Bad Marketing
- Urban Outfitters has decided to stop selling a t-shirt featuring a symbol that closely resembles the pitchfork symbol associated with the gangster disciples street gang in Chicago. Salon on Wednesday pointed out the similarity between the company's "Vanguard Fork" t-shirt and the pitchfork symbol used by the gangster disciples. When the Huffington Post reached out to Urban Outfitters, the hip clothing merchant said it will discontinue the item pictured above.
The gangster disciples is one of the largest and most dangerous gangs in Chicago. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) recently suggested rounding up all 18,000 known members and tossing them in jail. Two reputed members have been arrested in connection to the murder of Hadiya Pendleton. A recent Tribune editorial pointed out the gang is "believed to account for a significant fraction of Chicago homicides."
The offending t-shirt:
$32 for this crap? We guess if you get shot wearing it, you've been victimized twice.

We still got the Pitch Fork music fest so there's that.
About ten years ago, there was a Korean woman with a stand in Northfield Square Mall, Bourbonnais, selling "Free Larry Hoover" t-shirts. I tried to tell her that she was promoting a murdering piece of shit, but she "no speak". Called a local copper but he said there wasn't much they could do. I saved money and blood pressure points by avoiding that place for a long time after that.
Looks like a shooting target!
Brilliant.
Looks like little Herbie has become a clothes designer!
Are the 'g/d' going to sue?
What in the hell? How is this possibly a symbol of being hip? I think I'd fire the person who came up with this idiotic idea if I ran that company. By the way SCC, you may have to start providing 3-D glasses to read the 'words' to prove we are not robots. Anyone else having difficulty seeing these? The numbers are blurred, and I am NOT hung over. Okay, maybe a little.
In my opinion gangs are a National security threat and should be dealt with our Military police. We can toss them into Quantanimo and listen to Obama and holder whine about the common sense action taken.

Kirk got it half right. Round them all up, and the most grievous ones, into the woodchipper you go. Society as a hole will be better off. Black society will be especially better off.
Folks be poppin People be droppin. Just sayin.
Gangsta-chic sells...
Let's sell some Chalkie T-shirts.

Where in heck is Quantanimo?
And how about the "Pitchfork" music festival?? I would like to see a who's who behind that event . . .
Who ever sells that shirt should include a warning:
" This symbol has at times been associated with an alliance of street gangs. The symbol has been found at violent crime scenes. Wearing the symbol in certain areas could be dangerous. Wearer assumes all liability and holds seller harmless."
This product is not returnable.
I am sure wallace gatorbait bradley will chime in on this issue and somehow demand royalties. poor guy still lookin for a big payday.
Speaking of BAD MARKETING...
Years ago, late 60's or early 70's there was a T-shirt being sold featuring a group of holes through it that were supposed to have been made by a Thompson submachinegun.
One of my favorites T's had a sexy cartoon of a naked lady with the caption "EVERY COP LOVES A GOOD BUST." I probably got that one stashed somewhere but I doubt it would fit after all these years. Darn things shrink in the closets.
