A new low, even for a scumbag like Shortshanks. The reporter asking this question ought to be ashamed. Shortshanks though, has no sense of shame. Using an Officer's death to further a political agenda?

Let's just point out that even with the handgun ban in effect, Chicago's murder rate has remained higher than the national average for years and is climbing again.
And it would be pretty safe to assume that the gun that killed Officer Wortham IV wasn't legally purchased, wouldn't have been registered even if it was, and the person carrying it wouldn't have had either an FOID card or any so-called "liability" insurance.
And finally, let's remind everyone that the only two legal and registered handguns on the scene were the handguns that provided retired Sgt. Wortham a small measure of vengeance for his murdered son - and most likely, the service revolver is the one Daley didn't want him to ever be able to register upon his retirement.
Let us bury our brother in peace Mayor Daley. As a supervisor on scene of Officer Wortham's murder, I just want to thank my CPD brethren for their dedication. The professionalism exhibited by officers from 006, 004, 007, 005, 022, TRU, MSF, SWAT and others was amazing.
Detectives from A1 and A2 did an outstanding job. Thanks MW. Same with the Crime Lab. This was especially difficult as those of us on scene knew that our officer was facing incredibly long odds.
Thanks also to the State Police and even the Streets and San worker who blocked the alley.
God Bless the Wortham family. My heart is broken for our loss. Rest in Peace Officer, you will never be forgotten.

I was thinking about all those ridiculous studies that are done periodically by some group of college professors. You know the ones who come up with the poor disenfranchised families and their youth---how these people don't learn well because they're hungry, how they are destined to fail because they don't have educational opportunities---those studies. Then their solution is more taxpayer dollars.
I'd like to see a new study. A study that would really accomplish something. I'd like financial forensic interviews on offenders before they are sentenced to find out why they just never managed to turn their life around:
How old are you? Have you ever had a job? Do you receive any government benefits? What kind and for what? Take a drug and alcohol history-frequency, intensity and duration-how many days a week do you drink or do drugs. How many children do you have? Who supports them? How long have you been on welfare? How many people in your family are on welfare? How many generations of your family have been on welfare? How do you supplement your welfare? Who do you live with? Who owns the home you live in and what are their property taxes? How do you pay rent?
I think you get the picture. In other words---how do you manage to survive on a daily basis being a useless, worthless, stupid, piece of shit. I can tell you what the interviewers would find out. And you do too. And then all funding should stop. Once they have to worry about all the shit that we have to worry about they won't have time to be killing off-duty police officers during a motorcycle jacking.
Those is authority have an obligation to lead. It needs to start now. We cannot keep losing the very people who can make a difference.

But he continued and expressed a wish that one of the members of SCOTUS would have an incident that would change their minds before the decision is handed down.
He did not say he hoped they would read about an incident or observe an incident or have divine intervention that speaks to their hearts, rather, he wanted them to HAVE an incident.

I remember working in 006 in about 1999 or 2000 or so as part of SOS.
We had not been assigned there for quite sometime since we were covering the projects from Housing being disbanded.
Point is I recollect our Unit recovering over 20 plus guns (both shifts combined) in 2 days while both watches were assigned there. 006 is volatile and like most high crime areas of the city needs to be aggressively policed but with the way the department is now.....you get what you get!
Sorry to say and now that most guys I worked with at that time are scattered all over the city it may and have encountered "pimpy to big" touble for their policing ways...IT IS WHAT IT IS...
Be careful everyone out there 20 plus guns in two days (not all one recovery too) and that was over 10 years ago...I couldn't imagine whats out there now as I have gone to the homeland to protect it.

