Golf or Memorial?
- President Obama left the White House this morning a little after 9:30 am. He wasn’t on his way to the Capitol building, where grieving friends and families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty hold a yearly commemorative service. Though he was invited to recognize the fallen and offer condolences by speaking at the annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, he instead spent this fine Sunday playing a round of golf with aide Ben Finkenbinder, White House trip director Marvin Nicholson and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk.
Every president deserves down time. But after offending police earlier this week by hosting a rapper at the White House whose corpus includes a song lauding a convicted cop-killer, blowing off their service in order to golf seems tone-deaf, if not outright callous. Badly done, Mr. President.
We're surprised anyone in the media noticed actually. Thanks Washington Times.

I was there, that was Barry Soetoro you saw at the golf outing. I swear.
Signed,

First, this asshole is responsible for those race stickers we put on the back of our tickets. Then he says Cambridge police acted stupidly when they arrested his friend for D/C, a militant police hating Harvard professor.
Then he invites a rapper-cop-killer-advocate to the White House.
Now he decides to play golf on a day where he's invited to speak at the police memorial. Think he's done yet? Remember that constitutionally guaranteed pension you were promised? Say goodbye to it. They won't take it away all at once. They'll chip away at the stone after getting their foot in the door and hope nobody besides us notices. Then pretty soon, they'll methodically take our pensions away.
Lets not forget the incident leading up to the "Beer Summit" where Obozo commented, stating " We don't have all the facts yet but it is obvious that the (white) policeman acted stupidly."
When all the facts WERE in, it turns out the stupid actor was the (black) college professor.
Like there is any doubt as to where this guy stands for American institutions.
For a politician, Rule #1 is never comment until you have all the facts. And never comment admitting you don't have all the facts.
President Bush was always there. Obama could care less by his actions. He is only worried about his poll numbers for next year. Icing OBL and rounding up terrorist are now his top priority. Seems dead cops are on the back burner. Doesn't surprise most of us in law enforcement.
Having the pos rapper tells you right there he doesn't have respect and consideration for the police!!
Remember the incident where he publicly said to the media and the world on how that police office used poor judgement towards that pos professor!
I'm not suprised at all.
God bless and keep all LEO safe!!
The apple apparently does not fall far from the tree. his mentor, the outgoing shortshanks, disrespected CPD by not attending this year's chicago St. Jude police memorial parade, even though it would have been his last parade to attend.
Barry is the best kind of community organizer, an elitist
Just another slap in the face from "on high"...That is sooo PAR FOR THE COURSE!
No matter how it's polished a turd can be nothing but a turd.
He was best bud's with Bill Ayres.
Enough said.
Let's see. He attends an anti American racist "church" for twenty years, his wife is a racist, his mother was a communist, he has communists on his cabinet, he apologizes for America to foreigners and he's wrecking the economy so America isn't a superpower, but "equal" to other countries.
Now his disrespect toward the police, just like Daley did by not ever attending St. Judes, surprises people?
Keep voting Democrat.
shortshanks always used the excuse that sundays were for his family, and he never attended any function on a sunday, we should have moved st judes to a saturday, just once, to see what his excuse would have been...
Seriously, did you expect him to attend?
OT but isn't it about time the Trib put some other pictures in "mugs in the news" and take the 23'rd district goofs out. This is what, 3 days running?
What else is new? The mayor of Chicago always blew off the St. Judes parade. So Obama's following his Chicago roots and blowing of the police in a national way too.
I was working with a secret service guy during one of his visits. He said Obama had already spent more time playing golf halfway through his term than Bush did during his entire presidency.
He went on to tell me that he was in the clubhouse with Bush during a golf trip close to the beginning of the Iraq war when a story about wounded soldiers came on TV. He said Bush said he couldn't golf while wounded soldiers laid in hospital beds and never played golf again during his presidency. Instead he spent his free time visiting soldiers at VA hospitals.
with all do respect,FU mr. president!
In the last three years in office BHO only attended once.
The other two times he golfed (2011) and hosted a baseball team at the White House, intentionally rescheduled to May 15, 2009.
The police have always been the red headed step child. Obama feels the police are a necessary evil! Even he knows that with out the police there would be chaos. He was given Da Mayo cliff notes on being a Chicago Politician always F the police most citizens dislike and distrust the police anyways. The bottom line is shunning the police don't cost any votes and probably garners one a few extra! Sad!
Who cares, he obviously doesn't.
What a sad excuse for a commander in chief. He is nothing more than and empty suit. He picks and chooses what he will take credit for from previous administrations and has the media on his side to do it.
why would he care? police officers (especially CPD) never vote anyway. I wonder how many people sent their congress-person the letter which is posted on the FOP website with regards to the pension.....hopefully one day the people on this blog will learn that coming on here and bitching wont change anything.
While we are on the President, lets not forget to mention the miserable showing of exempts. I only counted 8 at the most. I guess when they dept told them to foot their own bill the Memorial wasn't important anymore. I never had to deal will Dugan when he was on the job, but he was at every event.
Who would want him there anyway? Continue inviting President Bush in his place.
Or how about when he said he would of got shot in Chicago. Regarding some burglary BS. Fuck this asshole of a president.
the first anti- american american president.
Sorry, gotta object on the Common part. He is *not* a gangster rapper or lauder of cop killers. The lyrics of that song have been drastically taken out of context. There are not many rappers out there who are actually thoughtful and smart, but Common is one of them.
And this suprises you? His political mentors, William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, spent the better part of the last century blowing up government offices and police stations around the country. But hey, he's your president!
013th Dist. Sgt.
" Change and hope, change and hope"
What's the new mantra for this election Barry?
To 1.10, Bush only missed once, he was in Israel trying to broker peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians. I'll give GWB a pass on that one.
Barry wasn't too busy to host the UConn NCAA Champs on Monday.
What did Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden have in common?
They both had friends that bombed the Pentagon.
He does not nor ever cared about police! Thank GOD for President George Bush signing the bill for coppers to carry state to state! Yes President Bush with barry in charge we really miss you!
I guess he forgot? Did any CPD die this year.Oprah and Golf are priority
xcept Common's song actually advocates the exact opposite.
ALL DEMO€RATS ARE €OMMUNISTS SAYS:
What do you expect from an arrogant, hypocrite, racist, phoney,
Cop-Hater €ommunist ????

