Crook County Study

One-hundred-fifty politicians sent to prison over fifty years. And that doesn't even include Chicago pols - just Cook County:
  • Cook County government has seen 150 elected leaders, high-ranking officials and people doing business with the county sent to prison since the 1950s, according to a new study that did the math.

That's an average of three bad apples a year sent to the pokey, according to the study released today by the University of Illinois at Chicago's political science department and a watchdog group, the Better Government Association.

Just another 150 reasons to disband county government and reduce the tax burden on the already overtaxed, underrepresented, long-suffering citizens of our fair corner of northeastern Illinois.

3 a year!?!?!?!

If we had a State's Attorney that wasn't an idiot political hack and a Fed Attorney that was on a strangulation leash, we could/should have 10 a month!!!

It would be like hunting at the zoo.

Hmmmm... Interesting...

I assume they were typos, but in a couple of places (page 8) the report mentions "pubic" officials...

Kind of embarrassing for the BGA that they couldn't catch that.

I firmly believe that county government can be greatly reduced. I might even describe the need for Crook County government in terms of four areas: road/highways, courts and jail, with the reduction of county taxes reflecting the operation of the above.

County medical, e.g. hospital, long term care, the fourth area, needs to be greatly reformed. There is no reason that my tax dollars should be paying for non-county residents to use these services, PERIOD!!!

If municipalities in the county want other services that Crook County is currently providing, let them pay for those services according to the needs and tax base of that municipality.

What the fuck do we need a County President, Commissioners and a whole layer of county government for!!??!!??

This whole extra layer of government is just another way for the politicians to make money for themselves and for their cronies, individuals and/or businesses.

1. Dump Daley
2. Term Limits
3. Disband Cook County Government
Maybe Chicago won't be in the top ten of Most Miserable and Dangerous places to live if these happen...

These problems can be addressed if all of us and our families vote for the political outsiders with ethics.

Chicago/Cook County/State of Illinois has more layers of government than anywhere else in the US.

That may account for the fact that we pay the highest taxes here than anywhere else in the US, as well.

Cook County is too big to govern effectively. It should be broken up into 4 separate counties (North Cook, West Cook, south Cook and Chicago). I'm sick and tired of lowlife non-taxpaying bottom feeders in the south burbs and city electing this gutter trash to govern this county and spend my hard earned tax dollars to prop up this corrupt Democratic machine. Lets see who the city and south burbs elect when its their own money they have to spend???

we should be careful about throwing too many stones here ... the history of Chicago politicians and Chicago coppers is not much better. we have had some bad, bad press for corruption in recent years ... PacMan and the 15th district scandal, Medzianowski was described as "the most corrupt police officer in the history of the CPD" until the SOS scandal came along and Jerry allegedly conspired to kill his former partner.

Easy everyone, we have a few skeletons of our own!

Stop arresting the wrong people then.

When you arrest innocents, duummies take over and the crooks take over by doing corrupt actions.
