Comment Problems

e-Blogger has been having more than a few issues lately with comments either disappearing on our end or not saving as we moderate. Supposedly, there is a fix in the works, but we have no idea on their timetable for rolling it out.

If you've noticed your comments not appearing, it may be that they are in a holding pattern until e-Blogger fixes things.

But if you're that guy that keeps saying, "I dare you to print this" or "SCC doesn't have the ball to print this," rest assured we can never resist that type of challenge and your comment has been sent to the great internet toilet in the sky.

Open post in the meantime.

More Henny Penny news...

A little birdie that was present for the booking process of Mizz TrahanASS claims the IAD supervisor on scene for the processing was insistent that she pay a cash bond. It wasn't until she cried for about 20 minutes straight that they granted her an I-Bond.

Her logic for the I-Bond through buckets of tears?

(Not verbatim)...I already had to give up 24 days of pay and Needham is going to cost me a fortune!!!

Welling, puffy eyes in her mugshot seem to validate her boo-hooing just prior to getting booked. (Never you mind the pure hatred also conveyed in her peepers).

Fucking priceless!!!!

Our unit used to post a paper list with time everyone had on the books at least twice a year. It never failed that there was always bitching. Usually about the guys that had lots of time on the books. It seems that the people that took their OT in cash, which they are more than welcome to do, always beefed about the people that took their OT in time due. The people that took cash couldn't under stand how someone could have thousands of hours on the books even though some of them had been saving time for twenty years.

Because of the whining (and it sounded like the Napa Valley) being open about the books had to cease. By the way forty years ago you could easily buy 40 hours for a baby furlough from your friendly unit timekeeper.

Friday, 19 March 2010, 0700, WGN News

The 'lead' story was that... "A Chicago Police Officer was in big trouble for using racist remarks."

(For all you do-gooders, yes, it was 'uncalled for' but my point is...)

A car is stopped for full tint windows. ( A coppers nightmare not initially knowing who or what is inside and in store for them)
During the stop the driver is recording on her phone the entire episode.
Yes, the driver of the illegal tint car that wasn't wearing her seatbelt and had a suspended license. She was cited for the three violations.
Despite the 'obvious' reason for the stop, tinted windows, she demanded to know why the police stopped her.
The copper, sarcastically stated, "Cause your fu**ing black."
(Remember do-gooders I stated initially that yes, it was 'uncalled for.')
But my point is that it was obvious why she was stopped and she also did not have a valid (suspended) license but that was never an issue in the story.
Oh, did I mention that NO ONE in the car was black?
I'm sure it was a wise-ass retort on the part of the copper to her question based upon him hearing all the time, 'you just stopped me 'cause I'm... (fill in the blank)
added to the fact when that's said when they have limo tint windows on their car it's an impossibility to see if the person is ...green.
But WGN ran with it as a lead in on their news both at 0700 and 0730.
My point is this...
First of all did WGN hear/request ALL of the tape from the driver to hear what was said before, during and after the stop? We know better.
Second, there is a disciplinary process on the CPD that addresses allegations of this nature, so where is the news story.
Next, no one in the car was black so it should have been obvious that the remark was rude, sarcastic and/or 'uncalled for' but to portray it as a racist remark (intent?) on a national TV news show... gimme a break?
Was it ever addressed why her windows were tinted? Nope.
Was it ever asked how her license ever got suspended by the SOS? No again.
Slow news day, hated for police, friend of WGN staff or just an 'uncalled for' news report.
Go figure.
Stay safe and be careful out there.

You absolutely can assault someone over the phone. She was obviously still in love with him, super angry at being left by him and she needs counseling. The way she was speaking to him was exactly the way men and woman speak, right before they commit an especially violent act like a shooting. He was probably scared shitless. You think she wasn't taking a few spins by his house????

How come this organization which is not part of the CPD and being run by one of the 4 year wonder brain trust in the Policy Group is having payments sent to headquarters? How come the head of the organization is also using her department email for it?

Inquiring minds want to know

3/19- 1:55am You didn't hear wrong either. I work on southside and that bs goes on amongst our timekeepers office. Way to lose your job on that. But, management keeps this a secret. That is why you will never see anyones hours,furloughs,b-days,p-days,holiday hours, posted on the computer. As far as theft, you damned right. I thought thats why they had inspectors checking into stuff like that, but they rather see if you got a city sticker. We had a guy on our team that was a dogass with a capital D. At the start of the year, the guy burned up all his B-days, his P-days, and his Holiday hours and his maybe 10 hours from going to court on somebody elses arrest. Come summer, the sumbitch was off using god knows what time. Did anyone check into this? Hell no. And it always seems that the guy with the most hours on the books seems to be able NOT get time off. But the dogasses get all the time off cause they real friendly with the timekeeper, if you know what I mean.

