Um....What?

Is this bullshit or the new incarnation of CAPS?
  • Dear SCC,

worked 1st watch last nigh and heard form a Sgt in 008, that McNaughton the commander who is currently chasing his deputy chief's star off our backs has cut a deal with (sic) "SWAP". Supposedly SWAP got a 3 million dollar grant and are using it to force sgts, lt's and capt's for now with P.O.'s being forced into this nonsense come January. The cops will HAVE TO meet with a stake holder in the community one on one and discuss problems and solutions for them. Going to be in a neutral location. The simulation had these liberals asking the cops all kind of personal questions, kids, families, sports, neighborhoods, marriage; and the cops were responding. Now we are going to share with some east end citizen I use the term loosely, on department time 99.

Is he fucking nuts! Since when does liberal community activist fall into our job description. Again this is being FORCED upon us, not a voluntary thing. So here you are going to meet with Joe citizen, and u are sideswiped in Dept vehicle, or fall off your chair while while in deep conversation with thugs mama, or ambushed cuz your 99. With all the IOD claims being denied and this really not being "duty related" Where's the GO, or SO, now you're screwed. What the hell happened to CAPS, the fed money is still rolling in. It's their job to make nice with these idiots. What else do they do? Oh yeah, they make sandwiches for the seniors and proctor. Bingo events. Who's gonna be stuck next, Detective division , because they truly are the best talkers. Gonna check with the FOP and see what this clown is up to. This guy ought to go back to la la land in 016. Geez, what happened to real bosses?
Looks like it was typed while a little under the influence, but you get the gist of it. Along with this supposed "sector policing" that might happen in 012, it seems like we're on the verge of some major policing-type experiments next year.

As it was explained, this is not meant to be a "complaint session" by the community member and we, the police, should not be conducting an interrogation.

But if the community member can't, or shouldn't, be bringing up problems - then why don't I just hang up my uniform now? That's my purpose, right? Combating crime and disorder? I'm not going to be talking about my family, where I live or my personal life - because it's just that -PERSONAL. I don't need some supposed "responsible" community member who has a friend or relative who has a score to settle, use that information against me or god forbid, my family.

You want to talk about neighborhood problems? Fine. It sure as hell won't take 30-45 min though. And I would love to know who is going to make themselves available to meet at 0300hrs.

It just might be a chance to tell the citizens what a fuck-up Rahm and McCarthy has been all along.

Just tell them the truth.

No Bullshit, cars are racked up with over 100,000 miles. No manpower, give them an accurate count of downed cars. Why is crime way up even though they are being lied to by Rahm's stats.

Advise them how to get their Concealed Carry Card. Have the forms to hand out.

Tell the Truth. What a concept!

Great idea Dave.

Nothing will fix policing in Chicago.
The balance of power has shifted to the criminal.
The general public is weak minded and lacks the moral courage to allow effective criminal control.

I was born and raised in Chicago. I left in 1969 when I joined the army. I applied to CPD while still in the service, but wasn't considered because I wasn't then a 'resident'. Anyway I finished my enlistment, earned a degree and joined a large PD in the Southwest. CPD did me a great favor by not considering me. Be careful my brothers and sisters.

In some parts of the country members from the "Community" are part of the boards at oral interviews for promotion! Let's not lose sight of the basic fact on the side of the marked cars; WE Serve. One of the main problems with government especially in Cook County is the fact that we are here to serve as is all government. The public even those who are entitled, ignorant and racist, as they are in many parts of the City are not accountable, WE ARE.

To all the people who are saying that the CPD are employees whose job it is to serve the people of the city:

Agreed, BUT:

They are not social workers. They are not doctors or nurses. They are POLICE OFFICERS. It is not their job to..."discuss problems and solutions for them." That is the duty of parents who are present...to raise children to adulthood who know how to solve problems through ways other than violence...to teach their children problem-solving skills...to teach their children how to grow up into responsible adults. Sadly, that is lacking in the violence-ridden communities. Yes, I'm saying it. And it has been going on for years.

It is not the business of the citizens of the city of Chicago if police officers are married or single, if they have children or don't, where they live, what kind of car they drive, what their favorite food is, etc. THAT HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH POLICE WORK.

Until these violence-ridden communities have members that stand up and say "You know, it is our fault that our children are behaving this way...that our young adults are behaving this way...that they don't have problem-solving skills because they've been taught to look to others for handouts and not themselves for self-sufficiency....", there will be no one to help them. You can't solve from without what those within aren't willing to confront.

-- Just a citizen

Hey "boss," GFY!!! You're probably one who loves to violet people's constitutional rights. I'm sure you give those under your command illegal orders, too! Ex. "Go get me contact cards!" What you forget is that a blue shirt with enough time on the job can see thru your bullshit. Many are on survival mode and going to this shit on their RDO is not conducive to our survival. Just ask the officer who was struck in the head while blindsided. You and your ilk disgust many of us veterans for drinking that castrating Kool-aid. You're powerless and you know it! Good ridance when you pull your butt plug and leave!!

That homeless car ought to chase "Jesus" around Irving and Damen area, (HIGHAM, Thomas, M2) who is responsible for many of the burglary to autos around there. He did three years for that, got out about a year ago.

That car could clear up many of the thefts/burglary to auto if they dismounted, dressed like schmoos and followed Higham around and got a number of cases on him. Next time he might get 6 years.

He got 3 years last time and did all three years, that is what a wonderful individual he is even in jail. No one will take the time to research where he sleeps, used to flop in a rental truck in back of Irving/Rockwell, also bank atm locations. He breaks into cars for the change or if he sees a briefcase or anything he might sell. He's quick, he's been doing it a long time. Also his brother Merrick. Arrest those two and clear up hundreds of thefts a month.

How do I know? He told me.

Doesn't sound like you love being a cop. All you are doing is complaining. Your 3 year should know nothing about your life as a cop and the only way he knows anything about the job is from what you tell him. No wonder he doesn't want you to go to work. You should be telling him you love your job and enjoy going to work, The 3 year old doesn't need any drama about your job in his life.
And dont give the bs he heard about it, from who, the other 3 year olds that sit around and discuss their fathers job

Having been present at these initial meetings at the 8th district I can re-assure those officers who have concerns regarding this "community relations" initiative that NO ONE is being forced into something he/she does not want to do. Comm. McNaughton has been open to ways on how community leaders and residents on the Eastern end of the 8th can maintain and/or establish a more trusting relationship with our law enforcement community members. Afterall we work and live together. Those of us who have an investment in our neighborhood consider this a great opportunity to connect with our civil servants I personally have to depend upon when I am confronted with matters that demand law enforcement intervention. This initiative is not about probing into personal matters but rather to establish common ground and create an atmosphere of dialogue. I have two nephews in law enforcement and several close friends who are with the Dept. I value what they do, who they are, what they are about and what they represent. I would hope that it would be reciprocal toward me.
I am happy to welcome any of our officers to my residence to talk and share any concerns regarding this "ask."
Respectfully,
