- Lucille Floyd's son, 20-year-old Brian Floyd, was among the four men who gunned down Officer Thomas Wortham IV when they tried to steal his motorcycle late Wednesday night, police say. Floyd died when Wortham's father, a retired police officer, fired off his gun while trying to defend his son.

With a then city-wide grand total of only 70 homicides, it needs to be updated for 2010
The 4 worst beats, central intersection and number of violent crimes follow:
Beat= Intersection (V/C)
624= 79/Cottage Grove (66)
423= 87/Colfax (62)
825= 63/Western (62)
414= 79/Jeffery (61)
There is a 4-way tie for the "safest" beats in the City with only 2 violent crimes per beat:
1814 Clark/Armitage (both robberies)

I think this is the most infuriating Chicago Police line of duty death in the last two decades or longer.
We've lost officers to vehicle accidents, training accidents, stupid drug shit, mental cases getting a hold of a gun etc. This however, is infuriating on a dozen levels. Over a motorcycle, in front of his childhood home,in front of his dad, in front of the park he was trying to clean up and he just got back from Iraq.
Two decades ago I worked a beat in Chatham and it was filled with decent middle class blacks trying to do the right thing. If Chatham goes to hell then there is no hope for black Chicago and the decent blacks should just pack up and leave for some quiet suburb. Let the "children" kill each other.

First you would have to pay what 9%of you salary say even at 65,000 would be close to 6,000 for each year, than pay in the citys portion which is supposed to be 2 for 1 or 12,000 a year If that is correct it would cost $36,000 to buy 2 years of service Doubt many guys would do that

I was preparing to start searching at the Joliet Prison grave yard, but I just have not found the time to get a roundtuit. Will keep you posted.