I read this ST article online last night and I was furious about Daley's comments at the end for all the reasons outlined by the blog host.
On the first thread of Ofc. Wortham being slain, I almost posted my feelings about this self centered lunatic of a mayor of ours until my better judgement told me to wait for SCC to post a thread on Daleys asinine remarks on gun control.
I felt any mentioning of Daley on the original thread of Ofc. Wortham's killing would be disrespectful to the memory of Ofc. Wortham and to the CPD.
I felt commments on the orig. thread should be for the extended CPD family thus, out of respect, I felt it inappropriate to post there as I am not a cop.
I would like to say here my deepest sympathies go out to the Officers family and brothers and sisters in the CPD. Words cannot express how horrible I feel.
Vis-a-vis gun control, as we all know, Daley is out of his mind! Had Ofc. Wortham's father not been armed, he very lilkey would have been killed comming to the aide of his son with only his fists and the animals would have dissapeared.
If that nut-job Daley was right about his gun control BS, Chicago would be among the safest of cities and it wouldn't be the case that virtually all the guns and spray paint (both outlawed for decades) are in the hands of the animal.
I loath the media for not calling that nut out on that.

This wasn't the only off duty attack this week by the way. There was a previous post here on SCC about the TRU officer that was attacked on his way home from work at 3am. We need to be extra vigilant both on and off duty. Carry your firearm with you at all times. Don't take the same route home everyday. Watch your mirrors and make sure no one is following you. Check your driveway and gangway to make sure no one is lurking in the shadows. And then there is all the stuff we need to do while at work, watch the hands, business officer cover officer, call out your stop and let everyone know your location, check your six, and don't be afraid to ask for an assist car. Be careful out there.

I remember when they dropped the civil service rank of Captain. They had all LTs. on watches. The problem was, each LT. had his own policy. Depending on what day off group you amd the LTs. had, you felt like it was a totally different watch when they took turns being in charge. That was one of the reasons they brought back the rank of Captain, by political appointment, not test. They being political appointments was the primary reason for the rank. Some are real rank!
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is our mayor. Any wonder why the Olympic commmittee dropped our bid in the first round? This baffoon represents us...you and me. We put him in office nad we have kept him there for 20+ years. Who's the idiot? We are!

Your little Hegewisch enclave went to shit years ago. Years ago, I broke up a party of over 100 drunken teens that had spilled out onto the streets from a home in Hegewisch. Had to bring in some of the teens who refused to pour out their drinks and disperse. You wouldn't believe how many coppers showed up at the 004th District demanding to obtain a CR because their drunken little darlings had been hauled into the station and cited for underage drinking. I was glad the WC on duty at the time had some balls and told those coppers to STFU and leave. There are quite a few characters out there in Hegewisch who are caught up in gun running, drug dealing back and forth across the border with Hammond, Whiting and Burnham IL., and some of them are kids of cops.
Whether you live far out southeast, or Norwood Pk., you can't escape the crap that's out there. All you can do is keep your eyes peeled, and report what you see that can be changed by (hopefully) aggressive enforcement.
As a civilian I would like start petitions to remove J- Fed from holding the position of CPD Superintendent, but I'm afraid that majority of citizen would not sign it, saying that he is doing a great job, just like in the tonight's FOX news...some citizens defending JACK ASS Daley, indicating that he is doing a good job.

Whoever runs against this asshole should print and mass distribute bumper stickers "Daley/Wrong for Chicago". He cannot conceptualize that we lawbiding private citizens

The police have nothing to fear with law abiding citizens trained AND legally carrying firearms. You police have always had to fear the citizens illeagally carrying firearms and that is not going to change. A concealed carry law will be a force equalizer. I am sick and tired of decent people being preyed upon by the indecent people of this city. Its time that the indecent people suffer the consequence of their indecent actions. Unfortunately we will see the parade of politicians and our no good superintendent and all the exempts from the police and fire department taking up the front rows of the church and weis and daley standing up to speak as if anyone gave a fuck about what they say.
I have written instructions on what I want if the worst would happen and I go out line of duty.
No weis and no daley and no ed burke. They stand outside, hopefully in rain. No white shirt sits at all, only family, friends and blue shirts.
I went to a co workers line of duty funeral and had to sit through the humiliation of daley and blago and weis all get front row seats and earlier I saw the sickening sight of ed burke walking through rows of police wearing his phony fucking alderman's badge around his neck on a chain. fucking phony cock sucker burke.