Seen this myself...
In one unit I was in they used to POST the hours on a bulletin board monthly...and there were many many people in the RED.

It would be a great idea to have a public posting at the desk and publically humiliate those that abuse things like the above story.

I Was standing next to the sgt. at the desk the other day (a 1st watch sgt.) when a guy called in (a very troubled one with jaded career in hotel fraud and lotions) he did not have enough time according to the sgt. and he was not permitted the night off.....then he hit the medical right away with Diareaha...

I asked the Sgt. and he said the guy didn't state why he wanted 8 cu. so maybe he was sick that was all the sgt. could figure and all he could do was request a medical check which he told us by the way would never happen that night and the officer would likely come off medical the next day.

Common practice for that guy I heard...since I am on the 3rd watch all I can do is think what a waste for people that actually need the medical...seems like he has only 10-12 years on too not an old timer with medical problems but just a THUG.

Heard he later put a CR# on that same Sgt. for some other BS too!

Why do we cater to these types?

I seem to recall a certain Deputy Chief take a fall for the same nonsense Penny is now facing. If you remember he was arrested and subsequently suspended w/o pay facing termination. I think it took about 2 years to have him reinstated back to Lieutenant pay on 1st watch in 007th district. That was a huge penalty and kinda put a damper on his career. He has since recovered somewhat but I am sure he will be watching this outcome very close.

Is that why they don't post our TOTAL hours on the CLEAR system? I was wondering why. There is just always some corrupt stuff going on in this department. I guess maybe they have to pay someone $500,000.00 to get things done, huh?! If that don't take the cake. Borrowing hours? How are they getting away with this one. Like they are really keeping track of the borrowed hours? The books get audited, taxes have to be paid based on all this, how are they getting away with this. I think the IRS would want to find out about this and quick.

To the officers getting all over the guy asking about the practice of timekeepers allowing time due to those with NO time left on the books..IT's all about accountability and favoritism!..But, we know nothing about CPD is ever fair.

Sorry, I'm on his side in this argument.

Why do civilian or sworn P.O. timekeepers get this kind of power or authority over other officers? There is to much room for fraud or abuse.

Example: Who's to say that the dog ass P.O., (friend of the time keeper) has ever PAID BACK said time borrowed?..Oh, yeah his FRIEND the time keeper said he did all the dozens of times that the courtesy was extended! (Wait his/her time & attendance card shows that they only did it one time)..

For all you working coppers from a timekeeper you can't borrow hours not enough and it's a par form and time off without pay non disciplinary. I get my time out to each individual officer a couple times a year. It's none of anybody elses business how much time you have that's why it's not posted anymore. If a timekeeper is giving somebody time without them having any when there is an audit of the books they will be written up for doing this ,just thought you would like to know

Some coppers, due to personal reasons, didnt have a lot of comp time and this was one way to help them out. We ALL looked out for each other back then and AGAIN, NO ONE BITCHED.

Bosses never are in the negative in time on the books, never. Most are over 1,000 hours, many are way over that. A Sgt. at O'Hare has over 15,000 hours on the books. That will be a pay-out of around $650,000 before taxes! That much would have me gone but quick.

A patrolman is lucky to have a few hundred hours on the books. It is good to be a boss here.

Ask the union to do like federal employees where you can formally/legally give hours to anyone in need.

Who cares. Bond is about making sure the individaul shows up to court. She is not a flight risk.

Ya, I hope you remember that when it's you they are bonding out. The point here is the double standard issue. If it was a blue shirt, you know damn well they would have stood their ground and insisted on a cash bond. And don't tell me that she doesn't have the cash. Hell, I won't be surprised when she misses her first court date and nothing happens to her.

And it always seems that the guy with the most hours on the books seems to be able NOT get time off. But the dogasses get all the time off cause they real friendly with the timekeeper, if you know what I mean.

Then become a dog-ass and you will get all the time off you want. But until then just STFU!

There is no reason for any P.O. to have zero hours on the books.

Yes there is. It's called HAVING A LIFE outside this job, which you obviously don't have. Just remember super cop, there will always be someone out there that thinks they are better than you and that you don't deserve the spot you have.

So be happy with what you have and stop worrying about what some other copper does. Life is never fair so why should you expect more from this department.

I have 14 years on, nearly 1500 hours and three kids. The reason I have thoes hours is because I saved them and only take off for family realted functions.

WOW! With 1500 hrs STILL on the books you must not have many family related functions.

Discipline should be fair for all of us no matter what your rank. This Commander should be punished but it should be fair and swift.

This is apples and steaks. He did a whole lot more than call someone and curse them out. He stalked, cut tires, beat her etc., all while he was married. He was brought in at least 15 times before he got the counseling he needed to get him to stop. No penalty on this job effected him. I was in IAD, so I know!
