Officers Shoot Assailant
On-view of a drive-by and a chase ensued:
- Chicago police officers shot at least one person early Saturday in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the Lower West Side after witnessing a drive-by shooting, police said.
About 1:30 a.m., 10th District Cmdr. Frank Valadez and a police officer assigned to the 10th District were on routine patrol when they saw someone fire shots from a vehicle into another occupied vehicle near the corner of 23rd and Wood streets, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
Valadez and the officer pursued the vehicle, and near the intersection of 19th Street and Ashland Avenue, the vehicle struck several parked cars, according to the statement.
As officers tried to intercept, the suspects deliberately reversed their vehicle to strike the commander and the officer, police said in the statement.
The officers fired their weapons, striking at least one person who continued to flee but was later taken into custody after striking additional vehicles, the statement said.

Some media outlets are refusing to identify the race of the suspect involved in the murder of a sheriff’s deputy in Houston last night, despite the fact that he is clearly black.
At around 8:30pm last night, Deputy Darren Goforth was pumping gas into his vehicle in full uniform before he was approached by a man who shot him from behind multiple times.
“Police described the suspect as a dark-complexioned male who is believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, and stands about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall,” reports the Associated Press.
Nice job, Frank. Commander and still the real police.

OK, score one for the good guys and maybe there's some hope for the future of this department yet.
OFF TOPIC OFFICER SAFETY
I have been trying to look up a story I heard on TV news yesterday. Two people were found dead in a home and when police entered the home they were made violently sick by fumes. SUSPECT A METH LAB WAS IN THAT HOME. This shit will be popping up here.
Be careful, if you large amounts of Sudafed packages in the trash, or other chemicals or anything or smell anything else suspicious back out and call CFD for a HAZ-MAT checkout. It is not only important for safety but if a meth lab is discovered the cleanup can be expensive and could be paid for by the feds instead of the city.

LOWER West side?
Is that "New York Garry's" idea?
Great job! it's always nice when we end up on top.
Will they take time for violating the new GO?
I doubt it because the commander was on scene. Any other time they would be looking at suspension.

Since when is a Commander and a police officer on routine patrol? Even when you are 10-4 or 99, it isn't routine.
I've been retired about 6 months and never paid a lot of attention to who was where, but wasn't Pena the CO of 10? Where did she go off to, the smarmy, condescending wicked bitch?
Great job to the officer and CO. Now THAT will be something to talk about at Compcrap!

Loud Gangbangers Party All Night Long at Near West Side Park, Neighbors Say
August 28, 2015 6:59am
"Residents living near Touhy-Herbert Park on the Near West Side say they are in a never-ending "turf war" with a group of gangbangers who party in the park at all hours of the night and leave the park and nearby streets littered with liquor bottles and drug paraphernalia.
"The rowdy parties organized by Black Disciples plague the 3-acre park several nights a week and in some cases rage on until 6 a.m., with police and park district workers not doing enough to alleviate the problems...
"The park, roughly bounded by Monroe Street, Seeley Avenue, Adams Street and Leavitt Street, is three blocks west of the bustling United Center and is close to two schools. Besides the disruptive loud music late at night, neighbors also complain that trash litters the area for days afterward..."

Bravo! Chalk one more up for the good guys.
J.J.
Good jobs officer and commander. Things can turn south in an instant. Glad the good guys won this time.
Well done ..... Hope all are safe and returned to their families
Frank V. was a class act looong before this incident.
I've observed him over many years and he's the real deal.
God Bless him, truly one of Chicago's Finest... a rarity in this age and department.
Ol' Vet (r)
Commander Valadez could have taken the Alamo by himself, the man is fearless. Great job, hope everyone is ok.
Sounds like one of the few bosses that still lead by example!
So the Commander gets reamed at the list Compcrap and now he's out in the middle of the night getting hit by a car and shooting at bangers. Does anybody else think this is as messed up as you can get in a Department?
OT:
Where is POTUS on the Harris County (TX) shooting.. Sounds like that was an out and out hate crime.. why is this not being charged by the USA as a hate crime???
Or do Officers lives not matter.
How come the shootings and murders continue to rise but the Mayor and Supt.remain silent. The media in Chicago must truly be afraid of this administration. One would think that after the media itself becomes a victim of sensless violence, they would wake up to the lies being told to them!
It's 10:04 Saturday night, channel 5 just had a report on a attack in Willowbrook, the reporter stated that the police just gave her a description of the attacker, however, they didn't give the description. She was actually pissed as if they were hiding it from her. Now why did she not give the description, why report it at all? If it's a male white, sorry. If it not, I do t know what to say, it now 10:10.
"Lower West Side" ??? Where the fuck is that? NYC?
It sure isn't in Chicago!
Commander will be fine, P.O. will have CR for shooting at a moving car
CPD trivia question here. Who was the highest ranking officer to get into a shooting? Counting their rank at the time of the shooting. I think it was First Deputy Sup. Wysinger when he was commander. Anybody got another answer.

