front desk. Even Masters always stops at the front desk, displays his ID and will greet eveyone. Masters shows respect along with the other exempts. Weiss wears an ID. Why is Cuello any different? Did Cuello attend the leadership seminar? The performance training? What an example of leadership.
QUIT COMPLAINING! There is a very easy solution to this problem. All the wronged officer has to do is to go to the new blog501 and ask, in that open and honest forum, what she did wrong and how the issue will be addressed.
Don't you know that's what the new blog501 is for? Open and honest exchange in the department. I'll keep checking to see if that happens.
I work the 1st watch in 012 and have not been off since the 21st. and this is the 1st I've heard of the incident. If this were true I'm sure I would have heard something.

The copper was in the wrong place. B needed some mixers for cocktails and thought the she could find them at the academy.
Right after getting out of academy a group of us(ppos) were assigned to guard stairwells at 11th State...being new kid with no prior police experience of bossess,gold stars etc I was told no one in stairwell without star or wearing id card....
about 2300hrs three "older" men in short sleeve shirts and jackets came up stairs and just walked by me without stopping, even though I asked for id.....
not knowing what to do I unsnapped holster..all three men stopped, one said they were sorry and showed me gold star(future supt)..
theother boss said be careful with these new kids, the do what you tell them..

SCC-You're not surprised are you? When people are allowed special privileges, it feeds their grandiosity. I have been wondering how this high ranking official would behave once the dust settled on her condo situation, and obviously she has no shame or remorse as to how she failed as a mother, failed as a landlord, and failed as a commander or whatever the fuck bullshit title she has. She does not deserve her position. But I guess this is what happens when clout, political correctness, affirmative action and all the other excuses society has constructed in order to promote the weak, stupid and clueless. Unfortunately, her ego and ineptness affect those under her.
The fact that she felt justified in screaming at someone who did their job correctly demonstrates just how fucked this police department is. I hope the gal who was dumped to the district is doing ok. She did the right thing and you should never, ever, regret or make excuses for that.

This is actually a good point. If the PO did know who she was and still would not admit her, then that was not real smart. Although I have been retired for a couple of years, in my 40 year career the most important thing I learned was that every story has 2 sides. It would be interesting to hear Cuello's. Until it is heard, and it may never be, it is really impossible to judge. As someone else mentioned, if the PO was assigned to the 12th District, and if she was a bid person, how could she be summarily dumped to another district?'

I find this story interesting in that I think security at the academy is the worst of any department building. I did training there as a civilian before getting on the job and walked in without ID all the time. I'd say that about half the time I don't bother to wear my ID, since no one seems to care and I've never been asked for it. I have NEVER, not one time, been asked to show my ID, even after the incident in 003.

It also shows how there are those for whom the rules don't apply. I have to show my I.D. every time I go to the academy, even at my own district. I don't keep cocaine in my residence, yet when cocaine is found in quantity at this Bosses residence (it was in her name) nothing is done. I am a supervisor in 012 and see her at least two or three times a week in uniform. One night I was there in CD and forgot to display my ID. Although she knows me she challenged me. She told me that she was being watched to be sure that everyone followed the policy and was told it didn't matter if she knew them or not she was going to do her job. No problem I put on my ID and thanked her. B should have done the same.

Different topic! At the award ceremony the other day! There was a certain captain F/2 walking around checking on officers that were wearing bands around their stars in memory of Alex. Well guess what she told us to due! Yes you guessed right she told us to take them off because not everyone was wearing them and it didn't look uniform. That shit was so fucked up the only reason that I didn’t fuckin flip and walk out of there was because my family and kids were there to see daddy get an award! OK... Devils advocate here- maybe there's more to the story. Yes the desk officer was proper in requesting id. Yes BC was wrong to not produce it. Maybe B was appealing to the officer (still wrong, I know) but perhaps the desk ofc got out of line and escalated things. Couldve happened like that. Many, many years ago, my homicide partner and I were dispatched to CCH Trauma Unit to stand by a critically wounded PO who was unconscious. We had instructions to attempt an interview if he came around. Then homicide commander Joey D called and told me to have a 012th District PO stationed at the Trauma Unit door and not to allow anyone except medical personnel access.
About 30 minutes later Joey D shows up at the Trauma Unit in casual street clothes and the PO of course challenges him. In the imperial arrogant manner only exempts can muster, the homicide commander starts to harangue the PO with the typical bullshit "Don't you know who I am?" etc. etc. Luckily I was able to step in and redirect his attention to the injured PO who was dying before our eyes.

