Rahm Proposes Robbery

Remember that referendum on the ballot just last week about the City buying electricity competitively in order to save citizens money?

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel is pushing a new plan to skim off some of the savings Chicago electricity customers stand to gain from lower rates expected as part of a bulk power purchasing contract, with the money going for unspecified energy efficiency projects.

The mayor also wants greater control over how much of the deal a company can get.

Some aldermen are skeptical, questioning Emanuel's power grab on the specifics of electrical aggregation, which allows the city to negotiate lower rates on residents' behalf. Last week, 56 percent of Chicago voters agreed with the idea in a referendum question.

Now the rush is on to lock in savings as soon as possible. Emanuel wants to award the power savings deal within a month.
A month? This sounds suspiciously like the parking meter deal that Shortshanks rushed through to the detriment of taxpayers a few years back. And Rahm wants to keep the savings we were supposed to see? And under his proposal, he would have the authority to set the percentages of power that each company would be responsible for generating - or just assign all of the power generating needs to one single company, replacing the ComEd monopoly with one of his choosing.

Someone ought to ask if all that money is going to the unfunded pension obligations. We can already see what the answer would be.

WEST SIDE INSIDE DO NOTHING PEGGED THIS ON NOVEMBER 1ST. HERE IS HIS/HER POST REGARDING RAHM'S LATEST FUCKERY:

CHECK THIS OUT, SCC !!!

*** Off Topic, but important nonetheless... ***

Just received a notice from the Shitty regarding voting on a referendum to opt-out for electricity aggregation on 06 November.

Of particular interest on the Q & A formatted correspondence is the third question in the lefthand column:

Q: "WHO WILL BE THE SUPPLIER?"

A: "The City will solicit bids and select the supplier that offers the greatest savings and best customer service."

*** THE BALLOT QUESTION IS AS FOLLOWS:

"Shall the City of Chicago have the authority to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retail customers who have not opted out of such a program"?

This just screams of yet another clouted contract-in-the-making to further enrich a chosen few. So the city wants to decide what's best for the Sheeple in terms of electricity supplier? Might there be a "Vanecko Power Distributors, LLC" in the pipeline? NO THANKS.

ANYTHING the City touches is because there's ulterior motives. Unless you've been in a coma, the best interests of the legitimate taxpaying people of this hellhole are NOT a priority.

RECEIVING THIS NOTICE AFTER MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY EARLY VOTED IS PROOF THAT THE CITY'S ON SOME BULLSHIT.

This last minute mailing reeks of bullshit. Please take the time to read it and respond accordingly if you haven't already voted.

This is JUST like the parking meter deal, only Rahm was smart enough to get the dumb fuck voters of Chicago to agree to it first. THEN he fucks you.

And down the road, if you don't agree with his politics, like Chick-Fil-A, he just cuts you out of the grid.

When third world types vote in a strong man, they get what they deserve. America is dead.

Sad day for you Chicago hah-ha.

Don't you remember this deal?

Alderman Wants Fee On Electric Bills To Fund Hiring Of New Police Officers

"CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicagoans could pay a significantly higher price to keep the city safer, if one alderman gets his way.

As CBS 2’s Susanna Song reports, Ald. George Cardenas (12th) says the city needs a surge in police hiring to help stop the violence that has plagued Chicago. To fund that surge, he says the city should impose a $5 month “safety and security” fee on homes and businesses that would generate the $70 million needed to hire 700 new police officer..."

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/09/21/report-alderman-wants-fee-on-electric-bills-to-fund-hiring-of-new-police-officers/

I'd bet that the money about to be skimmed by this proposal will amount to way more than $5/ month savings on avg. Whatdaya think?

Also once the foot is in the door and people get accustomed to seeing that charge, that NEW TAX, to raise your taxes it's no longer a matter of all that political b.s. You just do a deal with the electric company and split the proceeds right?

Much like the lottery was sold for the schools is how we can sell it.

Should there be any backlash they'll put a hand full of cops on the streets tell you that the money is going there and there will be no accounting to show anyone where the rest of the money goes.

Why we could put up another memorial park to honor Daley Jr.

The Mayor's net worth is estimated at up to 14 million. He grew up on the swanky North Shore. He has no idea what it's like to live a middle class life.

Police officers and firefighters struggle and work second job to make tuition payments. He made hundreds of thousands of dollars for his part timer (how many meetings did he attend) at Freddie and Fannie.

He takes care of his millionaire buddies by lobbying to cut their taxes at the Merc. Now he is going to use his power to try and take a big chunk out of the hard earned and modest middle class pensions promised to police officers and firefighters.

I do not want the city involved in my utility purchases. Soon they will be telling me how much electricity I will be allowed to use. I will be opting out of the city's electricity program as soon as their opt-out website is functional. The city should have made people opt in for the city program instead of forcing everyone in it and making you opt out. I am sure most people don't even know their provider will be changing. Rates will start out slightly lower and then they will go up dramatically and the infrastructure start breaking down with Com Ed customer being forced out of Com Ed service.

Opt out! Starve the beast!

Oak Park tried to pull this same crap a year or so ago. Citizens approved the aggregation and the village fathers tried to sneak in a clause about keeping the first 400K in savings or some such number. In this case the sheeple went nuts and the village backed down. Of course in Chicago the sheeple will just line up to be sheared

When we voted on this why wasn't this explained in what we were voting on? This sounds to me unethical, how do you tell voters we are asking you to support a plan to save them money but once approved change the rules so that the city can profit on the savings voters are entitled too? This just isn't right and is another example of why we can't trust the Mayor otherwise he would of came forward about this prior to our vote

With absolute power comes absolute corruption....or something like that. We need to limit government, not increase it.