Post about the 024 YouTube incident
Worked with Frank Valadez in 012. He was an aggressive officer then and it is evident that he is now.
Then you have goofs like Barb West who refuse to get out of their unmarked car & call the Lt or Sgt on their cell phone when they are a mere 10 feet away!! And McStreetlight uses West as an example of a good exempt?? The Lt or Sgt should let the call go to voice mail and send it to McDufus for his next CompCrap Meeting.
Are there any working Female exempts or is it "mammary meritocracy?"
1000 for Super !!!!!
Awesome job by the commander and p.o, remember, refer to and cite the same case guys when facing the same situation and suspension is given to you for not moving out of the way of a vehicle and firing into/at it.
Now if a p.o. fired into a moving vehicle. He or she would be hung out to dry. Let alone chase....however a boss does this and he/she is the real deal.
Who came up with the "heart of the city" neighborhood? It's Pilsen. Has been Pilsen for how many years? Is this a new naming of neighborhoods since rahm took over to change the gangs and crime image of some neighborhoods? Sure sounds goofy.

If the media insists on calling black people 'african americans', why don't they use a similar term for white people such as 'european descendent'? Just askin'....
Good job boss. I hope the Supe isn't mad at you for chasing into 012.
OUTSTANDING job by Commander Valadez. He is a very god policeman and boss, a great guy all around- very fair.
A LEADER that cares about his people.
Great job by his partner also. I am proud to work for him on 1st Watch in 002.
SEMPER Fi, Frank.

You are talking about a president who has, to my knowledge, not once appeared at the national memorial services in DC for our fallen officers in contrast to his predecessors. He shames the office of the presidency.
I worked with Valadez years ago. He is and has been the real deal. When the Mayor wakes up and realizes that a Superintendent that is not respected , who actually incites contempt, is like a cancer on the Department, maybe they will look at Commander Valadez to put it back together. Valadez is a real leader.
If Al got the Lambert tree for his "incident" Frank should get the keys to the city.
As a relative I can say Francis is absolutely the real Police and a true warrior who will always back his Officers. He is battle tested under fire.He clearly should be your Superintendent!

Where's the outrage regarding this white maggot cop killer;
The head of the Louisiana State Police says a man accused of shooting a state trooper with a sawed-off shotgun told him afterward,Kevin stated "You're lucky — you're going to die soon."
Col. Mike Edmonson said Sunday night that 43-year-old Senior Trooper Steven Vincent was fighting for his life after being shot in the head by a man whose pickup truck was stuck sideways in a ditch.
Edmonson says 54-year-old Kevin Daigle of Lake Charles, was under arrest at a hospital where he was taken after other motorists saw the fallen policeman and wrestled Daigle to the ground.
He said the truck door opened and Daigle came out with the shotgun.
All this talk about batman and barely any mention of his little sidekick robin.

Not Garfield Ridge. The media being very liberal with neighborhood boundaries as usual.
This department does not want good leaders, they only request merit do nothings but lick diggleberries of there clout. the upper crust is full of these morons. from the sup on down. All the good ones had the sense to leave early.
Frank is the real deal. Nice job to both.
Old SOS guy
Uh....was the offenders gun registered is the question
Work in 010 and have never met CO...
30 Aug @12:31 am - The answer to your question was 1st Deputy Supt James Riordan, as the victim. 1979, at the lounge in Marina City, Riordan was shot by a M1 (& a short termed Iowa policeman) during an altercation. Still remember how the scum-times printed a photo of the 1st Dep laying wounded on the sidewalk as the paramedics were arriving. Since Riordan was off duty, the jury wouldn't give the offender the death penalty. i think the piece of s--t was paroled about 6 years ago. Even though it was 35+ years ago -'blue lives didn't matter back then either. Of course there were racial undertones during the defense's role in the trial.
RIP FIRST DEPUTY JAMES RIORDAN.
30 Aug @ 9:52 am - Frank Valadez already has received the
Lambert Tree/Carter Harrison Award. Unlike a certain ISP Director w/ his South American general's uniform - Frank is the real deal & does not seek recognition. And he does get the respect of his troops -'you can even call him Frank at informal settings! Oh Gary - there's local talent who could easily replace you and your CompCrap sideshow!

If you ever want to see someone like Frank Valadez as Superintendent and our beloved Department resurrected then REGESTER and VOTE OUT RAHM.
Swanky frankie I still love you! Prayers baby!
Frank Valadez is a great guy, he has withstood many scrapes while doing his job as the police, we worked together in the old SOS and he is a true gentleman, a great leader and treats all the police with respect and fairness and that is what this job needs in its command spots. Good job Frank, and to your partner that night.

The President delivered remarks at the 34th annual National Peace Officers Memorial Service on Friday
President Obama took a moment on Friday to thank the members of our nation’s law enforcement amid ongoing strife between police and communities of color.
During a speech at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service held at the U.S. Capitol at the close of Police Week, President Obama honored the lives of 131 peace officers who have died in the line of duty.
Might want to do some research;
........
This President has divided the Country like no other. He is a disaster, and it will take decades to recover from all the damage that he has done.
But at least we can now say we elected a Black man as President. I am sure you think that it was worth it. You still have a lot of company in that. It amazes the rest of us.
The history books in ten or twenty years will be interesting reading.