I work in a city-wide unit and while wearing a bullet proof vest, duty belt, and a star, I still get looked up and down by the desk crew or door guard to make sure I am wearing an Id. The bitch was wrong for fucking with the P.O. for doing her job and if I was her I wouldnt let this incident go.
How about a push for only one promotion by merit through your career. You can make detective, sergeant, or lieutenant, but only once. Any promotion beyond your "one" has to tested for. That would limit how hight some of these terrible bosses can go. And if you aren't testing for it, why should you be allowed to be promoted each time by merit. Does honestly believe that is necessary.

While working the Puerto Rican Fest, there was a gangbanger who was gettting locked up and he put up a fight ( took 5 officers to get him down) anyhow . Aunt B was in the area very nearby as I and a few others approached to help our fellow brothers in blue , we saw her role her eyes and do an about face as though she was disgusted with what she had just seen. This is some A#1 bullshit and encapsulates exactly what's wrong with this department. If you're a piece of shit, you're taken care of, and if you have clout, you're untouchable.
I can't tell you how many times I've had carry clout heavy drunks, thieves and sociopaths because they screwed up and the watch had to hide them in the lockup. While regular POs can't get time on the end because their numbers are low. The pieces of shit, who do absolutely nothing, get whatever they want because it's easier for the WC to hide them, to give them CU, give them a foot post, give them medical or put them 99.
And they wonder why morale is so low; you get fucked for doing your job, you get fucked for doing what's right, you get fucked for being normal, you get fucked for having a conscious, you get fucked for not being born to the right family. And as a little treat while being fucked, you get to watch dogs get whatever they want. This job isn't about what one deserves or earns, it's about nepotism.
It's not even isolated to the department, it's citywide. How many examples are there of clout babies stepping on their dicks then getting a promotion, or getting fired then re-hired in another 6 figure position?

The only 012th Dist officer on the security desk at the Academy is the midnite shift. All other shifts are manned by academy personnel.

I'm a lurker and a Jungian analyst. I couldn't help but post after reading the "warrior" letter and watching this issue unfold.
When Mr. Dugan starts talking about "warrior" (energy) that should sound an alarm bell. Instead of challenging his troops to call out their "warrior energy", he would be better off looking at his own warrior energy. When was the last time he was actually in touch with it?
Others can't do for you what you need to do for yourself Mr. Dugan. The crisis of warrior energy by blue shirts on the streets of Chicago is very likely because of a crisis of warrior energy at the top. A real warrior does not leave the battlefield until the last man is taken care of. I have a feeling that the entire CPD command staff from the Supt. on down would be better off looking into the long heavy bag they drag behind them before they ask anything more from their officers or they risk destroying the last vestige of department morale.
What we are seeing is truly a mythical story as old as life itself. We have a sick, dying King (Daley) and those responsible for leading the men into battle are completely blind to everything around them because they are so busy defending and protecting their ego's (Ms. Cuello included).
If one is truly going to embark on the hero's journey, it begins by going alone into the darkest part of the forest where the path is unclear (Joseph Campbell). The true hero's (the men and women of the CPD) already know that. They do it everyday. What they need is inspiration and support, a code, a moral purpose and a Kingdom worth defending, not an empty speech by an aging, corrupt and spiritually bankrupt politician who is posing as a warrior.
Please keep in mind, Mr. Dugan, nobody can be at home in his own heaven until he has first been at home in his own hell. Examine and release your own warrior energy before you ask your troops to fall on their swords.

The officer who correctly turned away a "boss" without ID needs to be supported. It doesn't matter if she recognized the "boss" or not. The "boss" was wrong. 'Bout a hundred years ago, I put a lieutenant in the front leaning rest position at the bullet end of an M16A1 because he refused to provide ID at my guard post in the middle of the night. I was pulled off guard duty about an hour later and taken to brigade headquarters. I thought I was in deep sh!t, but the brigade commander gave me a letter of commendation and the rest of the night off.
It's a shame the CPD "leadership" doesn't understand "follow the rules you establish."

AHHH, brings back memories of what happened after 9/11. Orders from the top that NO ONE be allowed in without proper credentials. So, many people were turned away from one entrance because they did not have proper credentials....There was a lot of "do you know who I am!" and, "Your commander will hear about this!". So, photocopies of the orders from the CO Book and some inquiries on the radio to the Sgt. to verify orders...AND, then after 3 days was told to use discretion. Come to find out, the proper credentials that were to be shown never existed. Orders were to not let anybody in without proper credentials - not to use discretion - sure wouldn't want to see the building blow up because discretion was used.
Lets make sure that the discretion used for Aunt Bea's condo and its occupants is used for every landlord when their tenant is participating in illegal activities - what's good for Bea should be good for everybody!