Daley never attended them. Why do you think he would change his behavior this year?
If you all didn't know already... but the Commander-in-Chief is a GOOF.... Maybe even a Militant... Trump was right... We are the laughing stock of the world. Harvard educated in what??? Just cause you have an IVY league education does not mean you're not ignorant. He is a sorry case for an American Citizen least of all.., an American president. It is clear that he does not love Americans.., only his own agenda involving reverse discrimination... He really believes he is the messiah.... I am ashamed that he is a world leader that represents us. The only reason he is playing this whole Osama Bin Laden triumph is he knows he is losing votes...... hahaha.... it's a smoke screen because everthing else him and his administration has done is an utter failure.., (Economy, Foreign policy, healthcare) Remember what President Reagan asked.., "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago??" N.. O... It's only a matter of time before this administration is kicked out.... "The quiet majority"
He's a one term seat warmer. F him.
What a piece of shit. In the year when Chicago has lost the greatest number of cops in a long while, this pretend "Chicagoan" can't put golf on the backburner to show his support to his hometown cops. The gutless, cowardly mainstream media con't say a WORD about it, either.
I will ACTIVELY campaign for whomever challenges this pimp in the next election.
Whoever is trying to post the comment saying the president was there - check the date of your article...2010 was a year ago and quite a few Line of Duty deaths, too.
All LEO's should vote his ass out in 2012. A nation of Police Officers votes is a powerful thing.
I was at the Memorial service this year with several hundred of my fellow Chicago Police officers. I have to say the most moving part for me was when the LAPD lined up at attention in front of us and one of their commanding officers tendered 5 challenge coins to H. Lodding after reading off the 5 lost brother officer's names from last year. Thank you D. DUGAN for starting such a profound tradition. I truly believe every officer should attend the Washington National memorial at least once in their careers.
to 0953 and 1109:
“Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button, “killing over oil and grease”, “no weapons of destruction.”
“Tell the law, my Uzi weighs a ton, I walk like a warrior, from them I won’t run.”
So, do tell me, how are these words misunderstood? They seem pretty clear to me.
"I was working with a Secret Service guy during one of his visits. He said Obama had already spent more time playing golf halfway through his term than Bush did during his entire presidency."

This is an obvious and repeated pattern; about a week after the inauguration, the Obamas visited a kindergarten somewhere, and the First Lady kept talking about how she "needed to get out of the White House." After a week?
I've heard this several times since.
Despite their backgrounds as coming from a rich and powerful elite, I don't think either of them can really stand it.
I know they've just leased 50,000 square feet of reelection-office space here, but I wonder about them being able to take another four years.
he was in california fund raising after tornadoes devasted midwest in April and hundreds homeless and scores dead. He was hosting Motown Music Awards at white house when fighting started in Libya. It goes on and on.... They should make a "Find Barry Book" each page has a major event of his presidency and the catch is he's nowhere near it.
Sorry, gotta object on the Common part. He is *not* a gangster rapper or lauder of cop killers. The lyrics of that song have been drastically taken out of context. There are not many rappers out there who are actually thoughtful and smart, but Common is one of them.
Mmm.. I dont think sO refer to common's 1994 video resurrection where he has two mo's clappin the fin, or perhaps the bd throwin up the fork or 3. I dont believe anyone promoting gangs should be allowed to even look at the white house let alone have the honor to step inside. Meanwhile OUR (your's and mine) fallen brothers are being disrespected by the 1 man that should recognize the sacrifice. The service members protect america outside. Leo protect america inside.
A veteran and PO.

he was there this year too in civies....
In all fairness to Obama, and I'm not some rabid supporter of his, how many times over the the 8 years Bush was in office did he attend?
Every year? Every other year? How about Clinton? Bush the elder? Reagan?
Because if they weren't there every year you hold the memorial, you can't hold this guys feet to the fire for failure to come this year.
Just out of curiousity, was he there last year?
Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. Who would wand this asshole there anyway?
As usual, the media is the law of the land! Common is not a "gangsta" rapper. Wow! The paranoid, Kool-Aid sipping gets stronger each day on here. People really are sheepeole.
The ass kissing of Oprah, the Messiah thinking he's King of the World, the media that can't let go of Shortshanks leaving, and now the ass kissing of the new guy (aka Swan Lake). My Colorado vacation cannot get here soon enough.

