Anita Panders
Shandra Kidd didn’t realize her gun was empty when she tried to shoot a Chicago Police officer.
All the bullets fell out when she was running from the officer.
Unfortunately for her, the officer’s gun was loaded. And the officer shot her in the buttocks.
On Thursday, Kidd was sentenced to 55 years in prison for attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
And get a load of this bullshit:
- “This is a fitting and a just sentence for anyone who would be so bold as to fire a gun at a police officer,” Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said. “We are grateful that this officer was uninjured in this incident and we will continue to prosecute violent crimes against police officers to the fullest extent of the law.”
Unless of course, she's in Hawaii and can't get camera-time for charges against a cop killer.

Enjoy your moments on camera for now, Alvarez. Don't forget to have your personal asst. demand copies of the vids from the various media outlets....you are so done when your term is up, girlfriend!
Anita you are a liar to the camera. You take credit for successful work cpd does without needing asa advice or direction.
Go try and make it at a reputable law firm b-t-h.
Untrue and unfair. Any PO or Det who has ever worked with Anita likes her.
So we have another panhandler?
A fitting sentence would have been death, unfortunately the copper in involved shot her in the ass, next time aim a couple of feet higher and save everyone a lot of money
What a freaking joke of a hack politician this one is. I thought Devine was bad...wow.
Of course, all you Demo-machine idiots will voter her in again.
THAT was the delay?? As a citizen I'm shocked and outraged! WTF???
Any news about suspect/person of interest questioned in Officer Bailey's murder?
Don't screw this case like you did Det. Soto's
If you think the Cook County ASAs do not take attempt murders of the police seriously, then you have never had any involvement in such a case. In all of the cases I have worked involving serious injury or serious attempted injury to a CPD officer, I have had nothing but the best attorneys put forth their best efforts.
Routine agg batteries to the police would be handled better if they were taken more seriously by the cops involved. If someone pushes you, break his jaw. Too many cops are afraid to take justified action on the street, so they seek cover for some BS nonsense under a serious criminal charge, thereby diluting the charge for the many incidents where it's appropriate.
Time for Anita to go!
she ll be fine.remember this is democrat central! screwing up gets you a better spot later on!
Great setencing. Now if we could just get more like this across the board.
55 years in prison--excellent! Of course, having been shot in the buttocks, she'll get SSI disability for brain damage!
Vote Vote Vote... We have to spread the word not to vote her in next time around. Lets break it down, the people in Chicago rarely vote because they are sick and tired of the same old political corruption and feel that their vote means nothing because it's going to be business as usual. However, if we can get a huge chunk of CPD family and their family members along with CFD to vote her out it can honestly be done. We have to spread the word that she is no good... Hopefully with all the bashing on this blog people will truly see what she is. WORTHLESS
"...we will continue to prosecute violent crimes against police officers to the fullest extent of the law..."
Quick, pander to the cops - like Pfleger doing that shameless in-and-out at Brookfield.
How about you prosecute violent crimes against the public committed by Mayor Daley's nephew?
Ha.
Untrue and unfair. Any PO or Det who has ever worked with Anita likes her.

Okay, Dan Kirk. Go back to backstabbing all those you can and whispering in Anita's ear about those you have wasted.
I hear her original statement was:
“... we will continue to prosecute police officers to the fullest extent of the law.”
But, immediately corrected herself:
"Ahem ... wait, wait. I meant to say ... we will continue to prosecute violent crimes against police officers to the fullest extent of the law.”
He should've put one in her head, not her buttocks. That 25 cent bullet would've saved the taxpayers hundreds of thousands it going to cost to keep her locked up.
At least they had a decent Judge- Neil Linehan was an excellent ASA and is a good Judge.
With regard to the Cook County SAO standing up for Cops- a guy tried to kill me a number of years ago- the idiot Judge, E.C. Johnson, gave him a $2,000 D Bond- he was home before I was and the ASA didn't say squat.