Let me play devils advocate now....I'm supposed to recognize every gold star asshole,I mean bosses,off duty in plain clothes.To get to duty desk at the academy you have to walk past a half dozen signs telling you to show ID.These signs were not put up by any officer working the academy,but by supervisors.If this is the regular duty desk officer,this is truly sad.She is one of the most decent POs in 012.A couple years back she was in a bad squad car wreck and the city gave her a super jerking off.Ordered back to work with a concussion and herniated disks.Let me play devils advocate one more time......if you think this officer deserves to get dumped just for doing her job,you must be a clout heavy,entitled pile of shit.

The union does not assist an officer in obtaining a CR#. It is easy enough for her to do that, she needs to write good paper but her immediate supervisor is supposed to obtain a number on her complaint.
The union can advise and help with the grievance and perhaps recommend a lawyer for the lawsuit.
That is always the best way to get back at the pricks, make 'em pay, sue their "don't you know who I am" asses.

Aunt Bea is the one that threw a good cop Dannye Ward to the wolves because of that drunken alderbitch Sharon Denise Dixon.
Just curious, does the bartender have any credentials other than an ability to throw drinks across a bar? Like a college degree? Or is she just another southside mexicana from pershing avenue.
Apparently, the 14 year old who breached security over in 003 and what kind of statement that made about the security at every single station in the city, is completely lost on Aunt Bea. This just further illustrates that those who are "clout HEAVY" do whatever they want with no reprecussions. How many times have we witnessed this?
Two standards of discipline on the CPD, one for those without clout and one for those who are clout heavy.

Coppers without clout are the only ones taking heavy time or getting fired; while the clout heavy do whatever they want with no penalty. It's all legitimate though, do as I say not as I do.

Keep in mind what happened in the aftermath of the twelve year old kid. We were repeatedly told to check EVERYONE's id card. We were told that there was going to be 100% ID checks and that there would be premise security checks by the Secret Service.
This poor copper just learned about the two tier system of CPD discipline. This poor copper is now bricked for doing her job.
This could be anyone of us at anytime. What they do to one of us, they do to all of us. Remember this the next time you are at work.

With the way this city does shit in the middle of the night including tearing up airport runways, who is to say that Aunt Bea wasn't terminated. She has the requirement to show proper identification and she didn't. She deserves to be dumped. Well done to the officer who confronted her.

6/27/2009 09:23:00 AM the retired PO with over 40 years on the job,its called DETAILING you out.Honestly,did you spend your 40 years sleepwalking.The dept can DETAIL you out to any district or unit for up to 90 days.You have NO recourse.Doesnt matter if you bid,seniority,etc.ANY officer can get dumped at the will of a DC or higher.This is usually used as punishment for a PO who the bosses figure to be a problem.Before your 90 days are up you can then get DETAILED for another 90 days to either the same dump or a new one,if they really want to screw you.Most POs that have gone through this become useless malcontents.Fucking with someones career does that to people.

Yeh the city quack sent her back to work with her head swollen like a fucking pumpkin.She still had windshield glass in her scalp....and 3 herniated dics in her back.So she comes back full duty a couple days after a horrible wreck,that was not her fault,and passes out on a job.ASSHOLES like you make me sick that I wear the same uniform as you.I had actually worked with this person and found her to be a competant officer and a classy individual.FUCK HER?No....Fuck you,PUNK!
In my almost 30 years on this job as a female officer, I have observed that two kinds of women get to the top on this job: 1) the kind who go get coffee for their boss, smile, never say a controversial word or stand up for anything (no threat to the male ego ie. Aunt Bea) 2. Those who sleep with their bosses. This Department has never acknowledged true female leaders on this job, those that have more balls than most of the men. Instead, bimbos and laughing-stocks are put in positions of power. What a shame. There are plenty of female police officers that would do us proud instead of reflecting poorly on us. Sounds like the Acadamy P.O. has balls no matter what else you say about her. I like that.

I remember some similiar story with Maurer in the lead role. Except he praised the blue shirt for doing the right thing and went back for his ID. Change of leadership...we used to occasionally have real leaders, now they're all just worthless political appointees.
Typical arrogant CPD command level asshole. Do as I say, not as I do.
