Code 049 Back?
We thought the Department had discontinued Code 049 except in very specific circumstances. What's all this then?
- Scc how is it that the president of the wta (KB who is now detailed to intelligence) can be a WTA exhibitor at the Las Vegas "Shot Show", taking pictures with Matt Hughes (UFC) and Steven Segal WHILE BEING CARRIED CODE 49 by the department. Explain to me exactly what intel she is gathering and why my taxes are paying for it when I can't get code 49 to attend training at the academy. This is criminal. They are slick though, they haven't approved the A & A's yet. Sitting in preliminary waiting to see if there is any fallout first. Welcome to the unit Barbie Doll.
We recall a comment posted months ago about members of the Pipe & Drum bands not being allowed to be Code 049 for a trip that honored slain police officers in another jurisdiction. It must be nice to be connected to J-Fled, Ray Ray and Masters (Masters Masters) so you can run an outside organization on Department time and not have to burn through time due, all while on the taxpayer's dime.

Did she ever complete one job given to her last year? First the run to remember, then IOD, then medical, etc....she she ever do one shift of det work that she is supposed to do? Oh yea, then give her a car for her disposal, you know, for all that work.
Went to New Mexico for training/approved by LT and when I returned was told that I would not be carried code 049 for the training. So they took 40hrs of cu from me. Dog eat Dog unit 143! But dont ask the man in charge "no one ever wants to leave his unit" Please!
A day of reckoning is soon to be upon KB and those like her. Can't wait to watch the fallout when the dumpings occur.

This is a CPD blog and if you don't know these things then you are not a regular reader of SCC and are not CPD and don't need to know.
I saw on Fox showing off the WTA last year.
My question is, if she was an inside person with the Policy Group, why was she allowed to take up a valuable spot in Carbine Training Program which has limited spots open for field officers.
My guess would be just like Ray Ray, to further their own personal agenda. She needed this class to carry the M4 to start up this joke organization so she would look good for the cameras holding a big bad rifle. I believe this is not a branch of the CPD but more like a club.
She looks like the Barbie series called Chicago Swat. And Ray Ray is Ken.
Both are such a jokes and have damaged their reputations by selling their souls to the Weis era that will be confined to HQ do eternity when Wesi leaves!
Does anyone know if Masters was trained with the M4?

The WTA has nothing to do with the CPD. Officers are not assigned there, it is an organization she started up. So code 49 would not be allowed.
The Shield Team is asking for money from us to support them. Hey "Clout Boys & Girls" wait till your in office to start spending our money for your cause. Definition of CODE 049:
Code "049" is placed on the Attendance and Assignment sheets and allows the sworn police officer to attend things like Union Meetings which are allowed by contract for union trustees etc.
HOWEVER, the union (FOP or PBPA) is supposed to reimburse the department for the days pay.

This post is not at all being critical of the organization, they offer good training and an opportunity to network with other like minded police officers. The problem is the department paying her to take pictures with celebrities and play with guns in Las Vegas. She, and her Commander should be dumped.

The po is a great worker in the schools,but they made her burn all her time cu,per,furl,and baby furl to assist with her husband who has cancer and on dialysis. Fuck this city 3years to go and out. The cmdr sec and district sgt manager made sure she used her time.Douche Bags.We arent like we use to code 49 bs.

I know we (the bands) have been cut out of this loop also..but we still go and burn our time and its all out of our pocket..and we represent the CPD because its us ((all officers and family)) not the city leaders that Honor the fallen and reflect the meaning of fellowship.
OT..both bands are recruiting we need pipers and drummers and color guard...we (the Emerald Society) meet every Thursday at the Academy 7pm..LIFM Lead stick ESPD.

The WTA is not the CPD. What she does with the WTA should be on her time, not the City's. Code 49 is detailed, Code 47 is training. Either way, a junket to Vegas should be Code 81, Time Due.

Funny this should come up. Word is from the tower that both Weis and his little ball warmer 3M carry the M4, and have even cruised our mean streets together with them on occasion. But neither has qualified with the Dept. mandated M4 Carbine program....what do you think of that? Just suppose 3M's tiny, booger-infested trigger finger got shaky, and somebody went down, and records were checked. What would RayRay say? What would the rangemasters who are regularly assigned to manage that program say?
What would the Corporation Counsel's Office say?
Who would have to 'take one for the team' for that

I know your special skills are desperately needed to teach 3 classes a week to 100 recruits a year, but maybe you can return to a district and show us all just how easy it is to never be denied 049.
First BH gets rewarded for doing Jack shit in the Policy group and sent to Narcotics and now KB gets to go to the Intelligence unit. Must be nice to have no clue on how to be the police and get rewarded. Weis/masters = joke!

