That is an amazing welcome for a long road of recovery. Good job to all that was there to welcome him. Billy Your words to him were sincere and how we should treat all our fellow brothers
I just sent an eMail around the world to the HQ for the Western Australia constabulary in Perth alerting them that they can follow Ryan's progress at the RIC on this (unsanctioned) SCC blog site. I added that we also have "got the backs" of (Constable) Toni and Ryan's brother, Jeremy.
Glad to see our FOP was not even ther what a fucking joke! Way to go Mike you fuck! What else can a kid with not even ten years on fuck up! Way to go guys for voting for this clown!
....and Fuck You to the Jagoff who shot that footage!! That was a private moment for Constable Marron and his wife and you shameless fucks have to capture it and broadcast it all over the World. I hope you and your family wants to have a private moment someday soon to spill off some emotion and that some asshole is right there with a camera to capture that whole thing and throw it up on the internet.
Damn you SCC, you brought me to tears with that video. May hat is off to the CPD Pipes & Drums officers. Makes me proud to see a disabled copper from down under welcomed like this. Salute!
The recipient of that larger pension, Thomas Sheahan, is a former police chief in Oak Brook, the current village manager in Lyons and a member of a Democratic clan that has helped rule Chicago’s Southwest Side for decades.
Sharp-tongued and unapologetic about benefitting from the provision that no one else has used, the 59-year-old Sheahan said of his pension: “I worked for 24 f------ years [in the public sector], I deserve every penny of it and I deserve a lot f------ more.”
Good bless Officer Marron and his family. Welcome to the Windy City! Wishing you all the best as you continue working towards your recovery here in Chicago. Healing thoughts and prayers coming your way! Stay strong! ~from CPD family member
Please let us know whatever the Ryan Family may need. I know first hand what it is like to be away from home with a sick husband and the burdens that come with it.

I don't know where the wife and brother are staying, but I have a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath house and I live alone. I'm also within walking distance of the Blue Line.
Sorry. I just watched the video again and realize that Toni is his 'partner'. I'm assuming girlfriend. But if they need a place to stay, I can help them out. I've watched that video 4 times and cry every time.

IDIOT doesn't even begin to describe you. King ASSHAT maybe comes closer. That video is going bring them a ton of support and donations. Go back to mama's basement and wait for dinner.
We need to focus on something positive in the midst of all the chaos McDummy has caused. I will work my ass off to assist in a fundraiser. Not only would a fundraiser help Ryan, I think it would lift all of our spirits as well. Anyone who knows how to run a fundraiser, please post how we can contact you and volunteer.
One of our own was taken care of in Colorado. Let's pay it forward.
And please post where we can send cards/letters and contact the family.
Also, SCC, please keep everyone posted on Ryan's progress.
Billy Your words to him were sincere and how we should treat all our fellow brothers

Very well said brother. Instead of criticizing each other's grammar and blasting each other, now is the time we need to renew our vow to the brotherhood. We are all we've got. So we better learn to respect each other, support each other, and relearn what it means to have each others' backs. We have no leader. Please, please remember to protect each other, not berate each other.
It'd be embarrassing for people in Australia to read some of the comments on this blog. I'm guilty myself. But I am definitely going to try to be better, after realizing what a blessing it is that Del survived and should recover, and that this officer from half a world away got such a warm welcome.
We're all we've got. Remind yourself of that every day.
Glad to see our FOP was not even ther what a fucking joke! Way to go Mike you fuck! What else can a kid with not even ten years on fuck up! Way to go guys for voting for this clown!
I feel sorry for you, you are a bitter man to turn a good story into something against the fop. I am in no way supporting the fop but damn take it easy...getting laid might help, at the very least it will help you relax a bit.

Don't be so hard on the original poster. i think he's talking about the side view of the constable in the vehicle being overcome with emotion and being comforted by his wife and yes, it did appear as if the camera person horned in on an exceptionally private moment. I too thought it was an unnecessary intrusion in an otherwise lovely piece.
A Mosquito did that ? I am not making fun here, I am just thinking WTF ? Reminds you of how there are hazards on the job that you don't think about to much.
For those asking why FOP was not involved I will explain it. We were contacted by Ryan's Sgt and asked if we could meet him at the airport with a smiling face and maybe provide transportation to their downtown apartment. We certainly agreed and the Pipes and Drums band were more than willing to assist us. Don't be so hard on Mike shileds on this one. We have been in contact with Phil Cline and the Police Memorial and will be discussing a fund raser with FOP. I want to say thanks to the Pipe band and also the department and the special activities section and O'Hare coppers for all of their support and assistance. I just learned that Ryan is going to be in out patient treatment after the first of May. He and Toni are going to need an apartment or a place to stay and would like to find something near the rehab institute. As I learn more of their needs i will be asking for further assistance. Toni is looking forward to a night out with the girls. I can be reached at pax 4000 or 312-746-7886 on the bell. Sgt Bob Kirchner
Sir I wish you a speedy recovery. God is Good he will see you through this time of need, We will all Pray for You and then Rejoice and sing Praise when God heals you. Hang in there Brother

Bawled like a baby watching this. Great job sgt's ass'n. How can other officers help other than donating money? Does the family have a place to stay?
What an awesome show of support. God speed with your recovery Officer. My prayers are with you.
Our prayers. We hope it works out.
Where was the FOP? Sgt association but no FOP!!!
Maybe we can have a benefit for Ryan at the FOP hall. How does one go about it?
Here's hoping that Chicago can help the constable get back on his feet. Scary that one can be laid low by a mosquito bite.
CLICK ON RYAN'S STORY
Well Done !!!
Well done lads.... Bill and Bob, you have always been class acts, this just proves it once again.... Thanks to all that did this on your own time....
One of the few times in the last few years I've been proud to be CPD. Welcome brother...

I'm with you. I think there is a group of coppers that organizes such things. I hope they decide to do something and let us all know how we can help.
@1158 am,,,,,,actually jag balls, it was on all the local news stations,,,,, you are a fucking idiot
Brought some tears to my eyes. Well done, CPD. Good to see rank and file taking care of their own.

Very proud of my brothers and sisters of the CPD!
WORLD CLASS POLICE DEPT doing it the Chicago Way.
And to the goof criticizing the media for being there:
1 They were probably asked to get footage by the Australian station or were alerted by the Sgts Assoc or Pipe and Drums.
2 It puts the. CPD it a good light
3 It didn't appear the family had a problem with it, so what's your beef?

All of us are ROOTING for Ryan's full recovery.
However, in Australian slang, the word "ROOT(ing)" [as both a noun and a verb] is slang for having coitus or f-cking.
Better to say we're CHEERING for Ryan's full recovery lest you be misunderstood by Aussie visitors.
G'day, mates!
