Rahm was busy during NATO, and once again, only The Reader's Ben Joravsky was paying attention:
- While you were distracted by all the NATO nonsense that's been consuming our city for the last few weeks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been on the move as usual.
He resigned to become general manager of the Cubs.
Alas—just wishful thinking.
Actually, he and his minions have been busy. That is, they've been giving your money to rich insiders while cutting back on the services you get in return.
Let's start with the corporate handouts. Emanuel turned over $29.5 million in desperately needed property tax dollars to a consortium of wealthy investors who clearly don't need the money. In the mayor's defense, it wasn't his idea. He was dusting off a bad one left over from his Mayor Richard Daley

Question: Was that money suppose to go to our Pension Fund, to hire more cops or to Chicago Parking Meters LLZ? Just asking
When you have corporations and government acting as one it's called Fascism.
One money laundering scheme after another.
We get..what was it $15 million dollar from the Fed government for NATO and Rahm tells us that we're not paying for NATO. Where's the Fed government get it's money if not from income taxes or borrowing that has to be paid back with income taxes!
Then you have the Federal break they gave on payroll taxes which was immediately offset by an Illinois State Income Tax increase. Out of one pocket and into the other. Illinois did not get any stimulus tax break from the FICA tax reduction. Illinois stole it.
We still have some pretty stupid people here when 22% of those surveyed think that the speed cameras are not being put in for the money I'll tell you what. Either that or those 22% surveyed represent the 1% that Rahm caters too.

Social Security gives a COLA. Should our widows and survivors be denied one in order to subsidize these handouts to the wealthy.
The Evil Racoon never sleeps. Just like fat ass Daley he must continue to feed the connected corrupt contractors to keep money flowing back to their pals and campaign coffers. This town is broke and will always be broke. The tax base has been shrinking for years and continue the decline of Chicago.
Whatever will happen to Ben now that the Sun-Times is buying The Reader?
With the purchase of the Reader by the Suntimes ownership we may not have Ben to tell it straight for much longer.
Its now been shown. The Chicago Police Dept. can do fine with less. They handled NATO with what they had. Thus, no need to hire more.
I hope that the Reader is able to keep it's "Outsider" integrity after being purchased by the Scum-Times. Otherwise we are screwed because the Media is All Democrat Party All Day. They still push that nonsense that Rahm is a tough guy. Have him get off the Red Line at Garfield and stand on the corner for a while and then I'll beleive he's a bad ass.(of course that would be without his bodygurads.)

Every arrest at the NATO Protester Riots was made with sufficient probable cause. Some of the offenders were released without charging for simple reasons, like they were facing ordinance violation charges and due to the length of time for processing had been in custody a significant amount of time. They were most likely RWOC because of a timeliness issue, not lack of PC. You think that one arrestee, a sole arrest made by this Lt was improper? The fact that you don't like a particular lieutenant shows through. You’re a jagoff to air your bullshit here.
I think Rahm should officially be re-named the Weasel. Since he operates like one, back dooring you every chance he gets. Lets make it our goal to end his chances of ever becoming the POTUS.
Rahm got $18M for 18 months work for a job he was unqualified for ... remember Rahm .. you still owe for that favor, pal

Yeah, provided we continue to work twelve hour shifts, without any days off, for overtime, the next ten years.
Otherwise, we're desperately shorthanded.