Let's be fair - Greg Bella and citywide are going to a PR firm if elected to be the FOP spokesperson know Greg can't put a sentence together. According to Trustee Kevin Graham, citywide tried to get Pat Camden, but he refused to work for them. He also said hiring a PR firm will be expensive. 049 is available to everyone. I am at the academy and was never denied. The biggest one is the radiological training in Las Vegas. Seek it out in the district and you can go.

The reason YOU aren't denied 049 is because you're dispensable. No one would even realize an academy person is gone. With no one there to train, you could be gone for weeks before anyone noticed.
Why aren't academy personnel assigned to the street when there aren't any recruits (or so few recruits it doesn't matter, anyway)?
Your pampered, protected rear end should get out here and see what it's really like, before you try to teach somebody what you THINK it's like.
It's no different than Det. R.A. "running" the run to remember from January to June each and every year!
Plus they give her a car from the Academy to "have at her disposal."

She has a complete control of the academy. They give her a room, a phone and staff. The recruits are at her disposal whenever she needs anything. The white shirts fall all over her especially MM. I find it amazing how she has soooo much freedom for one yearly event. A car? Unbelievable!

RECENTLY I BROWSED THE UNITS BOOK AND NOTICED THAT A LARGE PORTION OF THE LEADERS OF TODAY HAVENT USED ANY TIME DUE PERSONAL DAYS OR BABY FUR DAYS.

SMH. Why you got call an academy personnel all that? They are always updating programs, they are writing new lesson plans, scenarios, teach other metro classes and they do hit the streets, too. R.I.P to officer Thor Soderberg. So STFU.
I don't know what Code 049 is. I don't know WTA is. I don't know who KB is. And I'm willing to bet that I'm among the majority. If someone is pulling some shady sh*t, why not write their name on here?? Put it out there so they can be found out. As it stands, no one is gonna care about this article because no one knows who you're talking about or even WHAT you're talking about!

I've been on over 20 years working the streets on the southside. Yes I am the police but until this blog mentioned it I didn't know KB nor do I care to. I don't know what the fuck the WTA is and don't care. And actually don't know what code 49 is because I've never used it or asked for it. I used my own time due to take off for personal reasons.

Actually, we ARE detailed to the streets for holidays and OPY missions. I can only speak for myself (Acad Range and an outlying range...) but Monday thru Friday, if we don't have in service classes we're looking for people to qualify. Area___ range is a very busy place and we very rarely turn away shooters. So before you generalize on ALL instructors, the range stays busy!

This is completely VOLUNTARY on her part, yet gets "carried" all year round for planning a running event. As much as many believe it is for a good cause, this should be on her own time, NOT city time. If Phil C. wants all this work done by her, then he should pay her for her work from the memorial or she should be volunteering pro bono on her OFF time. Everybody knows this, but nothing is said..... the city-paid car with gas is more icing on top. Just how many investigations did she actually do as a detective last year? Your tax dollars at work.
If I worked for a charity during my work hours, I would be in callback now paying an attorney trying to get my job back.

well here in 022 we use code 49 every day....theres people on our a & a's that are not here...we list them as 049 every day
code 49 isnt limited at all districts use it daily...its how your carried for details

Code 049 exists but it's extremely limited. Karen is actually a trainer with WTA so she would be allowed to get it. In all honesty, she does a lot for WTA. And contrary to popular belief, they have male members as well.

WTA is not part of the Department and therefore she would not qualify for Code 049. I am not aware of her actually training anybody in the department or WTA. She has brought in some trainers for several different classes, which I suspect the department may have picked up some of the associated costs. I am also 80% certain that the WTA had the department purchase tactical clothing for WTA members. Code 049 incidentally, is nearly impossible to get at the District level. I tried several times to go to New Mexico Tech while assigned to a district, but no luck. The training is 100% paid by DHS, including airfare, and still the D.C. would not agree to Code 049. Once in a unit, there were fewer hassles and I was able to attend. BTW, New Mexico Tech is worth attending even if you have to use your own time. Hotel, plane, rental car, and per diem provided by DHS.
I am also 80% certain that the WTA had the department purchase tactical clothing for WTA members.

It's worse that that. I wont burn my source, but I work in a neighboring suburb and one of my jobs is meeting with some of the uniform reps for our uniforms. I've had two of them tell me that KB told them that she and her "Superintendents group" were doing all the uniform testing for the CPD. The guys said they gave her several thousand dollars worth of gear and uniform pieces to test. Over a year later nothing had been done, and when they kept finally asking what was going on, they were passed to the actual person who does the uniform testing.
The company reps said they were burned by KB for all the gear, and that KB has a reputation in their industry as someone not to deal with.
