- A man believed to be one of four robbers who held up a truck driver this morning was shot to death by police a short time later in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, sparking a mob reaction at the scene, authorities said. The shooting happened just before 11:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Garfield Boulevard near a gas station, police said. Chicago Police Department News Affairs confirmed that police shot someone in that area.
A man in his 20s was shot to death at that location, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Chicago Police Sgt. Michael Martin, speaking near where the shooting took place, said a mob scene ensued after the man was shot.
"People were throwing bricks and bottles at cop cars," Martin said. "A few squad cars are damaged."
Officers in a pursuit after known subjects. Car chase, crash, three subjects get away, but one slow one decides he will literally pick up a police officer and slam him to the ground. Yeah, that's completely normal by every stretch of the imagination. And then the neighborhood shows up, not because they're outraged that the animals they've raised are running amok, sticking up truck drivers. They're made he got caught and shot for acting like the animal he was raised to be.
And this isn't the only occurrence. After the recent incident where a violent subject was tasered twice before being put down by a lethal injection administered by hospital personnel, his father is declaring that the police, "won't get away" with their behavior.

From a troll: I heard this unfold on the scanner. After listening to an hour or so of humdrum handled with ease by a very competent woman dispatching cars in 007 and 008, this incident came up. She was terrific and as she was calling out locations, being somewhat familiar with the area I knew right where it was going. Good work coppers, hope none of you were seriously hurt. That is indian country there, you are all each other have. And apparently you all know that because she was also calling out for people to move their cars there were so many there.

There were multiple 10-1's and multiple times in which officers were battered. Too often the offender could not be apprehended because the offender would punch the officer and then run into the crowd as the crowd cheered on.

When this kind of things happen, and they happen alot in the ghetto, get a video team out there. Start video taping these animals acting like animals. Use it to prosecute and to show the world what savages they are. The liberals and the democrats (aka savage huggers) need to take the blinders off. Some are realizing this due to the robberies and shootings in the gold coast but most are still in denial.

That is a great idea. But you know why that will never happen? Because every single day police officers are going out of their way to get numbers. That is why. As long as officers are going out and busting their ass then why would the politicians or the department care?
The situation on the ground was much worse than the video indicates. The police were clearly outnumbered and thank God no officers were seriously injured. At this rate in about ten years our city will be like some third world nations where after the police shoot someone, the community comes out and ends up killing several police officers.

I saw the entire video. You'll notice there is a tall white guy and a petite white girl. Both of them work for a Socialist Workers party. They have an office in Wicker Park.
At 6:30 a black kid says "man if we start a riot then the police can't do shit". At 6:50 the crowd basically goes back and interferes with the police again after they were ordered to go across the street.
Clearly the citizens of this neighborhood were in charge rather than the police. Thankfully no police officers were seriously injured. I can only see these types of situations becoming more common and more worse. Stay safe everyone.

1- there's not enough manpower to arrest every person that you have PC on.
2 - liberal Cook County courts/judges perpetuate the inmate "catch & release" program making the whole "truth in sentencing" phenomenon a farce. Ditto that asshole Quinn. Plus there is really no point to SUB or petty weed arrest a dude when he'll be getting an I bond before you go home for the night. That shit is NOT what I call police work. 3 - we are NOT indemnified when it comes to lawsuit time. PC or not, juries have been jackpotting coppers for quite some time now in case you haven't noticed. You are correct...I would have phrased is different, but you bring up an excellent point. We have to take care of our selves and not stick our neck out too far...But what about the bigger picture? They are winning. They get the monetary benefits from the state, the legal support from the elected officials and the sympathy from the judges. Not because there is some injustice, or violation of constitutional rights, but because they scream and yell!