What the fuck are you talking about? All cops take battery to POs serious it's the fucking ASAs that do not take the shit serious. They act like getting shot and punched comes with being the police. Fuck you retard.
Untrue and unfair. Any PO or Det who has ever worked with Anita likes her.

You mean water holders and suckasses. Sure they love her. The real police not so much.
55 years is a significant sentence and we should be thankful that the case was taken seriously by everyone, but all we can do is complain about Alvarez actually making a strong statement on behalf of law enforcement? I'm starting to think some people will never be satisfied.
Lawyers who become "lifers" in the asa or ausa office have political agendas, are lazy and stupid, and/or deathly afraid of actually being a lawyer out there in the big world on their own.
All lawyers know you only go to work at the asa or ausa office for trial practice. Its the unspoken rule that you stay there for 4 or 5 years and then move on to private practice and make the big money by being a "real" attorney. Its what smart lawyers went to school for, its what smart lawyers strive for.
Anita is a lifer. Not respected in the legal world of Chicago.
However, if we can get a huge chunk of CPD family and their family members along with CFD to vote her out it can honestly be done. We have to spread the word that she is no good... Hopefully with all the bashing on this blog people will truly see what she is. WORTHLESS
Just do it the same way you voted for G. Chico..yeah right!
I agree Anita sucks and needs to go, but I wish we could have some prospective on the SAO in general. Yes, there are lots of idiots and politians, although probably also many people just too afraid to do anything too. But there are also people there who went there to put the bad guys away and stay there for that reason. I started on the job in the late 80s and I've seen new elected state's attorneys come in and oust the good guys because they are politians. Anita has been second only to O'Malley in dumping good people from what I've seen. So she deserves our hate but it would be nice to remember that there are ASAs who respect the police, are good trial attorneys, and want to put the bad guys away. We don't like it when people want to say we are all like Abbate or some other dog they read about in the papers. We should try to have some balance too. ASA read this blog too and it doesn't help when we act like they are all dogs.
If someone pushes you, break his jaw. Too many cops are afraid to take justified action on the street, so they seek cover for some BS nonsense under a serious criminal charge, thereby diluting the charge for the many incidents where it's appropriate.

How many lawsuits have you been named in?

yeah she made a strong statement for the camera. did you forget the michael bailey incident? you know the one where she was in hawaii? go away troll
Anita Alverez will get rewarded with a nice lifetime Federal judeship if it looks like she might be a loser in her next run for reelection. The powers that be take good care of their pawns.
That waste of life also attacked several correctional officers, who were present, and testified, at her trial. 55 years is a light sentence, too bad the bullet wasn't a foot higher.
Our job is to Arrest and Enforce the laws, their job is to prosecute. Seems like years ago, with the creation of the Felony Review Unit, they seem to think that they run the Police Department. I don't give a fuck, use the cracked window policy here...hey it worked in New York, do it here. I'm disgusted with a lot of the States Attorneys. You have to kiss their fucking asses to get any god damn charges. Yes I am a Detective and yes...this is BULLSHIT. This Department and the States Attorney's Office has turned into a political football that gets tossed around like a bad fumble. We should do our jobs and they should do theirs. I do not work for the State's Attorneys Office, I work for the Chicago Police Department and the CITIZENS of Chicago.
Anita wants to be a Federal Judge so bad....
She figuers anytime she can get her beady eyed mug on camera, the better shot she's got.
Comments like these on the blog piss her off. Alot.
She'll implode long before she puts on a black robe.
I arrested a guy who punched me in the chest. When we asked felony review to tag on a charge for Agg Batt he declined claiming that because I was wearing a vest the offender would have injured his hand before injuring me. Of course he couldn't show me the case law but claimed it still existed. Really? WTF? I didn't expect to get charges for Agg Batt but don't lie to me as to why you can't. Nobody is going to convince me the States Attorneys office gives a rip about us.
