Prayers Needed

Update - Injured Police Officer Densey Cole
Status Update on Chicago P.D. Officer Densey Cole

I got word this morning that Densey is NOT doing well, that he remains in ICU, and that he may NOT have visitors other than "family and clergy." He has asked to see me and I've been granted access to visit and pray with him possibly this afternoon and tomorrow AM. PLEASE, PLEASE lift our brother in prayer. Pray also for Densey's wife during this exceedingly difficult time. Please pass on...

Posted by Detective/Chaplain MC Williams

Please everyone, even if you don't pray, please say a prayer for Officer Cole and his family.

"Please everyone, even if you don't pray, please say a prayer for Officer Cole and his family."

I wish you wouldn't say things like that. I fully support the cops in Chicago; I think they put up with far too much bullshit and far too little compensation compared to the dangerous work they perform every day; hell, my mother is a retired cop (NYPD), and I've heard my share of horror stories from her. That said, I'm also an atheist, and can no more "pray" than flap my arms and fly. It feels a bit insulting to read that, even though I'm sure it wasn't meant that way. Regardless, I sincerely hope the officer in question recovers — a hope we should all share, religious or not.

Mr. Korpios,

I appreciate your concerns but this is not a publicly funded forum and if someone here wants to ask for prayers, that's obviously kosher.

Nonetheless, your good wishes are duly noted.

It appears that the story being put out is false concerning a setback by Densey yesterday or today (Aug 18-19). He started moving a leg last night (the 18th). He couldn't do that if he was as bad as is being reported by some sources.
I cant reveal my sources, or the reasons behind it at this point, but I am being told that this may be a purposefully planted story by people he no longer wishes to associate with to gain access to him in Colorado. It's a long story, and I am familiar with the background on it. I will pass along word as soon as I can confirm it. Don't stop the prayers though....never stop that.

I hope that Densey is doing well and that the turn for the worst is a lie but what kind of filth would put out a false story like this?

Either way, the added prayers is a great thing. Let's keep asking the Lord for his 100% healing to better than new.

Confirmed---false story. But, as always, prayers are appreciated for Densey. He moved both legs today in a leg crunch while laying in bed.
With this type of injury, it is common for there to be occasional setbacks, sometimes severe ones. He did have a problem about 5 days ago, but came through it like a champ.

"I appreciate your concerns but this is not a publicly funded forum and if someone here wants to ask for prayers, that's obviously kosher."

I never said "you shouldn't be allowed to say that"; I said "I wish you wouldn't say things like that". I know it's a private blog, and as a libertarian I would never act as if I had the right to silence someone's freedom of speech; I can only make my feelings known. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at "Please everyone, if you pray, a prayer would be appreciated for Officer Cole and his family." But regardless, it's a small point I was making and isn't important compared to the officer's health and recovery.

I am a police officer, with intimate knowledge of the background involved in this whole mess.
I'll call your bluff: call 022 and ask them about the problems involving people who wish to use the whole situation involving Densey for nefarious and despicable means.
Please note that I in no way support the scumbags who are attempting to manipulate the situation involving Densey. If you read my posts more carefully, I am sure that you will see this. Unless, of course, you are one of the people attempting the manipulation. I wish nothing but the best for him and his wife. Dennis and his wife know who I am, along with several other regular readers of this blog, and I keep in touch with them to this day.
I repeat : NOTHING bad happened to Densey on the night of the 18--morning of the 19th. He had a setback 5 days earlier, but has since recovered from that, thank goodness. This is directly from his wife.

I am not sharky, but those were not truthful facts. Perhaps misguided, not necessarily evil in their untruthfulness.
The truth is that Densey has a LONG DIFFICULT path ahead of him and he does NEED your prayers, but the post was worded to make it seem as though there was a dire emergency occurring at that time. When in fact Densey was NOT in ICU or isolation, Densey doesn't always have good days, sometimes he doesn't want visitors either because there is too much going on, he isn't feeling well, or he just wants some alone time, or maybe he wants to try to improve on his rehab rather than visiting with people... could be any or all the above. So at those times, visitors will be turned away, at his request.
Truthfully, Densey is making excellent progress with his rehab. But these things take a LOT OF TIME .. put yourself in his position and think about it.. Timing may be one problem with the post, and I am sure the poster was well meaning, but the facts aren't exactly in line with what the post said.
All I can say is PLEASE keep him in your thoughts, and/or prayers.
and don't bite on sharky... sharky and others are being bombarded with phone calls and inquiries regarding D right now, due to the post, when the actual complication (a common one) had been taken care of for days. This caused a lot of angst that didn't need to be with a lot of people. No hard feelings against the original poster, and none towards sharky either...
I am not going to argue with the above poster either.. lets move on, the IMPORTANT thing is to give Densey some room to get better...

It's ridiculous to say this story is planted. Densey did have a setback, it just was late when someone posted it. The cops at work were talking about it all week. He WAS in ICU. Try not to spread vicious rumors, etc., about people "planting" things.

Great job office for posting your comment about Denz being in I.C.U. ect. I heard it at my unit who got it straight from Colorado. This isn't some movie shit, things being "planted." Hey Sharky, tell everyone how you obtained "rank!" Oh yeah, intimate knowledge!! You are a poor excuse of a man. When you have something to say to whoever it may be that you say is causing problems, go directly to them face to face. You won't because you would find out that you are wrong & you don't want to loose your "dept. juice!" Oh well there is still enough time left for you to work in 2,7,15 etc. You are "comedic!"