I never voted for barry and never will! He is the worst leader we have ever had!!
Remember this when you vote next time.
President Obama has played golf 68 times since he arrived at the White House.
Just out of curiousity, was he there last year?
5/17/2011 07:33:00 PM
Nope, the Phillies were visiting the White House
I'll tell ya like it is!(below post)

In 8 years Bush "MISSED" only once and he was in Europe.
Bush not only attended, we shook hands, kissed or took a picture with 'every Gold Star family member' in attendance!
In 3 years Obama ONLY attended once.
He golfed this year and two years ago he intentionally 'rescheduled' a meeting with the Phillies from a previous meeting.
Don't get me started. Police Week was started by then President Kennedy and takes place EVERY MAY 15th, so it's not like it's not a known fact.
Say what you want but our contacts within the Secret Service indicate that that date was 'open' without travel but he chose to golf instead of spending one hour honoring law enforcement that made the Ultimate Sacrifice.
(Bush spent hours just with the families)
It was INTENTIONAL and AVOIDABLE.
I respect the office but I certainly don't respect that man.
So brother, chose your battles. This is not one you'll win as far as this topic. He is not a friend of law enforcement and has no problem making it known.
To quote Obummer, he acted "stupidly."
Been attending for over a decade.

You should play volleyball, cuz this is a perfect set for my SPIKE!.....
Bush missed one year. Cuz he was in Israel for peace talks.
Clinton regularly attended.
Bush Sr. once stood in the cold rain to give a lengthy speech. And he attended regularly, as well.
Reagan also regularly attended.
Yes, Obama was there last year. But probably only to save face for the Cambridge Police incident.
I don't know about Carter. But who cares about him anyways....
This is what happens when you have a temper tantrum throwing Man-Child as president. He's a big fucking baby, just like one of his mentors, Richie Daley, former Mayor of Crookago, and career Thief.
This Bum knows 95% of LEO's won't be voting for him in 2012, (we all know of 1 EX-LEO, cat loving Possumhead that did), so why bother to court our vote. We have no respect for this Bum and furthermore, wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

Yes he was there last year. Gave a terrible speech. It was the year before that he was with the baseball team.
Let's hope that our FOP National Lodge remember this disrespect in 2012's election.
Yes he was there last year. Gave a terrible speech. It was the year before that he was with the baseball team.
-----------------------------------
And here's where this guy can't win. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
So, he did go last year, but gave a "terrible" speech. I'm betting if that same speech had been given by W, it would have been a fantastic speech.
The thing is, I'm not an Obama supporter. I think he was only a marginal legislator and makes a terrible president.
But still, there are a lot of things you can slam him on. While you may be disappointed that he didn't show up, and criticize him for failing to do so, you'd probably find some reason to slam him if he did.
He can't win for losing.
Dear:
He can't win for losing.

The point is Obummer don't care about the police. He either doesn't show with an obvious less important event as an excuse or when he does show he expresses his disdain for law enforcement with a planned and rehearsed speech that likewise shows his hatred.
THAT'S the point!
Now go hug your Obama bumper sticker.

It's pretty clear that you can neither read nor comprehend above the eighth grade level, so I'll try this again.
Obama is no different than most people in this country, but now that he's president he's in an untenable position because of his politics and his political party.
As I stated clearly, and as you failed to comprehend on my first post, it really doesn't matter whether he showed up or not. In fact, considering how much dislike there is for him across the board, why would you even want him there?
Again, and since you had trouble the first time I suggest you read more s-l-o-w-l-y, the post from 5/18/2011 05:54:00 PM suggested that his speech at last year's memorial was "terrible".
The fact is, that speech he gave was probably not appreciably different than the one Bush gave in the years preceding him. It's not so much the speech that bothers you, it's the person giving it.
And I ask again, if it bothers you that fucking much, why would you want him there in the first place, or care if he didn't show?
And if you'll go back and read my original post s-l-o-w-l-y, you'll see that I'm not an Obama supporter. Fact is, I think he's a terrible president.
Of course, that won't stop you from accusing me of being some puke inducing liberal who has "hope" and "change" tattooed on his knuckles.
You may have 20/20 eyesight, but you're blind to your own bias. Nothing I can do about that.

Next time, instead of posting a tract like that, I'll just talk to a brick wall for a few minutes.
The effect will be about the same.

The Washington Times doesn't count. It was founded and operates as an explicitly conservative counterpart to the implicitly liberal Washington Post.
Its circulation is minuscule compared to the Post, and it has always lost money AFAIK.