Is there any voter in the State of Illinois that doesn't believe Rahm will pocket some of this windfall, or at least steer it towards his friends? Sad, but true, that we expect we will be fleeced at every turn.

The last line of the story sums it up pretty well:

"By that time, the Emanuel administration expects to have selected its preferred companies to win the contract."

Rahm al Ghoul had this set from the beginning. Use the process to dangle a benefit that he couldn't achieve otherwise, then immediately hijack it. At least Shortshanks was smooth when he pulled a lick. This guy is nothing but a ghetto stick up man.

You don't miss what you never saw.

This reminds me of the Federal payroll tax break which was immediately taken away by the state of Illinois 67% state income tax hike.

Washington cut the FICA tax by an amount whereas everyone should have seen a 2% rise in take home pay. But before that increase in income could be seen by Illinoisan's the political apparatus rushed thru a 67% state tax increase and stole all that money.

No-one complained about it because they never saw the increase or the following decrease.

Nevertheless the political apparatus is stealing from all of our futures, robbing peter to pay paul.

FICA is our social security money for retirement and with Washington cutting that contribution Soc. Sec. will become closer to failing. It's like the money from our Soc. Sec plan went to cover your public pensions.

Jan 1 the FICA tax break that Washington gave us all expires and when that happens Illinoisan's are finally take the hit and see a loss of income. Many won't blame the state of Illinois though. They'll blame Washington because they are unwilling or unable to connect the dots.

This electric bill scam it the same. Oh yeah. Give us permission to neg. your electricity cost and we'll stick the savings in our pocket because you never missed what you never saw.

Like the state lottery contract with a private firm the city can negotiate a lower elec. rate and pocket their share and a short time later we'll end up with a lawsuit from Comed or whomever with the electric company suing for more.

It's Fascism this plan of Rahm's. Corporations and politicians scheming how to take more money away from the middle class.

Well we just re-elected a Representative that's been MIA for six months and we also re-elected a State Rep. that has been charged with felony bribery AND we have an aldermen that lives in DC and who knows when the last time was that she saw her district and spoke with her constituents.

Sad day Chicago.

Not to mention how many people ran on this last ballot unopposed.

The mayor does whatever he wants and the 50 bobble-heads just rubber stamp it after a dog and pony show is put on to portend they are asking tuff questions that express the concerns of the taxpayers.

What a sham it all is.

Mayor Rahm's propaganda.

Dec 19, 2011 Wall Street Journal

By Rahm Emanuel

***

"For example, AAR Corp., an aviation-parts manufacturer in the Chicago area, has 600 job openings for welders and mechanics but can't find skilled workers to fill them. As mayor of one of America's largest cities, I find it unacceptable that at a time of high unemployment, more than 80% of manufacturers say they can't find skilled workers to hire"

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203893404577100772663276902.html
-----------------------------

Could it be that 80% of the manufacturers are LYING?

for example what's going on over here?

Oh LOOK! Here's your workers right here. Over 1,000 of them!!

Hawker Beechcraft sheds more jobs

Layoff notices will be sent to about 410 Hawker Beechcraft employees, as the company plans to close facilities in three locations and shut down its business jet production.

The Wichita Eagle reported that 60-day notices will be issued Nov. 9 to affected employees in Wichita, Kan., where the company is based, along with Little Rock, Ark., where the last of the Hawker business jets are being completed. Job cuts will also be made in San Antonio and Mesa, Ariz., the Eagle reported, quoting from a letter to employees signed by CEO Steve Miller and Chairman Bill Boisture

***

Hawker Beechcraft filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May, and recently discussed the failed attempt to negotiate a sale to a Chinese buyer. The collapse of that deal was followed by announcements that the Hawker jet line would be closed, and the company will seek to terminate warranty coverage for many, though not all, of its business jets.

The latest round of job cuts push the 2012 total reduction in workers to 1,021 employees in Wichita alone, the Eagle reported.

Meanwhile has any of the students that Rahm directed to his community college skill matching program received their certificates yet?

Better hurry if you want to get a spot in the interview line behind the thousands of EXPERIENCED workers being laid off in this trade.

Yeah.. AAR can't find workers because they are unwilling to pay them what they're worth. Same goes for the other 80% of the manufacturers that Rahm speaks of.

There's plenty of skill workers out there don't kid yourself. This skills matching thing the mayor speaks of is about a revenue generating scam for student loans and business for the banks which fund Rahm's campaign donation pot.

Years ago people got electric bills every 2 months.. than all of a sudden the state decided that the PEOPLE should invest in building their own electric supply by paying the SAME amount that was due every 2 months on a monthly basis for a promise of cheaper electric.. this was suppose to belong to the PEOPLE of IL.. well someone in SPRINGFIELD decided to sell it to EXXON .. without consulting the people.. no one knows who..when..OR how much the politician's pocketed..so RAHM taking over ANYTHING is the STUPIDEST thing one can imagine.. as well as with the closing of the coal supplied sources the prices will be going up REGARDLESS ..I can NOT see any company undercutting COMED..COMED will just raise the rates to the secondary company (who are USING COMED'S WIRES ETC) and the company will go under.. we tried this with the phone companies years ago and people found themselves paying MORE.. just a heads up on what can go wrong..
