PLEASE DEAR GOD let this happen...
You can lie till your teeth fall out. You can lay as much ground cover as you please, set up an elaborate network of pigeons, stooges and fall-guys. You can cheat, deceive, steal and make as many back-door dealings as you wish.
Eventually, the forensic accountants will come knocking and when they do, it's game fucking over. There is no 'plausible deniability' within the confines of numbers; mathematics is as cruelly objective a bitch as there ever has been.
This city is a fiscal disaster and there is *absoulutey, positively no question* that this state of affairs can be laid directly on the doorstep of our legendary crooked dealings.
What we see today is a result of a compounding series of decisions made for the best interests of those politicians on the receiving end of graft, rather than decisions made to benefit the city and her people.
Please, PLEASE let this happen. A forensic audit (and its certainty of an outcome) is substantially better than the Feds trying to gamble with a jury on some half-assed conspiracy charge involving breach of public trust, or whatever. This will bury the little fucking toad once and for all.

Any why is he the only one who is requesting this , thinking this or suggesting this? Why wasn't this done YEARS ago? First of all is that the rest of the idiot council members are too scared to even to suggest that king corrupt would do anything evil and the second reason is that they were on the kahootz to stay w/in Daley's reach and go along with his $hit because they TOO will $benefit$ one way or another.....
I'm liking what this guy says, but his bite better be even bigger than his bark. Now for the logistics, who exactly will do a forensic audit? What auditing firm isn't Daley connected? How many books are actually at City Hall, legit and not legit and how are they going to detect that? You are going to need a slew of top-notch fraud examiners to get into every book at city hall for the past seven years or so, from the park district to board of education. You need to investigate everything from day one with the selling of the meters, the skyway and the destruction of Meigs. You need to look at all the contracts and interview everyone involved with the contracts because that has to be one of the biggest frauds around. You're gonna need tons of subpoenas and analysts to put it all together and then examine for criminal activity. Ethic violations? Well we all know that ethics have been completely wiped out by this administration. You also have to look through all the smoke and mirrors via Shakman and the hiring monitor. We all know the merit promotional system is a sham w/in the police dept. All easier said than done.
The only way to bring Daley down is to have someone wired up, have the phones tapped and see the investigation through no matter WHO is involved, including the White House and the FEDS are too scared to do that, hence Blago, Rezco and co.
And if the FEDS actually got involved, how many YEARS would it take for them to investigate? The FEDS are known for being very slow and drawn out because they won't touch anything investigative wise if they don't know before hand and are 100% sure that they will win (unless it has something to do with the White House). Daley could be dead before the FEDS indict him.

It didn't take me the last 19 years to be fed up with Daley and his cronies. I have been fed up since 1984 (when I turned 18). I warned people NOT to re-elect Daley Cook County States Attorney in 1988, because he'll just run for Mayor of Chicago in 1989.
I had the opportunity of emailing J-Fed, and OMG he is worse than I imagined. I always leave reservation to someone new coming in, and trying to fix the problem. But his responses to my email, I was appauled! J-FED could screw up a two car funeral! OMG! WHAT WAS DALEY THINKING WHEN HE HIRED THIS IDIOT?
